Really great TV.

I am really very happy with this TV. I read loads of reviews and decided on this one. Its mounted on my wall with the new SU-WH500 mount which makes it seem like my TV is hanging like a picture. Very discreet mount. I am not a TV expert and the quality and performance works perfect for me. I have the TV connected to the Sony BDP-S370 blue ray player and enjoy hours of Pandora and movies. I've also connected to Pandora from the TV as well using a wireless signal. The TV has lots of options for connecting to internet content as well, Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, etc. I have not fiddled much with the TV settings and generally watch all programs with normal picture settings. The sound was decent but I bought the Sony Sound Bar system CT-150 instead which has been great. Overall it's a really great TV. Go for it!

It's really a Sony

A bit pricier than Samsung. The sound is a too small for a big TV but the quality is okay. The picture is gorgeous. There are several ways to adjust the picture and sound until you find the perfect setting for your environment and your eyes. I wonder how it compares with Samsung when viewing non-hd shows. It's not as difficult to set up as other reviewers indicated. The internet was fairly easy to set up too and I am not an IT person. I set up Netflix which I have yet to watch. There are some Yahoo website access too and I hope there is no charge. The remote feels and looks elegant. My cable remote did not pick up the TV volume function maybe because it's a newer model so I have to call Sony and get their new 3-digit code. I am not too sure about the reliability yet so just 3 stars there, knowing it's a Sony. The TV is a day old. Overall, we love it so far.

Sony Bravia 40NX700 Review

Overall, I like this Sony TV. the picture quality is not as good as my Pioneer Plasma, but much better than my previous samsung LCD. Best with my PS3 gaming and blueray. I love it.

Don't buy it

I evaluate TV’s on two criteria: 1- Visual picture quality and 2- Interface, that is the remote, the menus under the remote and the documentation. Sony gets a B+ for visual picture quality and an F for user interface. On this basis I would not recommend that you buy this or any other Sony TV. The remote is a horrible design. The keys are very low and, in some critical areas very tightly spaced leading to frequent mis-key entries. The menus are statements rather than “how to” information. There is almost no written documentation. All documentation is “on screen” and not interactive so if you want to follow the few directions, be prepared with a pen and paper to write it down. The menus do not lead you toward a solution. Rather they lead you to a dead end.

Another Sony Hit

I have been a Sony fan for many years. The technology, quality and integration into a home WiFi system are all reasons to own this HDTV. I have owned it for just two weeks and have put the set through many paces without a hiccup. The initial set up, including home WiFi connection, was a breeze and the TV automatically downloaded a software update from the Sony site. The TV can be used as a stand alone video and audio entertainment center even when I don't turn the satellite receiver on. I am REALLY impressed!

Great picture/solid tv

I have been reading reviews on how complex this TV is and how there is creaking sounds coming from the back and the speakers are not good. Well my honest opinion is this TV has a truly amazing picture. I put in a blu-ray in and turn motion flow on high; the TV is so clear that you can tell where they have added special effect compared to actual video footage (which means until CGI gets better I will likely not use the high setting). Yes the TV does have a lot of settings, but I do not know why people complain; Sony is giving you options on how you want the picture to look (use a internet reference if you want to learn what everything does). Sound: if you consider what you are buying an LED (low power consumption) TV; why would Sony use speakers that are just going to escalate power consumption? If you want quality sound with any TV; an alternative sound source is always required (the TV’s speakers work perfect for average TV use and even with Pandora if you are in the room. The complexity is not that bad, read up on forums on what settings do and adjust them accordingly. Most of what you want done will be set when you first turn on the TV (it will walk you thru the setup process). Overall, my experience has been awesome and I would recommend this TV to anyone.

amazing design; picture itself is solid

i'd buy it again without regrets. However, wish the picture itself was a bit better - its not much better than my ex500 (!). viewing angles are not good but that is to be expected. internet features beautifully integrated. beautiful when off.

Need to be a rocket scientist/brain surgeon to run

Had this for a week, aside from plugging in the satellite box I can get it to do naff all. All the junk about hey it plays You tube, hey it plays Digital camera pictures, hey it connects wirelessly - CR*P. Sony take note, there are NO useful intelligible instructions to be had anywhere. The remote control help button tells me nothing. How to obtain a registration code for your device. 1.Please make sure your BRAVIA internet enabled TV is connected to your network, powered on and active HOW? HOW? It says wireless enabled, where are the instructions where? This is a BIG let down. I am a skilled programmer, I use technology everyday, I can build and configure pcs / routers / printers / networks / html / php / .java / javascript /vb./ jquery. Even Joomla is not this bad. I cannot get my tv to do any of the CR*P that the salesman said it would do. Visited the site for more info, printed off the instructions, gee just the same as the 4 page manual that came with the TV. Disappointed big time.

Needs Work

My husband and I were given this tv by my son and loved it as we opened the box but after a week we want to send it back. The tv makes creaking noises from the back of the set while you are watching a show. Then it keeps making them after you turn it off - at least for a little while. Also the speakers are a step down from our last Sony. Not sure why they made them worse.
