Ive owned two of these, and 810 and this one. I travel a lot and they go everywhere with me on th plane, beach, mountain, jungle, zip line, you name it they keep on shooting great video and pictures. Can play them back on anything, tv, dvd player, laptop, pc, can convert to even play in ipod with free converter. I see the one bad review is from someone whining that they cant watch their video on a Mac/Apple...tee hee! Stop whining dude, you bought a novelty, deal with it.

I actually purchased my Sony DCR-DVD610 Camcorder at a Pawn Shop for only $100.00 total. The camera still looked as if it just came out of the box from the store, it even had a very nice case as well as ALL of it's accessories with it, so all in all, I got one "HECK OF A DEAL". The Pictures & Video clarity is excellent, touch screen is awesome and easy to use, it's size and how it feels in your hand as your holding it is just right and the other many features it has also makes htis Camcorder an A+ deal! i have not been satisfied with the mac compatibility. I contacted customer support and they could only tell me to contact Apple support. Everything else works fine on my computer and I'm able to view videos from other cameras, just not this one. I have an expensive nice camera, with videos that I can't edit or view on my computer. I can only burn them to EXPENSIVE DVDs and view them on the tv. NOT HAPPY.

We recently had our first child and I researched DVD recorder. I decided to go with this model, and am so thankful I did. Rushing him to daycare one morning I forgot I left the camera sitting on the roof from the night before. About 1 minute down the paved road, traveling close to 35 MPH, I heard a noise and saw it bouncing in the road behind me, a few pieces strewn about. Miraculously when I pulled over it was still working, and I've used it to capture his cutest moments and easily share them with my family on youtube! I swear by this product, and will never consider buying anything other than a Sony recorder.

I have used several other peoples camcorders over the years. I have used several different models from the most expensive to the least expensive. When my husband gave me this for a Christmas gift, I was thrilled. It is one of the best and easiest camcorders I have ever used. It is not fuzzy or blurry during zooming as long as you have the auto focus on. Even if you don't have the auto focus on, it does clear up within a few seconds. I would recommend this camcorder to anyone, especially if you are just starting out because it is so easy to use. Thank you Sony...

I bought this to replace a 14 year old RCA VHS-C Camcorder. I figured in 14 years this has to be a pretty good Camcorder even if it's one of Sony's cheaper models. But, I can honestly say it is not. Very grainy Video even in HQ mode. I actually don't see any difference between HQ and SP modes. Outside in good light I guess it's acceptable. But indoors even during daylight the Video is poor. Inside, the auto focus is slow. I really don't understand where the good reviews are coming from.
