I bought these to pair up with an old Sony STR-V45 transceiver and was suprised at the low end bass and how much power they can take. Also using a Realistic (old school) 10 band EQ. They rock.

These speakers were just what we needed to finish our entertainment unit. We needed a smaller speaker set to attach to the receiver/turntable unit both of which are Sony. They have a classy look and an excellent sound!

Using these speakers as rear surround in a 7.1 setup with a Sony STR-DH740 (A/V receiver). I love how these speakers are capable of reproducing both high and low frequency sounds. Powerful explosions and attention-grabbing bullet fire. Whatever sounds need to be reproduced just sound great to me. I have these paired with the SS-B3000's, the CN-5000, and the SS-F6000's.

This is absolutely the worst pair of speakers I have ever heard in my life! If your company cant do any better than powered subwoofers (yours do work pretty well) you should not even offer these.Hire somebody from Polk,Infinity,or even (I shudder) JBL.Sounds like Soundesign trash to me.

I think these speakers are the best bookshelf speakers, on the market and there at an amazing price. These speakers take and put out plenty of power,I have the sony sscn4000 sony's and there also great,And I have a pair of John Blue custom tower speakers and the ones I'm most pleased with are the sony ss-b 1000"s just a really good speaker sony could have asked much more for these.but there priced at a great price.

I've had 3 pair of these in their various cosmetic iterations for about 6 years. They are hands down my faves in the world of affordable bookshelves. I have a pair in my gameroom and with an old Sony receiver, they will indeed rock the house with good detail. Front firing port gives these things plenty of low-end. Tweeters in one pair are dead- a bit disappointing but again they have been pushed hard. I replaced the tweets with silk-domes, and they sound every bit as good as my far more expensive Energy bookshelves.

I am using the SS-B1000 for my Left and Right Channels for my PlayStation. And let me tell these speakers are worth every dollar, I replaced some Bose speakers with these and could hear the difference right away. The high and low frequencies are good (very close to great) and I would recommend these speakers to anybody!

Bought these speakers to use with Sony receiver DH-520 7.1, using as front left and right channel, cranked it up yesterday on 2 channel stereo setting, the sound of these speakers just blew me away, i even had my sub-woofer turned off, don't need that with these speakers. These are some powerful little things. Buy them, you can't go wrong with them. Great work Sony.

What a huge appointment...especially after a price increase of twenty dollars. Just got them, installed them and now I'm repackaging them for a return and refund. What a waste of time. This why I hate ordering on line vs testing on a store floor model.

Got these speakers for my wife on Mother's day. We had an old stereo system who's speakers had gone bad and were too large for their new location. Knew the basics of impedance and power input needed, looked in stores then found these on-line. Sony was a great help. The speakers arrived in 5 days, no shipping charge, and were easy to set up. They even had wires included in the great price, in most stores there were lesser products, wires extra and even then not in stock.

These speakers play some serious music! When I first got these speakers I connected them to the front output on my Sony 5.1 receiver...they can really fill the room. I am currently using them as the rears in combination with the SS-F5000s. I have the crossover set to 100Hz, and these speakers have been great - haven't been disappointed yet.

I am using these speakers as the surround left and right components to a 5.1 system complemented by the SS-7000 towers and SS-5000 center channel. These speakers perform well for this function: surround effects are distinct and dramatic. When listening to Rush's R30 concert on blue-ray, the ambient effects produced by these little speakers offers a breathtaking experience. Better speakers for less money do not exist. Pure and simple, the entire sony SS-#000 series offers the best value in Hi-Fi speakers. As a replacement to any pair of HTIB speakers, these are a fantastic improvement that anyone from the tech-ignorant to the audiophile-on-a-budget can appreciate. The only fault I can find in these speakers is that they do not produce an earth-rattling bass, but this is to be expected with a 5 1/4" cone handling a broad range of frequencies. If you plan on using these as your main stereo speakers, you might find the performance a bit underwhelming especially without a subwoofer. Theyre good, but they wont produce the same sound as the towers in this line (SS-F5000, 6000, and 7000) Also the 20 to 22 gague cable that comes with it is fairly wimpy and at approximately 6 feet doesnt quite reach far enough for typical surround applications. I threw this out and ran 16 gague wire to fix the problem.

