Questions & Answers

YANGE Z : does it come with serial number? can I use the serial number to upgrade later?DANIEL H : Yes. Yes.JERRY P : My Sony Vegas Pro software I purchased from Adorama did come with a serial number. As far as the serial number I received with my purchase I have registered it with Sony and It says I can upgrade to newer version.WOLFGANG K : Yes, when I bought it from Adorama last year (slip sleeve), it came with a serial number. I registered my product, and shortly after I bought this, Sony offered the upgrade to Vegas Pro 10 at reduced price, and I successfully upgraded just like the box version. Keep in mind that the slip sleeve does NOT come with DVD Architect, but when you upgrade, it's all there. This is hands-down the best editing solution I've ever used, and I feel very confident that the slip sleeve version was money very well spent. You get a top-of-the-line editor priced in the same bracket as the scaled-down "elements"-class products, but unlike those cheap, bug-laden versions, this one is almost flawless, well-supported, with regular service-pack upgrades.LUCIA L : yes it does come with a serial number and an optional authentication code number. You can use the optional code but it will ask you after 30 days for the serial number otherwise it won't work. After you use the serial number it will open another window that it will ask you to register online otherwise it won't open the program. You can also install it on more than one computer, just enter the same info you register with on your first computer. Their customer support is only for registered users and they have forums also in case you have other questions. Note: the same cd comes with dvd architect also but without the serial # and is only a trial version.

Vegas Pro 9 a little finicky!

I use this program to produce a Bible Knowledge show from my house. I use green screen (chroma key)masks, virtual backgrounds, text, sound effects, etc. I am an audio engineer with a background in recording and performance. The program is a little finicky but once you get past the rendering quirks and settings, it works great.

Basic stuff with lots of features avail

I'm using this edit HMC-150 footage after being converted through Cineform. The software runs well, few glitches on a X64 Windows 7 i7 machine. Renders beautiful standard DVD, much sharper than commercial releases, when projected (at least in my case). Biggest drawback is the lack of support by card and external I/O and acceleration device manufacturers. It's as if none of them have heard of Vegas. This is frustrating as you can't upgrade your system unless you buy CS5 or another supported software package. If I were into all HD production, I would not recommend Vegas for this reason. HD really slows down the render time and there's no way to preview the footage on an HD monitor (that I can find) using third party cards with Vegas. Unfortunate, because the software is a pleasure to use (for the most part).
