I actually bought this tv in 2017 (installed in February). Outside of the known "blooming" issue, it was an outstanding picture until the beginning of 2019. I started to get what looked like a dirty screen, vertical lines just left of center screen. It is most notable on gray or flesh tones. After an update, in 2019 (I believe), the issue was only slightly better. I tried everything on my end to no avail (including hard reset). Obviously, my disappointment was the fact it barely lasted 2 years without this problem. This should not happen with a tv costing nearly $4,000 in 2017 ! I have included a picture I took with my Iphone, it shows a blue screen but that is an Iphone camera issue I guess. The screen was a gray tone when I took the pic. I have called tv repair (recommended by Sony website) and they both basically told me it would be best just to buy a new tv due to the repair costs of this issue. Has the Sony brand deteriorated that much ? I've always tried to stick with your brand but I'm pretty sure this is the last "straw". That is disappointing in itself. I have described this issue on your website in years past, but never got a response from Sony. Now it also has other issues with not communicating with the other connected devices (all Sony except for the DirecTv 4K box). I can deal with those, but the screen issue is what will stop me from purchasing another Sony brand TV. If I get no response from anyone at Sony, that would say all I need to know about the direction of this electronic giant. Sad.

Have always loved Sony, especially XBR's I've had before, but for $4k, this should last longer than a few years. Bought in Dec 2016 and the screen lines and burn just keep getting worse. Add to that the dead pixel area in the middle of the screen and it's just getting to be too visible on everything we watch.

Although the television is very eye appealing, we have had continuous issues with the Android connectivity or, lack of! After many attempts to get the issue resolved through your support staff the problems continue; especially with the Netflix App. I am tired of having to unplug the television, rebooting the entire system, and having to reinstall all of our passwords for all of the App's that we have on the system. Every time that we attempt to open the Netflix App, it begins with a white blank screen,and then appears the black background with the full "NETFLIX", and then it goes down to a "N" with the red circle spinning & spinning below without connecting. Even though the television is out of warranty now, I feel that Sony should be more proactive about providing the support that should go with your company. We own three of your newer televisions, and this XBR 75X940D, Serial # 5009561. Case # 04380186, has been a constant disappointment. The lack of support, the lack of providing us with a solution to the problem, and not providing us with someone who might be able to provide a fix has been very frustrating. Because of this, we will definitely consider other brands before we purchase another Sony television.

I’ve had this tv a little over a year and I love it almost as much as the wonderful person who bought it for me! The picture is great, awesome features and unbeknownst at the time of purchase, it’s 3D! add surround or a decent sound bar and it’s absolutely perfect. The only downside was for the first few months, it kept logging me out resulting in a movie being purchased on a different email account so make sure if that happens you use the same account every time.

Saw this in a box store when it was new in early 2016, was floored at the time but way out of my league price wise. I've watched it since then, not looking at new since my young son loves 3D and it's no longer available. Finally found this as a refurb and picked it up. I am in awe!! Both 3D and 4K are superb, 4K HDR looks 3D even when it isn't! I know OLED is the rave and sure side by side one might tell the difference, but I cannot imagine a better picture!! Functions beautifully and fast. Internal functions such as streaming work great but I use external devices, just bought a Sony 4K blue ray that also supports 3D and now Vudu streams 3D (through the blue ray, through Roku and direct to TV both said was not compatible)! Use a home theater with Atmos so don't use the internal speakers, but a few times have switched to it and it's got great sound for a TV. Mounted to wall, thin and edge is so small it disappears, similar to my old projector screen... Seriously great set!!! THANKS SONY!!!

Beautiful panel marred by horrible software. Plug in Apple TV, HDR is automatically enabled. Plug in SONY PS4 and it reports that "your TV does not support HDR". These types of issues along with the fact that it reboots itself randomly a dozen or more times a day and random processes crash and lock it up so that I have to power cycle it to get it to work means I feel like I didn't get my money's worth.

I love the product but I am a bit frustrated due to not receiving a Dolby Vision Firmware Update. I spend a lot when purchasing Sony products due to their high quality. They have always done me right and I expect no less this time.

