They were great while they worked, except for call quality, which was terrible. People concerned that calls were muffled and bitty. After a couple of years one earbud lost charge and eventual failed to connect. Very disappointed with Sony.

Given as a gift for Christmas 2022. Three years later, completely useless. Batteries won't hold a charge for more than 15 minutes. Apparently a known fault, but out of warranty

Dropped one earbud on to a soft surface and it permanently muffled the sound on it, essentially making the buds useless. Absolutely unacceptable for the price point. Followed the instructions to "fix" the issue multiple times to no avail. Do not buy this product unless you enjoy flushing money down the toilet.

I'm extremely pleased with my recently purchased headphones. They've got good noise cancellation features, a comfortable fit and great sound quality for the price. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

I purchased the Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds about a year ago, and I am already experiencing severe battery degradation. Specifically, the left earbud drains rapidly, even with active noise canceling (ANC) and sound enhancements disabled, battery last for less than 40 min from full charge. It is disappointing because the audio quality is excellent, but the device is becoming unusable. To make matters worse, the warranty support has been completely unresponsive.

Noise cancelling, no matter what setting I try, is a nightmare. Multi point doesn't seem to want to play ball. Apart from that these are brilliant but I would recommend to anyone. Had sony products all my life from my first Walkman in the 80s to vaio laptops, psps, speakers you name it.

The headphones are very good but unfortunately the charging stopped working properly a couple of years after purchasing them. One of the in-ear phones stopped charging as much as the other. Now after a full charge they don't get near a 100% charge and only last for an hour or so before needing to be charged again. I don't now if this is an issue with all of this model of headphones.

Sound quality is great, fit is great, battery is trash. I don't use these that often (every 1-3 months) but the last time I did the battery on the right earphone went from 35% to 0% in about 5 seconds. After repeated charging the right earphone is essentially unusable. Since Sony doesn't seem to have any way to contact them (other than via phone?), I'm leaving this review as per their request.

Among the best sounding headphones I have owned but, run-time of only 40 minutes is quite an investment. Had hoped to use these for road trips and hikes but, battery simply doesn't allow. Sending back and looking for another option with better run-time.

After an update, the charged left battery dies in about 10 minutes. The left and right battery don't charge to 100% anymore but stop charging at around 60, and the module/charger only charges to about 75% and then stops charging.

After fully charging, the left ear bud lasts about 5 minutes, then dies. The right ear bud won't charge fully, and dies after about 20 minutes. I've tried repeatedly to reach Sony's customer service by phone, or text support with no luck of resolution. I will certainly be buying a new pair, but not from Sony.

Worked fine for awhile... Then boom. Right plug died in 6 minutes after showing 100%. Never changed. $300 down the drain. Not cool. Known issue with update. Over it.

I really wanted to love these because of the Sony reputation for sound quality, but they just fall out of my ears. I even bought and tried different earbud tips. Very disappointed because I chose these for my 15 year anniversary gift at my company.

Great sound. However, purchased in 2022, lasted less than 1 year before I needed to replace them under warranty due to battery issues. Horrendous warranty experience over months. Eventually got a new replacement pair. This lasted about 1 year before it took developed battery issues. Does not hold charge in left earbud. For such an expensive product very very disappointing it only lasts 1 year. Awful experience with Sony customer service. Would not recommend Sony products, look elsewhere.

I received these as a gift a couple of years ago and they were great. Now I can't go more than a minute and the left ear bud says the battery is drained...which it's not...and it disconnects. Super disappointing as I know these aren't cheap (well cost wise anyway). I wouldn't recommend. I can't use them anymore. This isn't just my problem..I see many people have this issue. Sony should replace them.

The earbuds claim to be fully charged but now only last 15-20 minutes. Bluetooth connectivity is average and does tend to disconnect often. The app is horrible to use. However, the audio quality is good.

These worked well but did not have the promised best sound. After not using them for some time for fear they would be lost as they never fit properly, even with the earpads provided, I decided to give them another try. After fully charging them with the provided cords the, the left ear dropped the charge within minutes (100% to 0% in under 5minutes). Went online and read that it might be a firmware issue. Tried updating to the latest but was unable to do it in one try because of the draining battery. When I was able to finish the update, the battery went from 60% left and 75% right to 0% both. Even after resetting the battery now drains not in 5 minutes but on the left, almost immediately, on the right I may get 10 minutes out of it. Very saddened by this as they are expensive and seem to work poorly, much more so than the cheaper Monsters I wound up buying to replace these.

I originally purchased these earbuds January of 2023. They were excellent and lasted very long even with prolonged use. But that changes when a firmware update rolled out and caused damage to the battery life of the earbuds. Now when fully charged they barely last an hour and the drain is unequal for each earbud. Since this happened after my warranty period there's nothing I can do. It's a shame because they were a quality pair of earbuds.

I'm not going to rehash everything that has been written online about these earbuds. Suffice to say, a firmware update by Sony has all but rendered these earbuds useless. Battery in the case and right earbud deplete fully in about 2 1/2 hours. Battery level in the left earbud still has plenty of power. Sony may have got their wish to ensure users buy a replacement. I will - but they will definitely NOT be made by Sony.

I purchased these earbuds about a year ago. They sound great and fit nicely in my ear. The look of them is classy. There is an app you download to pair the earbuds to your phone. The downside is that if you are unable to access that app via internet or wifi you may not be able to connect them to a new device. They dont have a pairing button on the case so the app is a must. I took a flight and was unable to connect them to another device because they were not previously paired, rendering them useless. Im also already having major issues with them holding a charge, one earbud draining as much as 80% within 30 minutes. Im performing another software update which will take about 30 minutes to complete so we will see if that fixes the problem!

This product cost 180£ and in less than 2 yrs the batteries are kaput . Sony should have at least offered a trade in against new ones as they knew there was an issue with these expensive headphones

Had to send both pairs I bought back in October of 2024 cause of a charging issue. BOTH my husbands and my case and headphones were getting hot during charging. They gave us both a new pair, after 4 months the left earbud started making a wind noise when it was on noise canceling or ambient sound. Didn't make it when those were turned off. I take great care of them, they have not been dropped or beat up in anyway. Honestly makes the earbuds worthless since I can only wear one now. The whooshing noise in the left ear bud is enough to drive you crazy. These earbuds have been way more trouble than they were worth. It sucks that they only have a one year warranty because my husbands, mine and others I know that have this model, they started having issues shortly after the year. It's almost like they degrade in quality after some updates, so that you have to buy new ones.

Sound quality is subjectable to the listener's needs and biased importance in music structure. For me, the Sonys are very powerful and as long as you have the right seal you should enjoy the sound greatly, as long as you don't just use the default settings as your settings for sound. These earphones are best used with EQ adjustments and the proper settings on your phone...an android phone..not an iPhone. Can you use an iPhone..yes but you will not get the LDAC codec which is clearly superior.
