Sony SPK-AS2 Waterproof Case for Action Cam

Tried to use this case underwater once and it leaked though to the camera. Luckily I noticed and dried off my camera before it destroyed it!

Like the SPK-AS1 before it, this underwater housing does not allow the camera to focus under water. The different index of refraction of light in water on one side of a curved surface with air on the other creates a lens effect that causes the focus to change, making every video fuzzy. The AS1 would go down to 160 feet, but the AS2 only is rated for 16 feet. It is advised by Sony not to put this under running water, so no cleaning off the salt water until you pull the camera out. Not too confidence inspiring in its water resistant capability. What makes this case more vulnerable to water pressure are the extra seals around the side buttons and the mike ports. The AS1 didn't have these. The mike ports of the AS2 allow better sound with the case on the camera, and the side buttons are accessible to change camera settings with the case on. This makes this case more suited as a beach camera or a foul weather camera, because above water, the focus works fine. But as an under water case, this still isn't usable.
