Review Summary

I was expecting a lot more from this given the reviews it had. The still pictures are extremely grainy on the best setting. They are not even half as good as my iPhone 4. The video is good, but not as clear as expected. Especially on the new LED tv. The low light recording is mediocre at best. I think the old night shot is better than what this camera does. If i could do it again, i would not buy this camcorder. When i tried to do a Highlight movie, the camera would never complete it and froze up on it. Took forever to get it to shut off and restart, as in over 30 minutes! I think i got a lemon. The good things about it are it's size. Small and compact and easy to carry. The projector is awesome...i would recommend a screen. And it takes most memory cards, not just the Pro Stick.

great quality, and so light weight, also very easy to use,
Shoot in Full HD 60p and enjoy your footage anywhere with Sony 16 GB HDR-PJ380 Handycam Camcorder (Red). Featuring a handy built-in projector, you can project your footage onto any wall or flat surface for instant entertainment. Plus, it works with HDMI-compatible phones, laptops and tablets, so you can connect and project movies, Internet videos and more up to 100" diagonally. Plus, get great close-ups with 30x zoom and keep your video smooth and shake-free with Optical SteadyShot image stabilization.
Precious moments become even more special the second time around when captured in exquisitely rich 1920 x 1080/60p Full HD video. Notice the perfect photo op while recording? You can shoot 8.9 MP still images and video at the same time so you won't miss an ounce of the action. Gather up the gang and share your fantastic footage on the big screen simply by connecting the camcorder to your compatible HDTV with an HDMI cable.
Featuring a high-contrast 13-lumen projector built into the LCD panel, you can transform your camcorder into a mobile movie theater by projecting onto a wall or virtually any flat surface. It's great for sharing footage on the fly and since it works with HDMI-compatible smartphones, laptops and tablets, you can also project YouTube videos, photos, full-length films and more. It's tons of fun for family movie night and super convenient for professionals who want to share presentations on the spot.
Sometimes it's difficult to move closer to faraway subjects to nail the shot and that's where powerful zoom enters the equation. Featuring Extended Zoom digital technology that works in conjunction with 30x optical zoom, you can get 55x closer to the action, all while maintaining HD image quality. Your video will be crisp and clear, even as you pan in for extreme close-ups.
Optical SteadyShot image stabilization with Active Mode compensates for greater degrees of camera shake to deliver stunningly smooth video-from wide angle, all the way to full telephoto shooting. Innovative 3-way shake-canceling adds electronic roll stability for even smoother video capture. It's perfect for shooting footage while walking, chasing after the kids, from a moving vehicle or any other less-than-steady scenario.
When it comes to HD quality and file size, you've got options. Choose between shooting in the AVCHD or MP4 formats depending on how you plan to use and share the footage. AVCHD provides premium video quality that looks amazing when played back on large screen HDTVs. MP4 is a smaller file size perfect for quick, easy uploads to sites like Facebook and YouTube or storing in the cloud. The best part? It's all HD and it all looks incredible.
Your subjects will stay crisp, clear and blur-free, thanks to advanced focusing technology. Working as an extension of Face Detection technology, Tracking Focus allows you to select the subject you'd like to keep in focus simply by touching the LCD. Even if the object leaves the frame and then comes back in again, the camcorder will maintain a tack-sharp focus as your subject moves in and out of view.
