The sound will go out for 10-15 seconds, and the picture occasionally will go out when switching from HD to a regular channel. Sometimes it will only show half a screen when switching from HD to a regular channel. Sony sent me a refurbished TV and it had the exact same problems. The software update did nothing to correct the problems. It is apparent that Sony does not stand behind their products. I offered to pay the difference on a newer model, but Sony declined my offer.

People! It is called and HDTV! In order to pull HD Quality from it you need to input an HD feed! Such as a Blu-Ray Player, a PS3, HD Cable or watch regular HD programing via the TV's internal Antenna! That being said do some research next time before you buy a new TV. Don't give a great TV a bad review because you didn't know any better. I think this TV is a great TV to use with your HD equipment! Looks very crisp and clear, the audio is a little thin but it's not horrible at all either! The remote is very well built and I had no problem syncing my satellite remote up to it as well. Video games look fantastic on this TV as well. It is nice and sturdy and sits flat and still on my TV stand. WE LOVE IT!

hums at low volume Loud popping - cracking noise when changing inputs Hdmi control sends video to hdmi input 1 but audio to hdmi input 2 or 3 when hooked to PC. My first and last Sony TV. Be sure to read reviews of this TV at Amazon.com Other online retailers seem to be selectively editing out negative reviews so they can unload this lemon.

I've been wanting to buy an hdtv for a long time now. I had my digital cable box and my PS3 connected to a generic brand tube tv. So after months of online research and many trips to wal mart and best buy, I decided to go with the KDL-32S5100. I couldn't be happier with this hdtv. Please note that to truely get the most out of this hdtv, you must use hdmi cables, preferably Sony hdmi cables. The picture from this hdtv is amazing, and my blu-ray movies and PS3 games look incredible. And I have no complaints about the sound, which is also great. I opted for the 32 inch because it's perfect for the size of my room, the price was reasonable and it came with a free sound bar when I bought it. So this is a great hdtv and I recomend to anyone to buy it.

This TV is a great buy in its price point. The 1080p resolution is awesome and the speaker sound is amazing when watching a bluray disc. The TV does a great job even when watching on the standard resolution input. Very pleased with the quality and performance of the KDL-32S5100.I have this tv mounted on the wall of my exercise room. The screen has very good viewablity from all angles. Overall Great TV!

This TV was to replace another Sony TV tube flat. Now the picture was horrible the sales associate never told us that we needed special cables for the TV. Went out and purchased. Didn't make a difference. my old TV picture quality shows 10x better. So I returned it hoping that the XPR is better if not I will return that one to for another brand altogether. The sound it is OK you can hear it at 1 if you want good surround sound then you may want to buy it a system. unsatisfied & not impressed!

I have been hooked to Sony ever since I owned the Trinitron. Their picture and sound clarity is amazing! At 60Hz this is a good deal. If you have deeper pockets 120Hz or higher is available but to be frank, I am getting a good performance from this TV. My friend who was boasting of his Samsung LED tv could not help but admire the sound quality. And with their Trusurround processing, if you get your room acoustics right it can get you decent surround as well. Only thing I hate about buying Sony in USA is that they stick to the 110V. In India they sell devices that work on all ranges. Why don't you do it here too Sony?

i received this tv as a bday present from my father and i was hesitant at first just from the looks as i like the more shiny look. he talked me into getting the tv so i agreed bc of name brand, the 1080p, and plus he bought it. i brought it home, the set up couldnt have been easier!!! after the set up the picture was crisp and clear! i couldnt have been more happier with the television and was happy he talked me into it!!! after watching a dvd i just fell in love! i couldnt be more happier with the purchase, it was inexpensive for a great 1080p 32" lcd!!!! once again, AMAZING!!!!

I will rate this product on three parameters: 1. How you use the product: From the outer looks at a first glance you may not like that much. As compared to other makers and even other lower model from Sony, this one looks much dull. I like the grill design of even the lower model 32L4000. Glossy touch on the outer frame adds a little shine to the frame, other wise it would have been the worst look-feel compared to the latest models of Sony LCD. I like the remote a lot. Allways feel like holding it, its so light and sleak, it works a little slower though, but thats not any problem. 2. Things that are great about it: Good clear and sharp image. Good 1080P LCD for a decent price. First attahed this tv to my upconvertible dvd player with component cable. This setting gave good image quality, but nothing that i was expecting from a LCD. Then i replaced component with HDMI. This gave 1080i and i could see good improvement in the picture quality. I believe with blu ray player and blue ray disk with HDMI cable, the pictures should be excellent. 3. Things that aren't so great about it: Poor looks. Brightness decreases when dark scene comes. It looks like you are watching a scene, and some one came and reduced the brightness for no reason and then in 2 to 3 seconds, again increased the brightness. Its really annoying. Many a times i have seen ghost images too. I complained Sony and it looks like these 2 problems are with most of the S5100 series of any size. They have a software upgrade released on 04/28, one can download it too, and they are sending that via mail. I have to see once it comes and that corrects these issues or not. Over all I would suggest you to buy from Sony but not at least this 32S5100 series. Accessories I Recommend: Blu ray player, HDMI cable
