Love my Sony PXW Z150. The all in one camera is light, incredible definition at 4K. Sturdy and with easy access to all the functions.

Amazing image quality. Even the onboard mics are decent. Had problems to mount a Sennheiser 416 shotgun mic (the camera's mic mount is NOT standard) had to get a universal shock mount for hotshoe (coldshoe) and take it from there. Build quality is ok, but take care of this camera, it’s delicate.

This camera is crystal clear once you dial in the proper settings for your environment, the only thing I wish this camera had is a fixed f-stop but other than that if you can afford it then I would say it’s worth it!!

Having switched from Canon video cameras to Sony, I am bitterly disappointed in this camera. You might want to take a course in Mandarin as the manual might as well be written in another language. Forget about Sony support, takes weeks if not months to get a response. I suppose if you have used Sony products before, the changes are minimal, but from a cold start, you are basically on your own. Camera is solid, but heavy, I have to really lock down the tripod plate or it will tip it over, never had that issue with any of the Canon's, the menu settings are sometimes incomprehensible and are poorly explained as to what they do. Anyone want a nice barely used Sony PXW-Z150? I'm going back to a different brand so I can be productive and get some work done.

This camera is a workhorse that gives us maximum flexibility! At www.AnotherDamnSportsNetwork.com we can shoot everything from interviews to sports action and it looks as if we have a stable of different types of cameras and lenses. The range of the lense is great for what we do. Shooting on SD cards also makes it very affordable. The native slow motion capability makes for an easier post production session. The weight is nicely balanced and the hot buttons make switching to various settings a breeze.

This is the second time I've purchased an XD Cam for video photography work. It really is a great camera, although -- they have made some changes in the latest version that make it slightly less intuitive to use, which is unfortunate. For instance, they got rid of the nice switch in the back where you could switch the audio channel you are listening to.

We already have one of these cameras in our studio, and it's great. Most of the bundle was useful, like the bag, lens cleaning kit, etc. The light isn't very useful to us, as we're in a studio setting with lights, but perhaps it would be good for on-location to add some extra light. The light is dimmable and comes with a sizeable battery. The rechargeable battery set looks interesting, we'll have to see how well it works charge after charge. The battery level indicator readout on the screen is useful. I would definitely recommend this kit.

This camera represents a true breakthrough in picture quality and control at an entry price for professional cameras. It's very well constructed physically, and advanced electronically and optically. I replaced an older HDR-V1U 3 Cmos sensor camera which is also a great performer, especially with the addition of an external solid state recorder. It will continue to be used for "B" roll and other needs. This camera produces phenomenal pictures in just about any shooting environment I have encountered. Low light, low noise images are easier to capture. The camera is relatively light and easy to hand carry. When you're ready to upgrade, consider this camera. For me there were no compromises.

Love it! I understand those individuals who are frustrated about the whole menu buttons situation but the buttom line is the "Picture quality" is amazing, mainly in low light and that's what I care the most. The camera is low weight and easy to handle, no complaints, just a few annoyances that I will get over by getting used to it.

This is the best camcorder I have used in 40+ years as a videographer. The automatic focus is the fastest and the best I have ever seen... Much better than my Sony NEX-FS100UK camcorder with 18-200mm lens. Recorded a 55 min Forum with the PXW-Z150 at church and edited it as usual using Vegas Pro 13. Was pleased to note that the Z150 camcorder (in Hi-Def) produced one 8.3 GB .m2t file (instead of 20+ 2.75GB files ... that in the past caused audio discontinuities) Recommend downloading Sony's (Free) Catalyst Browse app and using it to manage the files produced in your Sony SDXC UHS-I memory cards. (I purchased a 64GB and a 128GB memory card and simultaneously record to both memory cards.) I recorded a 51 minute Forum using XAVC 2160/24p recording at 50mbps which produced a 9.0 and a 13.0GB .mxf files. Used Catalyst Browse to view (full screen) the extraordinary image; copied the files in (11 minutes) to an external 8TB GRaid Studio hard disk. Edited the video using Vegas Pro. Took 2 hours to render the video to a 3.1GB .MP4 file which I uploaded to my Vimeo website. The image and audio using the PXW-Z150 were the best I have ever made to date. Note: I use a Sony LPM-770BP 7" monitor which connects via HDMI cable to the Z150. When I videotaped Hi-Def, the monitor stayed on in Standby and Recording modes. When I set up to recording XAVC 2160/24p, the monitor showed the image during Standby. When I pressed Record, the monitor went blank ... and I used the LCD screen to pan my recording. A subsequent review of the User Manual shows that videographers have to use the menu to select where you want an image sent during recording: either to the LCD screen or External .... to the HDMI port to be connected to a monitor or external recorder. A very good camera for the run and gun filmmaker. The picture is very clean for a built-in lens and Sony earns the Mystery Science award for turning a 12x optical lens into 18x that works beautifully. I was worried about the f2.8 to 4 max. aperture, but the pix is clear, remarkable in that 9db (and higher) generates a good image and does not pixilate. Lots of nice options, too many to mention. Minor complaint: must access the menu to adjust sound for headphone!

