Questions & Answers

Shopper : im thinking of buying this....but im reading several complaints about "scratching cd's,...rubbing noises....etc"....but it seems like a great way to put all my cd"s where i can listen to them!....any advice?AL W : Forget those comments. I found this unit easy to operate, and connect to my sound system. I was able to catalogue my cd' s so that I could play music to fit any occasion or mood. The mechanical operation is very smooth and faultless and I have never experienced any problem or damage to my cd's. Buy it , you will love it.CHRIS E : I haven't had any of those issues, but we don't use it much. it's a very convenient way to store CDs (as you mentioned) and then be able to just hit play; rather than deal with all those plastic cases. We love ours, but like I said, probably only actually use it 3-5 times per month. CJANICE T : This is my 2nd one of these......the lrst lasted 10 years without any problems, and this new one is great......I've never had a problem with scratching cd's or noises.....I luv mine.NORMAN C : I've had this changer for several months and have not had any problems at all. Works just fine everytime I use it. That's all I can tell you. I have the feeling that if you take care of your equipment it will work just fine.RONALD W : I purchased this unit in June of last year and have not had problems that you mentioned I previously owned 200 cd player by JVC. The Sony is much easier to operate and to work with. I listened to the player yesterday for 4 hrs and enjoyed ever minute of it, I can not say that about my wife. I do not get any static from the machine. I would reccomend this player to any one considering buying it.WAYNE K. S : We have used our CD player daily in the Canteen in the VFW and it has performed great - no problems at all.TOM M : Buy It !!! I have not had any problems with this unit. You can hear a slight searching noise when it is in search mode. I mean slight. You would make a slight noise if you were searching through 300 CDS looking for one track. Yes I'm enjoying the unit very much.
Joe B : Is this a new or refurbished unit?NORMAN C : Bought new. Has worked just fine since I bought it several months ago.JANICE T : brand newRONALD W : It is a new unitTOM M : The unit I purchased from Adorama is brand NEW. Enjoy !!!!GORDON S : yOU WILL NEED TO ASK aDORAMA THAT QUESTIONANDREW R : The item in this product listing is new (not used or refurbished)
Shopper : Do speakers come with it?NORMAN C : Sorry no. This is a playback machine and you will need a receiver and speakers to hear sound. Works as advertised.AL W : Speakers do not come with the unit. I conect my player to the input of my system amplifier.JANICE T : no.......u have 2 hook it to ur receiver which is hooked up 2 ur speakers....love this item~~

better than reviews

Better sound than i thought. I used to play my cd's through my dvd player sony sr 500 and it sounded good. I kept reading reviews on getting a cd player , but wasn't sure if there was a difference on sound quality. why should there be? i was using my hdmi out on my dvd player to my onkyo sr608 reciever and it sounded great i guess. i looked at single dedicated cd players but i didnt like getting up and changing cd's. So i needed a multi changer. 5 disc nah. 300 disc oh yes. Sound quality was bright , music was clearer, and bass was deeper. Dont know why cd's sound better in a cd player vs dvd player.Even my copied cd's sounded better. But there is a difference u can hear and feel. If u like LISTENING to music get this.

AWESOME CD PLAYER!!

i have 2 of these units and I just love them! They hold all of my CD's and the great thing is that I only have to use one remote to control both units. It's like having my very own jukebox except that I don't need any spare change every time to listen to my music! I love the fact that I can also group my CD's by genre which is very helpful. The only thing is that I have to use a list of what CD's I have so I know where they are inside of the player. Otherwise it's like looking for a needle in a haystack when looking for a particular disc. Once I find the disc that I'm looking for I can usually find the song that I want to hear with no problem.

300 CDs, Needs a Refesh / Outdated

This thing seriously needs a refresh. Obviously the marketing bozos at this once great company haven't figured out how to integrate this product with the brave new digital world. Okay, some thoughts -- (I want to store all of my discs safely, I want to call them up quickly, I want access to a friggin' CDDB so setup's easy, and since I want to be able to rip the bloody lot of it while sitting on the other room) Sigh. Don't buy this, it's a great product but not at modern usability standards. Not in 2010.

Time for Sony to take the next step

Have had this deck for quite a while and am reasonably happy with it. New CDs don't even need to have info input anymore. There is an annoying loud rubbing type noise when CDs are changing. That is my only real complaint. The next step for Sony would be to allow this player to be connected to the internet/home network to pull info about the discs off the internet and allow you to manage the discs from your PC/MAC. I was thinking I was ready for a second deck and was hoping to find that Sony might have this feature now that might be backward compatible through the Mega Command capabilities to extend the new capabilities to the older changers as well. Would buy another one in a minute if internet/networking capabilities were added. Would also like to figure out a way to stop the rubbing noise when cds change.

Overall performance is great

Upgraded from a JVC 200 disc jukebox. The extra slots and ability to connect additional units very useful. Keyboard entry of disc names is phenominal, but 13 character title is too restrictive. Longer entries with display scrolling needed. Custom delete file is great to eliminate that undesired track. Basic operation is straight forward, but changing a disc is difficult. A lever to lift disc out where it can be removed would improve handling. Solid overall performer.
