I bought this player a couple of days ago and I have been nothing but impressed. It's a basic player without smart features like Wifi and streaming capabilities but it works well. I have bunches and bunches of DVDs and wanted a good player after my DVD-VCR combo bit the dust after 20 years of service. I have loved Sony products and I have a few of them. They all are built with good quality. This DVD player is no different. I'm sure it will provide me with many years of enjoyment.

Purchased this DVD player to replace one that was 10 years old. Took it out of the box and set up in short time only issue is I have one video input and naturally I chose the wrong Vid out from the DVR and only got B&W. Switched to the other output and color came right up. Works great.

When you put a disc on the tray and close the tray the DVD player doesn't acknowledge the disc. When you open it and close it a second time it acknowledges the disc and itplays it.

Lost instructions to player and remote. Two moves later I have this dvd gather dust. I can play a dvd in it. There is no way to find information from sony on how to program any of their remotes to the DVD. This is not why I bought Sony products. It is also why I gave them such a low rating.

I really like it. It takes up less space on my dresser,it's beside of my tv. It works really well. This is a good basic DVD player. Sony products are awesome. I really like them.

Just picked this up from the store. Was not an easy install. Once installed and put in DVD, it played in black and white. Could not get it to play in color. The pictures were distorted and could not fix that. The troubleshooting area, of the instructions, was not helpful at all. I will be returning this to the store tomorrow and will find another brand to buy.

I bought this machine because it had the Red, White and Yellow RCA jack outputs. I am happy about this. I don't have to switch over everything I own.

I bought this due to my old DVD player being destroyed, this vs. the old silver box looked a lot better on my entertainment center, (black blends perfectly.) The only flaws I would like to mention is, the product doesn’t have a pause button on the actual box, the player is slow to respond to the buttons, and the spring that closes the front where the disc tray comes out, it popped off once (it took forever to fix,) it popped off again never to be found. Other than these things, the player is good.

This was purchased with good intent as an anniversary gift for my husband. It turned on once. The remote control it seems is the problem. Broken. And it's a very poor design as you can do almost nothing without the remote control. Had read good reviews and had high hopes. Very disappointed.

Set up diagram is not clear. Troubleshooting guide is not helpful. 2 sets of cables are required and only one set is included. Took 2 online chats and an email to get clear set up instructions and confirm need to obtain another cable. All items required for set up should be included with initial purchase!

Amazingly easy to hookup and setup. We have several Sony Products in the house, TV's and DVD players, and are amazed how far the setup technology has come to make it easy for a non-tech person to hook them up and setup. Everything in the directions worked just like the instructions said and it works great, even on our old TV. Thank you for a job well done, it is so nice to have something this easy and can enjoy the product in about 30 minutes.

I got the Sony Luminous DVD player for my birthday last year. It made all movies look so much better! Almost 3-D! I was very impressed! After awhile it began to say "Loading..." then pause. Sometimes it would start back up. Unfortunately the problem got worse and it began to just pause and none of the buttons on the remote would work at all. That was when watching the Netflix or Amazon app. I would have to unplug it and I noticed it was very hot. After waiting for it to cool down I plugged it back in. This has been progressively worse. Now it will not even get through a whole movie. Since it has a USB port, I plugged it in to watch some saved shows, and it worked great for awhile now it is locking up and I cannot even back out to see where I am in the show. The picture looks great so this is really a shame. It won't even turn off unless I unplug it. I even sat it up so it was not sitting directly on anything and can get cool air under it but it heats up anyway. It is past the return time or I would return it. Sony products are usually great but not this time. Disappointed!

With only 3 months of use, the DVD drawer will not open. I am not happy. Also plugging in the wires to connect with the TV was confusing. One yellow plug had to go to a green receptacle.