I was lucky to get this camera from Adorama since it seems at the moment to be on backorder everywhere. I have used it for a few gigs already and the ease of use and amazing footage are second to none. I have not used the 4K as yet, but I know that will not disappoint.

Great investment if you're a pro or semi-pro, not as big as other professional cameras yet it packs a punch, there's a lot to like about this camera a little big for consumers though, not something you can take to your son's soccer game! :)

Ready for any shooting scenario, Sony's PXW-Z150 handy professional camcorder delivers stunning 4K image quality, 120fps HFR Full-HD slow-motion and built-in advanced networking for live streaming and wireless workflow.
Breakthrough imaging performance
The PXW-Z150 is the world's first professional camcorder to feature a 1.0-inch type stacked CMOS image sensor. This breakthrough in sensor integration delivers a 2x increase in read-out speed compared to a conventional 1.0 sensor for stunning 120fps slow motion in Full HD and spectacular 4K recording. Full pixel read-out helps realize the full potential of the big 1.0-inch type sensor - there's no need for pixel binning or line skipping which can result in moir effects. The large 1.0-inch type sensor is also brighter, has higher resolution and offers more bokeh with a shallow depth of field, allowing you to create beautiful, cinematic images that will inspire you and delight your clients.
Stunning 4K image capture
The PXW-Z150 offers a change in image capture in its class with 4K QFHD (3840x2160) using the advanced XAVC Long GOP 100Mbps codec for truly broadcast quality 4K performance.
To maximize the quality of your images, the PXW-Z150 has a stunning optical 12x zoom lens that offers high resolution and contrast across the entirety of the image. Sony's advanced Clear Image Zoom feature doubles magnification to 18x when shooting in 4K QFHD and 24x in HD, to fully exploit the imaging capabilities of the PXW-Z150's large 1.0-inch type stacked sensor.
Transforming expectations in functionality
The PXW-Z150 transforms expectations of what's possible with a handy camcorder so you can be confident using it for almost any application. This includes up to 120 frames per second (fps) High Frame Rate continuous recording in Full HD quality, delivering beautiful 5x slow motion. Stunning 4K picture performance is supported with 4K XAVC Long GOP at 100Mbps, while integration with established broadcast workflows is simplified with Full HD recording in XAVC Long GOP (4:2:2/10bit 50Mbps) and MPEG-2 HD (50Mbps/35Mbps). You can even use AVCHD to further expand workflow flexibility. However you want to shoot, the PXW-Z150 delivers.
The perfect handy camcorder
The PXW-Z150 isn't simply a compact, lightweight design - it also integrates advanced features to reduce the need for bulky accessories that slow you down. A built-in four position ND filter means no need to carry a box of filters, MI Shoe eliminates cabling when fitting a microphone or even light. Advanced networking capabilities include built-in Wi-Fi for live streaming and FTP wireless connection, greatly increasing your mobility, while the camcorder can also be easily controlled by a smartphone or tablet using Wi-Fi remote. Every last detail has been thought of - including power efficiency to deliver a remarkable 400 minutes continuous recording time.
Revolutionary imaging performance with Exmor RS sensor
To deliver imaging performance previously impossible for a compact camcorder, Sony has developed the world's first 1.0-inch type stacked CMOS image sensor for professional video applications. A 2x increase in read-out speed, compared to a conventional 1.0-inch type sensor, enables beautiful 5x slow motion image capture up to 120fps in Full HD and high resolution 4K recording with full pixel readout without binning.
The PXW-Z150s single 20 megapixel 1.0-inch type large size sensor helps to provide low noise and less blur because more light reaches the sensor, offering clear and steady pictures even in a dark scene with minimum illumination 1.7 lux. The large sensor size also enables beautiful background defocusing (bokeh) to enable you to focus on what you want to show and defocus the rest of the image.
