Small and mighty

It may be small but this little device is wonderful. Really easy to load songs onto. The sound is great too It's only 2 faults. The headphones supplied are rubbish, (well they don't stay in my ears) you might want a better pair. And there is no Bluetooth connection if you want to use an external audio speaker, you would need to purchase one with a wired cable Highly recommended mp3 player

Low quality, poor battery life, cheap garbage

I couldn't be more disapponted with this cheap, low quality plastic garbage product. It did work for 2 months, then it could only be switched on by pressing the reset button, now it does not switch on at all unless I connect it via USB for charging. However, once charged and the battery shows full, the battery drains within 1 hour or dies the following night. I had lots of Sony products (reliable walkman and disc player) throughout my life but this mp3 player has nothing to do with the quality Sony once stood for. Really a massive dissapiontment. I really regret having spent 90 Euros for this trash.

Old Ones are Better

I'm sure you've guessed this, I'm sure you've heard it before. The old ones are higher quality. Don't get me wrong, as far as NEW mp3 players go today this is one I would get again, but the old ones are just better. Still better than the cheapos from Ebay, and a bit better than the "at counter" cheapo mp3's you see from smaller brands. Bring back the soul Sony. Where's the passion

No video playback anymore

My husband bought this for me for Christmas to replace both my broken nwz-a816 (which was working for the last ten to 15 years until I accidentally spilled water in the charging port one night) , and my nwz-e465, of which the buttons broke a few years ago. I used to download movie files from my purchased movies so I could listen to them at night in bed, but was sorely disappointed when I found out this one did not support video feed. So, I returned it. I wish Sony would have a better policy of fixing their older items because I loved my other mp3 players and still have them, so maybe one day they can be fixed.

Will Not Work With MAC Computer

The Content Transfer "Sony" software does not work as it Crashes when I attempt to open the app. This Walkman is useless with the Content Transfer software working. Is Sony going to update the Content Transfer software so it will work with Mac Computers? If Sonny will not update and you own a Mac computer do not purchase this device.

No COMPATIBLE SONY software available to use mp3!!

I bought this player a few months ago and use it to work out. After updating operating system software on my Mac, I can no longer transfer music onto the the player. I contacted both Apple and Sony. It is Sony's responsibility to keep its own software up to date and this has not been the case for this player. Would highly recommend NOT buying this product or ANYTHING else from SONY that requires a Sony software download or you will have something you eventually will never be able to use.

Impossibly complex software - was unable to use

Bought this to replace Ipod (which broke) - on the basis of Amazon reviews of this product. I have spent hours trying to find a way to download music to it but have failed to either download iTunes to it or to get Amazon music to download to it. Unless you are a computer geek, this is about a frustrating a device as I've come across.

Painful for Mac users

This is a very decent product and easy use... if you have windows. It's such a pain to try and download my songs from a Mac because Sony doesn't take iTunes or Apple Music. Sure you can download songs from the Mac but you need a converter which costs more money and while you can download songs from youtube onto a MP3 but they'll all download individually and that takes such a long time to do song by song and isn't worth it. There probably is a way you can download iTunes onto this but is it worth it? Not for me it isn't.

I bought one about 2 years ago and it wasn't keeping its charge and it finally died without any reason and I had a warranty so i returned it and got the exact same model about 6 months ago and it worked pretty well and kept its charge I was happy. but yesterday it died again without any reason... They never saw water and never fell on the ground...

Very friendly

Just wonderful! I bought the Beat Pill as a speaker to go with it. I don’t use headphones. I listen to my music mostly in the bath tub and in the kitchen, while cooking.

Cheap, poor quality - awful vs previous models

I've been using Sony products almost exclusively for over 25 years - including a dozen of these MP3 players, but the more recent ones are simply so much cheaper feeling, have poor screen resolution. Album art rarely works and playlists don't work either although they worked perfectly in the past. What has happened to Sony quality? Really sad...

Sony MP3 player, could be better

I bought this over a month ago and it is fine for play mp3's and wma but is a let down with some of the buttons being too flat and unresponsive, a pain when all you want to do is power off. It also cuts down the volume on occasion. A feature I could do with out.

Perfect for my Musical Needs

I bought my NWZ-E385 (16GB) a few years ago because I just wanted a player for my second vehicle (first vehicle is using an old iPhone 4 as a player... and nothing else). Don't want to tie up my phone to play music - wanted a nice, compact player with adequate storage for just music and this is perfect for me. Play through an FM radio transmitter so I can listen to it on the vehicle's audio system (no aux input). Sony isn't the only brand I trust, but I've been buying their products a long time and have been happy with every one. The only thing I don't like on this Walkman are the locations of the Back and Option buttons. If I want to skip a song while driving, I'm keeping my eyes on the road and doing it just by feeling - hard to tell exactly what my finger is touching. But if I hit a slight bump in the road, my finger will accidentally touch the Option button. Not a show-stopper, just annoying - that's all. Anyway, you can by a cheaper product, but I'm certain this will last a long time. And Sony's updated Content Transfer app for Mac works a lot better than the original version.

A letdown

I purchased this model last week after my much older model - the NWZ-E354 took a bad fall (one of many over the past ten years) that it didn't wake up from. Much to my dismay this newer model does not meet, let alone exceed any facet of the old one which I think runs counter to the point of making a newer model. The NW-E394 is inferior to the older E354 in not only operation, UI, and of course most importantly the audio quality, but the FM tuner is also seems to be weaker. The cherry on the cake is the surprisingly cheap build of the device body itself. I'm disappointed in Sony. If they were unwillingly to spend money on new affordable mp3 players/FM tuners then why not just continue producing the older, better models with a few tweaks (larger storage, updated inputs)? To be honest I would have rather purchased a used old NWZ E-354, scratches and all.

Nomy favorite

I've had this for several years. The charge only lasts about 6 hours. Sometimes the charge shows total charge but when used it indicates only 1/3 charged.

Not nearly as good as the old model

Bought this about a month ago, and the shuffle doesn’t work. Very disappointing as that is always how I listened with my old model. I would not recommend this unit

Can't transfer playlists

My computer will not allow me to transfer WMP playlists, in part because the wrong driver pops up for the device. I've been trying for days to download the correct one, and it is nowhere to be found on Sony's site that I can find...
