We purchased this camcorder to use in our Church service and we?re disappointed in how awkward and uncomfortable it is to use. It can only be used comfortably with a tripod - IF you have a large enough area to set it up and maneuver it . I would not recommend it.

Great low light performance. Works great with a NP-F 970 battery I purchased elsewhere. I haven't tried the battery that came with the camera (I believe it's a 570). Battery usage is great. The electronic view finder is just terrible, there's no other way to put it. No matter which angle you try, no matter how hard you squint, it's a blur. Don't even bother trying to pull focus with it let alone modify settings. Stick to the LCD and hope you can avoid the sun's reflection on the screen. All in all it is a superb camera, but if the viewfinder is important to you, I'd look elsewhere. Also worth mentioning, the viewfinder and LCD can't be used simultaneously, you must close the screen fully before using the viewfinder (which you probably wouldn't do in the first place).

The Sony HXR-NX100 Camcorder does the job of a second video camera for my wedding business. The dual SD card insures mt footage is safe in case of a failed card. I also like the remote feature as I can turn on record and off standing at my main camera without the need of a second person. The price was better than Amazon since it included the battery. That's another plus on this camera, I can use my existing Sony batteries since they are both compatible.

This camera is working well for my Legal Videography job. The video looks good. It great being able to record the timestamp to the video without recording any of the other onscreen information. This was not an option on my previous Canon camera. The bundle is what sold me on buying this camera from Adorama. I was pleasantly surprised to find the quality of the products in the bundle where higher than what I expected them to be. I would purchase this again.

I am a cinematographer who shoots most of my projects on the Panasonic GH5, which shoots 4K video in 10 bit 422 color space. I also have a lot of the Sony NP batteries for most of my lights and decided to get a second camera that uses the same battery and could serve as a companion camera for my GH5. So when I say that this Sony camcorder is not only a great camera in its own right but also makes a surprisingly fantastic companion for the GH5, I assure you that I am 100% serious. Even though most people who have discussed this camera previously have not used the word "Cinema" when doing so, I would argue that this can be a great cinema camera. First of all, not only does it feature 1/48 shutter speed for the 24p frame rate, but it also allows you to change it to shutter angle for a perfect 180-degree shutter. The image and color quality is incredible as you might have expected from Sony. The dynamic range, though not as high as S-Log, is still just wide enough. Perhaps the most critical thing for filmmakers to understand is that you don't always need the highest bit rate or color space to create the best image possible. Remember, Act of Valor was shot in 8 bit 420 color at 1080p resolution, and it played very well on the big screen. It still holds up to this day. As I said before, this also makes an excellent companion for my GH5. While I enjoy having the ability to shoot 4K if needed, I tend to record the majority of my projects in 1080p anyway, mostly because I prefer the aesthetics of that resolution. The 1-inch sensor found in this Sony camcorder is only slightly smaller than a Micro Four Thirds sensor in the GH5. Both of which are, incidentally, roughly the same size as Super 16mm film. Probably the best aspect of this Sony camcorder is the full customization of the Picture Profiles. With a few tweaks here and there I was able to create some Profiles that just about matched some of the picture settings on my GH5, including Cinelike-D. As with any camera, there are a few things I do wish, were a little bit better. I would have liked a joystick for better menu navigation instead of pushing small and somewhat strangely placed buttons. I also would have wanted a rotating handle grip, a constant aperture throughout the zoom range, and for Sony to put out a firmware update to include some more recording options. I'm aware that there is a 4K version of this camera, the Z150, but I don't think it's worth the extra $2,000. FIlmmakers take note, there is much more to this camera than you may think. Regardless of what kind of video person you are, be you a beginner or a veteran camera person, this is a fantastic machine with plenty of professional level features at an incredible price.

This is the second nx100 I have purchased. The first unit was destined for use on a Steadicam rig. We liked it so much we bought a second unit for use on a 4 foot jib. Matching the two cameras is a snap, color purity, deffinition, and ease of use make these units our go-to cameras even when we have high end studio cameras on tripods. In studio or in the field, these units are top of the line. Lack of 4K is not an issue, period.

I've been shooting videos for a while. Did a project for a major retailer, using an iPhone 6S and it turned out great, but nothing like a pro (or semi-pro) camcorder would do. This is like switching from the iPhone camera to a DSLR, but for video. The capabilities and flexibility of this camera, and the large sensor are a killer combination for an unbelievable price. I would strongly recommend, as soon as you buy this camera (or the Z150), to get the Doug Jensen Vimeo course. It is AMAZING!. I also purchased a heavy duty 72" tripod, LED lighting, shotgun microphone, and an LCD screen hood.

I purchased our first HXR-NX100 from Adorama back in February. I just purchased our 2nd one for both back up and two camera shooting to maintain consistently looking footage. I really like a lot of the features this model has and the quality of video it produces. My team and I do both professional photography and video all over the US. We also shoot video using the Canon 5D Mark III which is better in low light than the Sony. Although we have tested the Sony at 21 gain and the image noise/grain level seems fine. Here are two things that I don't like: 1) No mini audio input which would be nice for our Rode wireless mics, but most professionals want XLR which it has. However, a mini audio plug would have been nice. 2) It occasionally has issue grabbing focus. At the end of the day, it's a great camcorder for the money or I would not have purchased two of them this year.

Pros: very good image quality, easy to use, manual controls, full auto, face detection, peaking,etc... Cons: doesn't have a second shoe adaptor at back of the camera, most of the people will need only one shoe to put the light at front, but for those like me who need to put a second item like a wireless microphone receiver or a video transmission system will need to figure it out how to attach it (this is the reason why I took 1/2 star,the other 1/2 star less is because of the packing of Adorama, please guys put an extra box for these kind of delicates items, my box was damaged, likely the camera inside was fine, I took a video before opening it, and I open it because I was needing the camera, other wise I wouldn't open it and returned.
