The port although brags about all the improvements, they really dropped the ball. No volume controls and sound that is compressed or processed or something. The Connect was brilliant sounding. This however is not in fact it's horrible.

We have an older BOSE acoustic wave radio that puts out wonderful sound. Unfortunately our listening was restricted because we couldn't pick up many stations due to our location. When we hooked up our PORT we had wonderful music in our apartment. Still learning the system but it gives us the music, talk and and plenty of enjoyment. We are getting music and talk and news from all over the world. Thanks SONOS

I really like the Port and have them attached to my stereos. I'm thrilled that they added Apple Airplay to the mix. Very versatile.

Installer was great to teach us about SONOS. We enjoy the music throughout the house. We have many speakers in most rooms; enjoyable everywhere of targeted area.

We just moved into our home that had a built in audio system and we were dying to get our set up a part to get my Spotify streaming through the house! I expected SOMETHING to not work on my first try to set up myself and anticipated having to rope in my husband to help. The instructions were super clear and I had it set up in a matter of minutes on my own. Buy this!

I have been using Sonos products since they were released. I am not impressed with this product. To start, I read that the Sonos CEO commented about the price of this particular product. He stated that the price was determined based on what they feel this product brings to the table. I respectfully disagree. I understand - every company wants to make its shareholders happy. First, you took away the optical connection. You added a 12V trigger output - for which there are very few receivers (I haven't found even one yet) that have a 12V trigger input. Then there's the price. Before I would have said that you're better purchasing a Play:5 (Gen1) and connecting it to your receiver for $50 more. At least you get a fairly portable Sonos option if needed. So now Sonos has taken away that option. Think about it - For $50 more you used to be able to buy a device with all the Sonos 'smarts', plus a nice set of speakers. It appears the Port also doesn't work with my Pioneer receiver that supports 'Works with Sonos' as well. I have 3 Sonos Connects. I replaced just one to see if I like it. I don't. This whole S1/S2 business is driving me away from Sonos. Just waiting on the next option....

I have excellent quality tower speakers in my family room and in-ceiling speakers in multiple rooms. I did not want to "toss" these while transitioning to Sonos -== The port allowed me full freedom to do whatever I wanted

This is a must for anyone who has invested in wired sound systems. This device allows for the connection of the wired systems to the Sonos network so that streaming music from Sonos can be shared. With the addition of RCA splitters (and RCA cables), the Port can connect to multiple sound systems (I have 3 legacy wired sound systems) to achieve a whole house experience.

The Port is connected as a source to our Whole House Audio system. It is now the primary source we use to listen to music from streaming services such as Apple Music, Pandora and Spotify.

Our Home Theater contractor recommended the Port when we purchased a home with a dated [wired] low power music system throughout the entire house. The Port gave us the ability to integrate the older system with our Sonos system and be able to listen to online music and other music feeds throughout the entire house. Great piece of kit!

I use Sonos for my wine bar streaming Pandora or YouTube Music. I have been using Sonos since we opened in 2013. I love how easy it has been to add speakers and how expandable it is. I recently upgraded from S1 to S2 and replaced my Bridge with a Boost. I followed the application instructions to set it up but not sure where I went wrong. The Boost doesn't work and right now I have a speaker wired into my router over Ethernet. I do have many many nodes with my business wirelessly communicating with my router so I liked the idea of the Boost providing a dedicated Wifi network. I've watched many YouTube videos trying to figure out where I went wrong and I just saw one where it said to make sure you set up the Boost using the S2 before you unplug the Bridge. I will set aside the time to reinstall the Bridge and start over trying to install the Boost. Not certain that will fix it but I don't recall seeing that information in your installation procedure.

Using on whole house audio system with 6 ports, music is delayed, takes 10-30 seconds for wired speakers to come on, some times longer. Had to add a managed switch to enable multicasting/STP

The product is nice however, it is way too expensive for what is does. It should also have on device volume adjustment.

I wanted to stream music to our stereo wired to rooms in our house. This is an expensive but far better alternative to a Bluetooth receiver. Super easy setup. Phone alert and call sounds don't interrupt the listening experience.

So I have a treated music and media room with a full Sonos Playbase 5.1 setup, but also use the room to play guitar and listen to music. The Sonos set by itself is ok, but my Bose F1 and F1 sub setup in the corner wasn't being utilized. I felt I could add some more decibels with that piece playing through the 5.1 and the F1 setup. I was able to unbox the Port, plug it in, add it to the Media Room space, and took a y-cable to 1/4 TRS cable into my mixer and boom, completely saturating audio. It was ridiculously easy to setup.

Purchased two Ports to replace Connects. Used the trade in reduction provided by Sonos. They were easy to set up and the sound quality equals the Connects when using the digital output to an external DAC. I have not listened to the analog output of the Port.

I am a professional installer and audiophile. I was a Sonos dealer early on. Overall the product is quite good. I think there are serious shortfalls however. In particular there are still reliability issues with products falling off the network. Also, you shouldn't have to re-install the system if you change routers and keep the same network SSID an password. I feel the best use is to simply use the port as an access to streaming services or music library. For my own use, I have stored hundreds of CD's in full CD format on a NAS drive to create a large music library as the sound is much superior to Pandora or Spotify. I find the Alexa and similar interfaces useless as I can control everything from my phone or universal remote and I don't have privacy issues. In my opinion, it would be better if Sonos spent their product development dollars on a better D to A converter to improve sound quality and stick to the knitting. Alternatively, offer a simple product like the old Sonos connect with superior sound without all the frills. I understand the product direction because you are now a mass market and public company, but perhaps you could license some of your technology to another company that is more interested in the audiophile market and won't compete directly with the mass market.

I wanted to add a pair of high fidelity wireless speakers to my Sonos system. However, the port does not provide an optical digital output option, leaving the rca analog connection as the only useable audio source (for my speakers) as it does not have coaxial digital option as provided by the port, omitting the digital audio benefits of the new speakers. Ultimately, my fault for assuming optical would be a standard audio connect. The lack of a noticeable sound quality 'upgrade' and no optical digital output source at the current price point is not good value add in my opinion.

The Sonos Port was a wonderful addition to our Whole Home Audio system providing Streaming Audio with superior sound and a Great App for controlling it. Integration with all of the popular music streaming services made setup a breeze and eliminated the need to create new playlists.

Like the Beam, I had to use a wired connection to the router in order for the setup process to work. Unlike the Beam, I still need to use a connection to the router in order for the system to work as a whole. This forced me to wire the port to my recording studio in a less-than-optimal configuration. Other than that, this system is great. Will add an Arc and Sub to the family when the Arc finally ships.

The port was initially just for setting up my turntable to be able to stream throughout all my rooms at our cabin, which worked amazing! But I found something else that really worked in my favour! Originally I had two kanto YU3's and a Polk audio sub connected to the port, wasn't a big fan of the kanto's after I put a pair of play 1's on the other side of the room, so swapped out the kantos for a set of ones but missed having a sub. Ended up using the RCA outs to my Polk audio sub and viola now have the low end back! Great job on this product!

I used the Sonos port to integrate my retro disco jute box into my whole house music system. Played around with a few connections and now I can stream my records or my music subscription to all of my speakers as well as my disco box with its lights in all its glory!
