This camera is really nice, especially for the price. The video quality is descent and the features never seem to end. The zoom-mic is effective and really cool. The menu is easy to access and navigate. Super fast start up! Spot metering and focusing available and easy to use. If you want a good camera for a good price this is the one you want. Only problem I've found is sometimes when you turn it on the focus is shot and you need to restart it a few times to get the focus back on track.

For the casual user who just needs a convenient camcorder, this is an excellent buy. The video and audio quality is on par with any digital standard-definition camcorder, and I've used it for several semi-professional shoots with tremendous results. However, as is ALWAYS the case with video cameras, you get what you pay for - with no on-board lighting or external microphone input, and an LCD screen that crops the true image and distorts contrast and brightness, your best bet is to either trust its automatic settings (which usually do a decent job), or use a trustworthy external monitor to perfect what you're shooting with the camera's awesome manual settings. This camera will also mount as an external hard drive on your computer (CAUTION: Supposedly does not work with Macs). Just be sure to purchase it with an extended warranty, as my screen broke within a year. Also, don't expect to use the photo mode on this, ever. If you have this camera with you, you also have a cell phone that will take pictures ten times better than this camera. Or take a video and extract the screen shot later - I honestly have no idea how the photos can look THIS bad! FINAL REVIEW: Great blogging and home use camera, but semi-pros should use it as a backup device only, or be ready to perfect the shoot location and tweak the footage in post-production. Do not purchase for photos.

this is a very good deal so far. i got this camera monday. i have recorded my guitar lessons and random guitar videos. this camera is a great deal i thought because it was $299.99 but it was on sale for $269.99. it is a good quality sound, its not HD of course but good standard quality. it is pretty goood in low light, i even filmed in my basement with just a lamp on. the battery has i think 130 mins fully charged non-stop video. i have actually done over an hour of recording already. i belive the 8GB Hard Drive it has, will hold 2 hours worth of video. plus you can add more with a sony pro duo SD card. but u can only use the Sony pro duo SD card with all sony items.

I bought this after doing a lot of research. I needed a camcorder to video our first child and it does great! I must say that people need to be realistic. This is NOT a HD camera, it will NOT look as good as an HDDVD or BLURAY! If you view it on a large HDTV screen you WILL notice it isn't as good as your Hollywood movies. You NEED a VERY expensive HD digital camera with Final Cut Studio or something similar to even come close to the quality some people are asking for. This camera is just an affordable way to record family memories. It fits in my wife's purse and it is really easy for a non-video professional to use. I got EXACTLY what I expected and it works great with my Macbook Pro. Please note, I am running the latest mac OSX Snow Leopard and iLife 09.

I bought this camera just before a cruise to the bahamas, the videos are great, but the quality of the still pictures is terrible. I see posts here that they are terrific, so if someone can give me insight into this that would be great. Every picture I took with this camera is not printable and I am so disappointed.

I bought this camera, and I have a brand new All in One iMac. This camera DOES work with a Mac. Some reviews say it is not compatible, but it is. Even Sony's advertisements say it will not work with the Mac OS, but IT DOES!! With a Mac, you do not need to install any software to run the program. All you do is plug in the camera to your Mac and iMovie does the rest. It is very simple!

I really really love this camera. It's my first camcorder I've ever had, but I think it was very simple to figure out. It has great audio quality as well as great visual quality. It's even better because of it's LCD screen, which is a touchscree, 270 swivel screen, and a widescreen. The only thing I don't like about it, however, is the fact that it cannot upload videos onto the mac with Sony software. However, I found a way through searching in the internet. 1) Download this app. http://www.squared5.com/ 2) Then, go onto the apple website and purchase MPEG-2 Playback. Then, you're ready to go. Aside from that, I think the camera is one of the best I've ever seen. 4 Stars only because of the download problem.

This handycam was a great decision for my daughter's baby shower. I bought on the spur of the moment just minutes before the shower for the brand name and features. To my suprise the camera was easy to setup and use. It was so easy that different guest could walk up to it and use. I received several complements on the camera and it's video quality. I used the cam on a tripod as well as handheld and the handheld footage was incredibly great as well. I would highly recommend this cam to anyone and any age.

Shockingly, the camera does not work with an Apple Mac. After recording many hours of family memories, we learned that the camera does not work with a Mac. This is shocking and an incredible disappointment. My family will never purchase a Sony product.
