FV100 is much larger size than FH40, it hits your face when peeking through the view finder of the camcorder.

It is expensive, but it lasts me days. I purchased it to record me completing jobs I do for eventual use on a website. It lasts so long it is ridiculous. You will get over the price quickly. I also purchased the travel charger and it works well, no problems.

Not too much to say about this one except that it is a great upgrade to any Sony camera. I bought it as a second battery and it does indeed last a long time. I rarely have to change the battery. If I had to say something negative about it, it would be that it has a slow recharge rate, but I have not used other battery brands so I can't compare it.

Great item,[...] We used this for our daughters wedding and the battery lasted over 5 hours with no recharge.

This battery is a must for those who need to keep filming without changing out batteries often. I wish sony would cut a bit of the weight though without sacrificing power.

I bought the battery because I do a lot of outdoor photography. I want something that I don't have to worry about, that I can charge in the morning and have it good for a day or more in a national park. The v100 is rated for eight hours for three times the cost of a v50 which is rated for two hours. It's better than lugging a couple of v50 batteries around and forgetting which is up. I would not consider modifying a battery or using anything which is electrical and defective. I was going to put "weight" down as a "con" but figured that is part of the energy which I bought. I've used Sony video cameras for 20 years and not had a battery problem.

If your camera runs out of juice at the wrong time it's a big problem. I always use name brand batteries.

This battery NP-FV100 is exactly the same as the older version NP-FH100 in size, power, capacity according to the Sony's official spec. the only difference is the notch where it slides into the camcorder so the newer model camcorders won't work with the H batteries and forced to buy this same old V battery with different notch so it slides in to the newer camcorder models. I'd just file off the notch on my old H battery.

Take along extra recording power for your camcorder so that you're prepared to film life's precious memories. This Sony NP-FV100 InfoLITHIUM V Series high capacity battery offers longer battery life than supplied battery and faster re-charging (using AC-VQV10 charger).
