Questions & Answers

Shopper : How tall is the speaker How tall is the speaker?JONATHON D : The center speaker is about 4 inches tall and the surround speakers are 8 inches ... John DeLaneyMARIO C : H l, hope this helps. midrange is17" long x 3.2 high 4" deep side speakers are7 " high,x4" deep x4.2 wide These speakers are great sound and great replacement, for Dolby pro logic or surround sound. good value I highly recommend them. Mario CTOMMY S : The center speaker is about 3 1/2 inches tall, And the 2 side speakers are about 7 inches tall. I hope this information helps, and answers your question. Thanks.
bill w : what type of connection is used for the TV? ie. red and white audio in and out?TOMMY S : The answer to the question is "Yes" red and white audio in and out. TomcatMARIO C : I use these speakers to replace my old ones. I have a Yamaha receiver and connected each speaker to the terminals in the back of same. As they are audio and no video always red and white. Don't know what kind of TV you have so can't comment. Best way is to connect to a receiver Forget to say that my receiver is a 5.1 surround. These three speakers in the old days would be called pro logic for the front only. Hope this helps , MarioKENNETH B : The wires are bare with no plugs but the speakers need to be hooked up to an audio receiver or amplifier. They won't work by plugging them directly into the TV.TOMMY S : The answer to the question is "Yes" red and white audio in and out.PUNIT O : Actually I connect these speakers to an Audio Video Receiver. Then AV Receiver gets connected to the TV via HDMI cable or Audio Video Cable (in my case HDMI cable). So the thing is that these speakers have wires that get fit into AV receivers. These wires' ends do not come with a pin to connect to tv and that is the way it is meant to be. When you setup a custom home theatre (i.e. buying speakers individually rather than buying a complete home theatre set) you have to buy an AV receiver which sits in the center of your system. It connects to your TV, speakers, PS3 or dvd player and other systems. Then through this AV receiver you control your home theatre. Hope this helps to you.
JIM D : I bought these speakers thinking it was a "SYSTEM" that would connect to my TV. It now appears that they are ONLY speakers and I need something else. What do I need?MARIO C : I wanted thes speakers to Complament my 5.1 surround system. I already had the rear speakers and sub bass. the Sony speakers are for the front right, center and front left. Most TV'S alone won;t handle this set up. I( don't klnow if you have an audio receiver but thats what you need for this. TYHe 3 front speakers were used for the old Dolby Pro Logic. I would suggest you upgrade to a surround 5.1 in a box and you can connect your tv, they all have some HDMI connections and are pretty reasonable in price and the sound is fantastic. Hope this helps and best to you. Mario C.PUNIT O : These speakers have to be attached to an amplifier also known as audio video receiver. If you are going to buy more speakers in future then you can invest in a good a/v reciever - good brands are denon/pioneer/sony/etc... But if you are going to use only these speakers then you can go for a smaller av receiver which is cheap around 100 bucks. Having said this, if you are *not* going to get more speakers to make a complete 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system, then these speakers are not a suitable fit for you. You can go for a ready made speaker system which can directly attach to your PC or TV.ERIC S : You will need a receiver to connect these speakers (as well as any additional speakers) to your TV. The receiver is like the "brains" of a surround sound system. It takes the audio signal from the TV and separates it out to the speakers. Without a receiver, your speakers are paper weights. Adorama sells a wide variety of receivers, so you will need to narrow it down to your specific needs.

Center and surrounds

Unfortunately, the accurate specs are in the box which is consistent with the last review. The target is the HT crowd who will find these adequate. Their strengths are the highs which is consistent with their all around 2 3/8ths speakers. Audio enthusiast will notice the pronounced highs but shortness in midrange. Rcmd for HT addition but audio enthusiast would be better off paying a little more elsewhere.

Not as advertised

very limited on space for a center channel, had boston acoustics center that sounded great but was ugly (horizon series.) Ordered these and was dissapointed at first by the inability to remove the grilles (what are they hiding?) I took a flashlight and shined through the grille and saw what I wasn't expecting from sony (false advertising) there is no tweeter in the center channel- just two paper cone woofers and a bass port. the surrounds are the same with just one woofer each, but that is what was advertised. they all sound like cheap speakers in cereal boxes. I'm using them because they are small but definately not impressed. I would expect these speakers in an off-brand htib, not as a component from sony.

SS-CR3000 - Impressed

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about these. The good customer reviews thru out the web and the price convinced me to bite on them. I am not disappointed. These impressed me very much. They deliver crisp clear sound and they can handle the wattage very well.(I have put them to the test) I matched them up with a pair of F5000s and an old STR-DG910 and old WM40 sub. WOW! it's great. Better than the Infinity group I had before.

Great Speakers

Great Speakers. I don't think I have heard a speaker set sound this good at this price range. I had originally purchased the cn-5000, but found it to be too large for my taste. With this set we got a much smaller center, that as far as my wife and I can tell, has equal sound. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for big sound in a small package.
