If you have a Sony camera or camcorder with the smart hot shoe and are using the UWP-D series wireless mic system this is a very handy accessory. It will power the receiver with the camera so you don't need any batteries in the receiver, a nice weight savings. And the audio shows up as a selectable shoe input in the camera menu. Works on the Sony A7/A9 as well as the Sony FS7/FS5 and many others.

Bought this for my new Sony PXW-Z190 for professional interview scenarios and it has definitely delivered. It is capable of dual audio channels so you can use the Sony URXP03D 2-Channel Portable Receiver, located here: https://www.adorama.com/sourxp03d14.html There are two versions of the MI Shoe Adapter, this is the dual-channel SMAD-P3D. They also make a single channel version called the SMAD-P3, which will only give you the ability to use one microphone at a time. With the camera MI Shoe Adapter, you can choose to run the Sony URXP03D 2-Channel Portable Receiver unit off of your camcorder's battery or you also have the option to use AA alkaline, lithium, or rechargeable NiMH batteries which can be recharged with the unit's bulld in USB adapter. This works as advertised and adds the ability to capture another two channels of audio in your recordings. Highly recommended!

Perfect on the new Sony X150, which allows unit to send audio to one channel via the MI shoe and frees up second channel for xor input or front mic. Amazing for solo event coverage and interviews. Also great on FS7 for discreet audio to Channel 3 & 4.
