Over all, I would recommend this system. If you are a gamer looking for bass response that is going to shake your chair and induce loss of bodily function, this isn't it. If you are simply looking for a system to give great audio playback for run-of-the-mill media (video clips, dvd's, music), this is a great choice. The sound is clear, bass response is generally acceptable (but can be relatively easily overdriven with 'club' type of music). I was skeptical when I read the wattage specs on the side of the box: 20 watts for the entire system, and no frequency response charts in specs. However, Sony has figured out how to get the most out of what they put into it. The only thing I will say is that the main speakers could possibly benefit from the use of a graphic equalizer, if you have one on your sound card. To my ears, the upper mid-frequencies are a micro-shade too present, but not uncomfortably so. Personal taste, I guess; I like realtively 'flat' frequency response when I listen to things. That being said, these are very audible at low levels, so you don't have to crank 'em to get good sound. Good job, Sony!

I purchased the first set from best Buy when they didn't have any to demos on display to listen to. (No they won't open the box there.) I was so impressed with them when I got' em home, I bought a second set to be drop-shipped directly from Sony, CHEAPER than Best Buy, to my daughter who has just got into internet radio. (I couldn't beieve she was listening with those little lap-top speakers.) I see that the Apple Store doesn't even sell them. It's obvious that both Apple and Best Buy don't promote such a great product because it's price point is too low for them. They would rather sell items two to three times as expensive in order to make MORE profit. I will be shopping directly with Sony more in the future. The kicker is the POWERFUL sub-woofer is perfectly balanced with the stero speakers.

I was looking at a replacement 2.1 set-up for my PC, as my cheap-oh's from BB took a dump. I looked at some more expensive ones - but figured I didn't need to spend over $100 for my small apartment. I looked at some Altec Lansings, but was not able to listen to them. I stopped on the way out of Fry's, and saw a Sony endcap. They had several hooked up, including these. I was able to listen to them, and was pleasantly surprised. When I got home, I hooked them up - took 5 minutes to get everything situated correctly. I turned on my music, and was blown away. Very crisp, clean, clear sounds coming from the satellites, and a nice rumble coming from under the desk. Impressive, especially for the fact that they cost $10 less than the Altecs, which I had no idea how good/bad they sounded. I would definitely recommend these.

If u r looking for a quality sound, forget this. It work well at low volume, but if u increase to an average volume it become horrible, there is no crisp. It is a waste of money.. I had replaced for my altec lansing 2.1 speaker which was a great mistake. I had gone for a brand name and had suffered for it.

The performance of these speakers are fantastic. They deliver a powerful sound with no fuzzyness. One downside is that the speakers and sub. are a little bulky, although the design is quite attractive. Overall, a wonderful product that is a must buy if your looking for speakers.
