Could be better.

I recently bought this model at Wal-Mart (NOTE TO SONY: You should REALLY add "Wal-Mart" to your drop-down menu!), and after hooking it up, was disappointed to notice it wouldn't play any discs. Not one. Turns out the belt had slipped. Fortunately, was able to return it for a second model, which works better. Picture and sound: A. Ease of use: F-. (And heaven help you if the instruction manual gets tossed before you have a chance to finish it!! It happened to me, and now I can't get the TV stations back on!) Not sure if I'll ever buy another one if this conks out.

Inexpensive and I know why

At first glance, this is a tremendous bargain at the price. First impressions are often inaccurate. I looked in the codes section to sync my JVC television with the Sony remote and no codes are listed. After spending over an hour attempting to glean ANY help from the sony website, I threw up my hands in disgust. No live help, no codes and inoperative links on this models page. It sure looks good sitting there but I have no way of changing my TV to Audio/video mode without a code for the remote. I may take this back and buy a cheap Magnavox instead.

Great Value

I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Only thing lacking was a good comparison of the possible hook-ups to the HDTV. The next model up, SR500H, had an HDMI connection and I didn't get that one for the extra $10. I'm using the "Component video with analog sound and am happy with it. I'd like to have seen a quantitative comparison of The other connection types but didn't see one. I really don't know which one(s) provide "progressive scanning" and which ones don't???

Good Purchase - Maybe???

As I mentioned, I have had this DVD player for close to a year now, however, yesterday after I ejected Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, I now can't get it to read any discs, including that disc. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Just bought a second one...

We originally bought the DVP-SR200P when our old DVD player went on the fritz. Before that, we bought a Sony Bravia 32" 1080p TV, the Sony Bravia DVD/Surround Sound sytem and the Sony PS3. After a while we noticed the superior qualty that Sony has provided in their products. Soon after that, we bought the first DVP-SR200P for a different TV, and witnessed no issues. It worked so well, my daughter wanted to buy a DVD player for her room. And you guessed it, she also bought herself the same DVD player. Awesome job Sony, keep up the good work. The only electronics that I will be purchasing in the future will be a Sony product.

Nice DVD player

This is a good DVD player for the price. It has great video quality. It also looks nice with its glossy black finish. No problems with this player.

Small and fits in our den for the TV there.

Purchased for our grandson to use when he visits. Good for a 4 year old to watch his movies in a small room.

Sound Issues

I purchased this player for my mom for her birthday she had it now for less than a year and when I came over one evening they told me that they could not hear the movies playing unless you ran the volume all the way up.

Great Value for the price

I bought this little player as an additional veiwing choice for a rental condo I own at a price that won't break the bank. While not world class by any means, it does offer better build quality than many similiarly priced products and it provides decent picture thru component video and analog outputs. I wish it had an optical output for sound - or better yet, HDMI for both video and sound but that is a lot to ask for a low-priced player. Bottom line - this is a good choice for guest bedrooms or other non-primary uses but I would never recomend this as a primary player for anyone except those with very limited resources.

Sleek, and Fast!

I am extremely impressed with this small and sleek dvd player! It's fast, and produces and outstanding life-like picture on my TV! I recently purchased a new Sony 22EX308 TV and that's where the dvd player is going to be permanently hooked up to. I did however hook it up to my tube Sony color tv that permanently turned black and white, and the picture is stunning on that as well! For $39.99 you really can't go wrong! At first I wasn't so sure about a green led display on the player, but I've grown to it because I found out that the cable box has the same green color power light! It's understandable that there are cheaper dvd players out there, but hey ANY Sony that I've had has exceeded my standards in style and functionality. Why not spend the extra $5 dollars and get a SONY. If you're looking for the cheapest, trust me, don't go cheapest! Get the second cheapest. This dvd player will last you forever!

No Sound After 2nd Play

Just bought this DVD player. Worked great for the first movie I watched on it. During the second movie there was a slight 'pop.' Now there is no sound.
