Cont. Pro's= Easy Battery Change, Monitor Button for when someone is trying to talk to you while they're on, etc. I loved this set, I've had it for like 3 years now with no issues at all, I am a sound designer and these are perfect for when I am working alone in a loud place, such as a high school theater. It was the best investment of $150 I ever made, if you can find one, get it, it was and still is worth it.

II received these headphones brand new for Christmas and was very excited. They look very nice and their sound quality was excellent, I felt they were better than my Father's $500 Bose headphones. After a month I periodically heard small periods of scratchy white noise in my right earpiece, and after a couple more weeks this was an occurrence happening every ten to fifteen seconds. I was very let down because I always kept them in their case and never listened when lying down or during exercise to be sure not to induce a loose wire or break/bend of the frame. After this became a serious problem I sent them back on the 90 day warranty. I trusted Sony and have for many years with their electronics and trusted this was a very rare one time mishap that happened to me. I trusted Sony to replace my headphones with a new set free of imperfections. Today I received my headphones in the mail and as my excitement arose I come to find that they sent me a pair of refurbished headphones. This brought up some concern as I was expecting a new set but I figured as long as that scratchy white noise sound was absent I would be satisfied. As I opened my new headphones I found that I received a worn down pair of headphones that exhibited an immense frequency of use in comparison to my spotless pair that I sent back, with scratches on the brushed metal. I pressed the button to open up the pop-up battery compartment and of course, this didn't pop-up but I had to pry it open with my fingers. Then as I began to become legitimately upset I turned them on, plugged in my iPod and found the same scratchy white noise protruding into my ear from the right ear piece, except this pair also happened to have an unbalanced volume level between the two earpieces with the broken right earpiece proclaiming a much lower volume level than the left. The left earpiece sounded great but obviously than is not important when I am trying to listen to music in both my ears. I do not have a hearing problem I tested the headphones with several friends and family and with many a different iPod to make sure it wasn't that which was causing the problem. All I want is for Sony to send me a new set of headphones. I do not want another pair of refurbished malfunctioning headphones; I just want a new pair that works. But besides that this is a great set of headphones

These were Amazing Headphones! But the thing that is not true is that some people say they block so much noise without music. THIS IS NOT TRUE! Other than that, the price was A LOT. But they were definately worth it! I really like these headphones and can tell they will last at least 5 years!

I ordered these headphones through a retailer for a price of 130$. It was one of my best purchases ever. I'd first like to say that humming sounds mentioned in other reviews comes from not wearing the headphones correctly. The Sony instructions booklet says that. Noise cancelling is meant for loud places, but I use it when I'm in my house and my brother is being annoying. At a low volume and noise cancelling on I can still barely hear him if that. The music quality is also really good, the best quality I've heard from a pair of headphones I own anyway. I love the features too. I just like big headphones that go over your ears are around your ears. I prefer around your ears, because they're comfy. I tend to wear my headphones around my neck and my old pair of headphones would always get caught by the cord, but with these I can just take off the cord and stick in my pocket. In other words these are an excellent pair of headphones and are worth the money, but you can find them cheaper than 199.99$.

I love these. Best headphones I have ever had. At first I didn't think to much of the noise canceling feature, seemed decent, but not up to what I paid for. Generally I was using them on bus rides, and very crowded noisy places. Then I took them to my auto class, I unplugged the cord and put them around my neck because I didn't want to get them stolen. We where getting a lesson on the brake machine, which was pretty loud, then the air compressor which we where standing right next to went on, needless to day, this thing was incredibly loud. I thought, "hey, lets try these headphones out." I put them on, and right away without noise canceling on, a good 40%-50% was gone, then I flipped the switch. The where Amazing! They canceled out almost all of the sound, I could barley hear this thing that was roaring right next to me. Keep in mind, this was without music or anything, I would say with my music at just 25% all the noise would have been gone. After that day, loved these headphones, but it did a similar job in other situations too, definitely recommended for anyone who wants good noise canceling headphones.

I've tried several models of the Sony NC headphones with much regret until I finally got the over the ear style 60's. On my first flight with them I would every so often intentionally turn them off then back on to be amazed at how much of the noise was cancelled. With other in the ear or similar designs I still had to turn the PSP up all the way to hear a movie or music. With these I got by with about 75% volume and was very comfortable. The little AAA battery only lasted about 8 hours for me but maybe I'll get better luck later on. Don't try the NC function in an area that's not really noisy b/c you get a weird thump from the headphones trying to find something to cancel out I guess. Only reason I didn't give 5's across the board are b/c I kind of want to try out the "digital" NC headphones they have, I'm really please though, thanks Sony...

Noise cancelling features work great. one rechargeable AAA lasts a long time, 4-6 RT flights across the country. Ear "cups" are comfortable and the over the head strap is cushioned and does not irritate as some other types have. Reduces ambient noises very well, eg airplane motors. Works well with my mp3 and portable DVD players. These are not the most efficient speaker drivers. It takes a bit of juice from my devices to get the volume to a good level. Sometimes my DVD player runs at max volume to make things audible. And I am not a fan of loud noises directly in my ear. Sound quality is good but these do not function as an audiophile set of headphones. I like mine a lot and recommend them.

The Sony MDR-NC60 Noise Canceling Headphones provide 16.5dB noise reduction at 200Hz. This means you can shut out up to 85% of the ambient noise around you, including jet engines, office printers and subway chatter. These headphones are perfect for work, traveling or just when you're trying to sleep in a loud place.
The ear-conscious design offers premium comfort, so you can wear them for long stretches without pinching your ears. For added convenience, the built-in monitor switch lets you hear surrounding sound without taking off the headphones.