These compliment my Sony SS F6000s. Small and capable of producing sound. The speaker has options compared to the smaller surround speakers. I use these as my rear surround speakers in my soon to be be complet 5.1 set up.

have had these speakers for a monthand I am overall pleased with them, they provide quality sound from a compact speaker that is very crisp and enjoyed fully. I use them as my primary speakers for my TV and my husband just loves them! He wanted stero sound, as the speakers on our TV just didn't get it the way he wanted. They sure make movies sound awesome! Great speakers!

For the money you can not find a better speaker. Really your hard pressed to find one as good for 2 to 5 x the money.. With that said at lower volumes the sound lacks . They can handle a little power , turn them up.. Poor on mids , bass could be deeper ,fuller.. But the sound is good. A great speaker for small spaces lower watt recievers. Or if your piecing a system together on a budget..They make great surround channel speakers..Dont forget they cost 50 bucks for a PAIR... THEY ARE SOLID QUALITY,AND PERFORM VERY WELL..SAFE SMART BUY.....You will be happy....

These speakers are a wonderful value, and produce the greatest CLARITY that I've ever experienced anyway with a pair of speakers in this price range. I purchased them for use with Sony's SS-CN5000 center speaker and another identical pair of SS-B1000's with my new Sony STR-DH510 a/v reciever, and am very pleased and happy with my purchases. As I've said in another review I love the complete system better than my father's Bose sytem.

These SONY's are the rear speakers of my surround sound (a condo), with a SONY center channel and true professional studio monitors for the front. It is a great set-up for condos/townhouses, where you have to respectfully keep the sound to decent levels. Really excellent bookshelf speakers for the price - I do not know of any other company with the same size & sound. Similar ones will cost $80-$120. You can't go wrong with this SONY bookshelf model, if they filled my needs I'm sure they'll work excellent for yours as well.

Very good sound quality. I was impressed on how much sound is produced by such small speakers. I own a CMT-BX20i and i have replaced the speakers given to you, by the SS-B100, and i'm very impressed by the price and quality.

I bought 2 sets of these, one for my center channel, the other for my surround backs. After setting the crossover on the receiver so the subwoofer would handle the low bass, I realized I could have saved some money by using them for all channels. They sound great.

Yes, you can buy a better speaker, but you will not be able to find a better speaker for the price. I use them in my bedroom for the stereo and computer sound. I listen to jazz, instrumental rock, prog rock, and smooth jazz on these speakers, and I can hear all of the instruments and vocals very clearly. No, they do not have ultimate bass, but neither does anything else this size or this price. I enjoy listening to them very much, and I am rather picky about sound. Thanks Sony.

I bought a pair of SS-B1000s to cross-link in parallel with another pair of Sony Speakers (not sure about the model-belonged to a mini Hi-Fi 3-way system) on a 1979 NEC A730E 350W@8? integrated amplifier. They work great so far, whereas they fail in low-really low- frequencies, producing an almost inaudible hiss, which however is annoying in end-scale volume. Very good value though!

I just received the speakers and can't believe the sound. I am so anxious to replace my large floor speakers with this set. They definitely have a great sound and compact in size, but the size does not take away from the clear great sound. I will definitely recommend this web site to my friends.

Great looks and great sound from a compact design. Much richer sound than you get from the small speakers furnished with most home theater systems. Best of all, the rich sound comes without the bulk or pricetag of big floor models. The size and weight offers versitility in mounting (I used decorative shelf brackets to wall mount mine).

I bought this bookshelf speakers to replace an old pair of Sony floor stand speakers, and the first thing that got me it was the sound I couldn't believe that kind of high quality sound was being delivered out of that pair of "small" speakers, their performance is outstanding...I use them with an old amp and a 12" subwoofer, clear and crisp sound even at high volumes.
