Set up was easy and not too complicated thanks to the app. Funny enough at first I wasn't overly impressed by the speaker but after listening for a few hours I was very pleased with the sound quality. I eventually went through the app and tune the EQ to my preferred listening setting. This speaker BOOMS! EDM, acoustic, it can handle it all.

The Sonos 5 was my first Sonos product that I've bought. I wanted a high quality speaker for the kitchen. It's sounds amazing and was easy to set up. The only thing I'm not sure about how is if I want one rather than two in the kitchen for even better sound. Buying the Sonos 5 was great, but I didn't find the full value of Sonos until I added a second product. More me it was the Arc and Sub. Now that I have multiple products I can fill the entire main level of my house with music from both products playing together. It's awesome!

I love my Sonos 5. It is set up in my loft on the 2nd floor and the sound carries through my whole house. There is more than enough bass with this product I can only imagine the sound of I had a Sonos amp! The audio quality is second to none which is why the is the only brand of speaker that I own and will continue to purchase

I used this Sonos Five product every day for critical listening in the Studio to reference my mixes I like that it plays frequencies down to as low as 40HZ, it's well Balanced across the spectrum..

We use Sonos5 and two sonosplay1 to fill whole house (albeit small house) with sound. Enjoy different volume control in each room and sonos app for endless music choices. Very easy to setup and to move speakers to different rooms when needed.

I had a single Five in my kitchen from when it was first released and the sound was great. However, given the time in the kitchen, I wanted my music to be true stereo with excellent sound. The dual Fives are absolutely awesome: I easily made them a stereo pair, tuned them and the sound is simply incredible. It was a bit of a splurge, but you absolutely get what you pay for here.

Wow! This is in your face sound without any distortion. Zero regrets after powering it up and listening to it. Powerful, loud, sleek looking and goes well with my room. Would love to get another and use it for surround with my playbar, maybe later because it is a little on the pricey side. I have it in my Master bedroom and it fills the entire room easily. It is about 500 Sq. Ft.

Awesome speaker that only drops to 4 stars because of the price. But if you like music, and are spending more time at home, this is an awesome addition to your life.

Used as a rear satellite in addition to a 5.1 Arc setup. Excellent sound and virtually no lag as a paired extra room unit. The only downfall is no bluetooth. This to me would have been a deal breaker had i been buying this as a sole speaker.

I own a lot of SONOS products (two Connects, Connect Amp, Soundbar, Subwoofer, three Play1's and two Moves) and recently purchased the FIVE to replace my Gen1 Play 5. The difference between the Gen1 Play 5 and the FIVE is astounding! The FIVE is leaps and bounds better than the original Play5. Full sound, not too bass heavy and overall a great sounding speaker. If I had the funds available I'd consider replacing two of my Play1's that I'm using for surround sound and make them FIVE's! Setup was easy as usual and I was listening to my favorite streaming service in minutes. No regrets on this purchase!

As a music enthusiast I have very high expectations of the quality of my sound. Sonos delivers all the way, and then some. Listening to music through my Sonos is truly multidimensional, and simply superior to any other sound system that I have ever owned. Sonos is nothing short of brilliant!

In planning to replace my 30+ year old system, I wanted do eschew the traditional stereo components and take a more modern approach. There were a few requirements I set for consideration of my new audio system. -A compact footprint to fit our downsized living space. -A system built around music streaming services. -Ability to play audio from my television, turntable and multiple networked devices. -Keep within a modest budget. -Audiophile sound quality. The Sonos5 met all these requirements in a single box. The speaker yields impressive room-filling stereo sound. The only negative, is the lack of real stereo separation from a single enclosure. (You can add a second Sonos 5 for a full stereo separation effect).

I love this speaker. I've since added two more and a sound bar. The combined music is so good. I was listening to a Kid Rock album and a Bald Eagle actually landed on my porch to listen to the music and drink a Budweiser.

I have had Sonos for 2 years connected to a powerful amp and high end speakers. The sound quality is good. However I just purchased a Sonos 5 And added that so I could have music in other rooms, the quality is very good, I also combined the 5 with my existing equipment and the 5 enhanced the quality tremendously. I will be purchasing another Sonos 5 to pair them ! I highly recommend Sonos. Tim Zdybek

The sound on these speakers is very good. But having to deal with them turning off and on randomly, or not turning on at all is the most frustrating thing ever! We have top of the line wi-fi in our house, and even installed lots of boosters around, and they will work fine for a day, but then the next day they won't work. Having to try to figure out why, only to get them working for a few minutes before they go out again isn't worth it! I really wish I would have gone with another brand that isn't so unreliable!

Don't waste your money. I had a perfectly operational speaker until Sonos bricked it with a software update on Christmas day. Its garbage now.

I have a huge music collection including vinyl and Mp3 files plus Apple Music... most often the system works flawlessly.. yet at times, the software glitches losing speakers and leaving one wondering why

Love the products - one relatively new drawback is a message that now pops up. It indicates that it won't function with wireless signal extenders. (?) These extenders are necessary in my home. The necessity to "hard wire" things defeats the true value of Sonos.

Without bass box, it has a great bass for small areas; clean and clear voices; great connectivity and services options. Bluetooth connectivity could be an asset; ideal for Mac connectivity.

As a long time "high end" audio equipment owner,I was forced to sell my music collection and equipment after the recession of 2008,to fund my small business and make a wedding for my lovely daughter . I had always missed the great music and carefully selected albums and CD's I had gotten over the years, never thinking I could replace them without spending a boat load of cash...I missed my music, sorely! One day(eleven years later) a friend bought a stereo pair of Play 5 Gen 2's.He invited me o...

The best speaker ever...for its price, period.
By Francesco
I have been an audiophile for 25 years and I have owned very expensive audio systems and spent a lot of money (I mean a lot!) for well know speakers, amplifiers and fancy cables, speaker stands, audio carpets and who knows what other stuff I do not even remember. One day I had a gift card of $500 to be spent at West Elm and since I did not need anything for my apartment, I decided to purchase a Sonos Play 5 second generation. Obviously skeptical, I connected the "gadget" and gave it a try. I ...
