The MHS-CM1 is an extremely simple camcorder and webcam. For it's price, the HD movie quality is very good, however as many camcorders, it also has difficulties filming in the dark. Particularly bothersome is the Auto-focus that sometimes won't stay still. One major defect that sometimes occurs is, that the webcam gets stuck while working and the whole device does not respond to anything. In that case, since there is no battery pack either, you won't be able to restart the device and have to wait until the battery is empty. Generally speaking, it is however a good camera for personal use.

First of all it has horrible quality, like if im trying to take a picture closeup of my eye all you can see is the outline of my eye, you cant see eyelashes or reflections.also, you cant import vids.you have to upload them directly to youtube(and sometimes it doesnt even work!)and then take a screenshot of the video, so you have the little ScreenShot label in the corner, AND no sound. I seirously started bawling when I foudnt his out because I couldn't take the camera back to the store. ITS NOT WORTH WHAT I PAID!

So using the internal memory works fine, the wonderful world of 12mb, but I didnt buy this to use the internal memory, I bought a 16 GB Sony Memory Stick PRO DUO. Webbie has a particular issue with reading memory cards. It is rendered unusable when a memory card is being used, saying " access denied" and "format error". Dont believe me? Just google "MHS-CM1 format error" or "MHS-CM1 access denied". Dont buy this camera!

In general it is a good quality product. The images aren't *quite* as clear as I might have hoped, but for the price it is hard to beat.

even though the camera has light options for low lights, no matter what setting its on its too dark and i can barely see anything im trying to record. even the light on it doesn't help whatsoever, unless whatever your recording is right up to the camera. you cant get anything thats across the room (like 12 feet away). it also takes a long time to focus when zooming in and out and and it takes forever to take the picture after pressing the button and the pictures are blurry and dark. i am really dissapointed and will be taking it back to the store in the morning. its a great price and style but its too dark and the screen has to be at an angle in order to see it, you cant look at it straight on or you cant see anything. its definently worth spending the extra $200 and getting a good camera.

This is the best camera/video camera ever. I love it so much. It's lightweight, and has outstanding speed and HD. It's just like looking in a mirror. It's not slow at all. Best camera ever, thanks Sony.

If there was a word for this video device, it's "Fun". Cheap, quick to start, easy to use, and thus far very reliable (bought it on release day, it's been hanging in a bag from my hip ever since). Does it take as good images and videos as other cameras 3 times its price? Probably not. It has poor color balance, especially in low (or even extremely high) light situations, and its built in battery means you're completely limited to the quoted 85 minute life (I've had less and more, depending on use). Also, be mindful of the narrow field of view. But if you want something that will be a constant companion that's nearly as portable as a cell phone (and takes images with umpteen times the qualit), this is a camera for you. It also works perfectly in OSX. I'm very, very happy with this camera. And it looks great in purple!

This video camera is a great for all around use. Built in light not too powerful. Very smallish in size and weight. Good picture playback on HDTV sources.

I have the camera for almost two weeks. I like the video quality at 720p. I don't like that it doesn't have the strap on the side to keep your hand tight to the camera like the old DV camcorder style. I don't think you can replace the battery yourself. It is built-in. I will probably return this camera.