Flexible 4K and Full HD recordings
The PXW-Z150 is designed to provide true broadcast quality performance for both 4K and Full HD productions, recording with the advanced XAVC Long GOP 100Mbps codec for brilliant 4K QFHD imagery and flexible workflows. XAVC Long's higher bit rate produces outstanding images with more details and less noise to create the number one 4K picture quality in its class. For even more flexibility in workflows, the PXW-Z150 is switchable between NTSC and PAL operation.
120fps continuous slow motion
High Frame Rate shots can turn everyday actions into slow motion ballet and the PXW-Z150 delivers up to 120 frames per second (fps) in Full HD, giving you a maximum of 5 times slow motion expression. There's no sacrifice in bit depth and no "windowing" of the sensor. So there's virtually no crop factor or loss in angle of view.
Sony's "G" lens with maximum 24x zoom
A high quality 29-348mm wide-angle lens with 12x optical zoom makes it easy to capture even the most expansive landscape scenes while also offering superb clarity and sharpness - maximizing the performance of the PXW-Z150's large 1.0-inch type sensor and providing high resolution and contrast from the center to the edge of your image.
Getting close into even the most distant scenes is further enhanced by Sony's advanced Clear Image Zoom feature. Once you've zoomed in at maximum 12x optical magnification, By Pixel Super Resolution Technology can enlarge the image to 18x in 4K QFHD or 24x in HD, while still preserving image.
Networked for high mobility
With advanced networking capabilities, the PXW-Z150 gives you more mobility in your work - FTP files directly from the camcorder or live stream from any event using built-in Wi-Fi features with no accessories required. Sony's unique QoS technology dramatically improves the clarity that is possible on a wireless connection, giving you better pictures even with the limitations of today's real-world networks. You can also remotely control the PXW-Z150 with a smartphone or tablet, including the ability to adjust settings such as focus, zoom, iris, white balance, REC START/STOP and more using Sony's Content Browser Mobile software.
High resolution monitoring
Precise monitoring and low latency, however you choose to shoot, is possible with the PXW-Z150's advanced, wide viewing-angle and high contrast 0.39 type 1440K dots OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF) with large eye-cap and an easily adjustable, flip-out 3.5 inch 1550K dots LCD panel.
Compact and lightweight body
This camcorder is ergonomically designed to provide a lightweight and easy-to-use shooting experience. Three manual, independent lens rings enable smooth, natural adjustment of focusing, zooming and iris control. The camcorder can also be used in full-auto mode or completely manual for maximum creative control.
Dual media slots for recording flexibility
To extend recording times and workflow flexibility, the PXW-Z150 is equipped with two memory card slots and is compatible with SDXC and SDHC cards. "RELAY" mode automatically switches recording from the first to the second memory card when the first is full, while "SIMUL" mode permits simultaneous recording to two memory cards (for example to create an immediate back-up version).
Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe
The PXW-Z150 takes advantage of Sony's flexible Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe, which provides power, signal connections and coordinated on/off switching to compatible Sony accessories. For example, you can connect and control Sony wireless microphone systems such as the UWP-D11 or UWP-D12 or attach the HVL-LBPC light.
Wide choice of connections including 3G-SDI
There's no need to worry about adapters as the PXW-Z150 provides a wide variety of built-in connectivity options including 3G-SDI, HDMI, Multi/Micro USB, professional audio XLR terminals, REMOTE and Composite (RCA). A supplied cold shoe adaptor kit from Sony, provides you with more flexibility for mounting accessories.
