I purchased the Sony voice recorder after returning another well-known brand twice! At first, I thought it was a faulty product, but the second identical model was exactly the same - it didn't do what it said on the box!! So I opted for the Sony and I am so pleased that I did. It is easy to hold, has the speaker at the top (rear and front speakers tend to get covered by your fingers), the clarity of the sound is amazing and overall, it has a very easy-on-the-eye menu system. I am so pleased that I bought this product over and above any other brand.

Bought to replace a ten year old Olypus. Does the job, mic not as sensitive as I would like (meetings) Good organisation, connectivity, saves as .wav.

My immediate use is to record conversations with the doctors who will operating on my boyfriend. So far it has worked quite well, though I had one instance where the built-in microphone really didn't pick up enough of the phone conversation, and I don't think an external mic would have helped. I am still very happy with it overall...very small, easy to use, and the software that comes with it is pretty cool.

I HAVE LOST THE FIRST PART OF 2 DIFFERENT INTERVIEWS AFTER THE RECORDER SHUT OFF. I QUICKLY TURNED IT BACK ON AND COULD NOT FIND THE FIRST PART OF THE RECORDING. I USE THIS FOR CONTRACT WORK AND AM FRUSTRATED THAT I CANT RELY ON THIS RECORDER. MAYBE I AM USING IT WRONGLY. THE RECORDER IS A LITTLE OVER A MONTH OLD.

I bought it 6 month ago for recording lectures and seminars at uni and very happy with this product.Good quality of recording, clear hearing without any noise on the background, easy to use. Worth every penny you spend and it is not expensive comparing to other recorders. Highly recommend it

This is a great little recorder, the microphones pick up voices very clearly and it records music with outstanding fidelity. There seems to be some confusion about the specs for this model, however. The one I have has no abilitly to manually set record levels, and there is no mention of such ability in the manual or 'help guide'. Sony must have upgraded/changed the specs, because the current ads for this same model say it has the option of manual record levels, which is one reason I chose this model. I am disappointed that my UX533 doesn't have this capability. On the other hand, I got it for a very low price. Maybe the older ones w/o this feature are going for less.

All my electronics are Sony, TVs, Tablet, Digital Voice Recorder. Had an earlier generation recorder but it was not compatible with my Windows 8, so I purchased the newer one. I use it everyday to do my shopping, etc. It is a wonderful tool to keep in your car to record a thought or a subject you hear on the radio. It is a great means of recording special gatherings and transferring to CDs, I highly recommend this recorder.