I was going back and forth between this model and an LG OLED. I went with the Sony because of the great reviews regarding the 4k upscaling, the black levels being competitve with the OLED, and this model was 75" compared to the 65" OLED. I made the right choice. The picture is amazing and I havent even played any native 4k content on it yet. The upscaling is that good. My only gripes so far are blooming issues in scenes with shadows (hardly a deal breaker) and glitchy Android TV. The apps will randomly stop working and I've had to restart the TV to fix. But doing so requires me to setup the TV from scratch again. Very irritating, hopefully its just a software issue in Android and not the TV itself.

We really loved our TV until this week. The picture quality, especially 3D feature has been outstanding. Fifteen months after purchase we're seeing a vertical green line from the top of the screen to the bottom. After owning and being extremely loyal to all Sony products, this is the very first time in 30 years that we've seen any defect in their electronics. Too bad, since this is the most expensive purchase we've ever made.

I bought this tv because it had 3-D ability. This feature work great for me. I am not to happly that some of the things that are signed into stop working without knowing how to restart the features that has stopped or an indication that they have automatically restarted. The picture quality is excellent.

I bought this model after going thru a couple 850D's on Amazon with dead pixels. At the time this model was newer and only a few hundred dollars more. However I knew the price was gonna drop on the 850 soon. But after a couple tvs with dead pixels I went with the 940. So with that said I absolutely love the 940D! The picture quality is amazing. Of course coming from an older 7-8 year old sony model it better look better. I was very happy with the size too. Weight wise it was lighter than the 850D. The features are pretty good however there is no picture in picture. Upon research it seems like that is a feature that has long since been left behind. Thou with future Android updates to Nougat I believe there will be some form of picture in picture feature. I do wish I could remove some of the stock apps that come preloaded. Like DirectTV app and sony music, picture and video apps. I have no need for them and I can't remove them from the apps list. The 4K is amazing. YouTube 4K is simply outstanding.

Unfortunately, I just had my tv installed by the professionals at Magnolia Home Theater and my 75" 4K HDR TV already has screen issues. There are clear issues with the black in several spots around the TV.

Everything started a long time ago with my parents. I am talking about Sony TV as a part of our family.That brand name was very important part of my youth. Now, I am 59 years old and Sony is still part of my life. This particular model ( X940D 4K HDR) made me so exited during process of buying that I felt illusion about my much younger days and those unforgettable moments when first Sony TV came to our house. "Sony" knows what is good for guys like me. And, I am not only one who knows to respect that.

Had been waiting for the 940d for about a year and then the Z9 came out. The budget just couldn't quite swing the extra dollars. As I was trying to make my decision the reviews started coming in for the new "E" series. Discovered those will not have 3d capabilities so I quickly grabbed one of the last 75" 940d's. Everything is sharper and brighter, your eyes are constantly being given an overload of clarity and brightness. Find it difficult to watch the 1080p set in the bedroom anymore, my eyes think there is some thing wrong with the picture. Worth every penny.

I have always owned Samsung TV's in the past. I wanted to try a 4k tv that was not edge lit and also affordable. I believe it was the best bang for the buck for high end 4k and HDR. I would recommend this tv and the Sony slim mount!

This is thee best smart tv on the market in my opinion. The picture is superb and the software is user friendly. My only gripe is you need a sound bar. The sound is not very good without one. This is my third Sony tv. My first one I had for 16 years and my second for 10 years. So the quality is excellent.

I purchased the television as part of a remodel of living room. Plan was to mount a TV above the gas fireplace, (following all safety parameters for temperature etc,). We wanted to mount the television using a multi-directional mount so the television could be flush with the cultured stone above the mantel. The TV would need to be tilted slightly for optimum viewing, due to the height above the floor.The mount would also allow it to be pulled away from the wall to access all connections. Halfway into the project with framing completed we find out that you have to hang the TV like picture and with only one mount, Sold by Sony, the SU-WL810. (which is sold separately). The picture of the television is great. The functions are great. Bottom line: If there is only 1 wall mount that can be used for a specific TV, the product should come with that mount not be extra, and to display on the product that all other mounts will not work.

Can't be more satisfied with the purchase of X940D. Waited 4 months for the price to get down and finally got this fantastic set. I compared Z9D and X940D side by side, Z9D is better TV, but not $3000 better, so it was an easy choice for me. Picture out of the box is magnificent. Setup was quick and easy, I was able to watch Netflix 4K in less than 20 min. Sound quality is the only complain I had about this TV but after I paired it with Sony STR-D1070 receiver the problem was solved. Both units work beautifully together connected With Audio Return HDMI cable.
