i had this unit for about a year & it sounds great when it works. but all of a sudden, the radio part just stopped working. it just flashes "WAIT" whether it is AM or FM or HD signal it is looking for. but unfortunately, it does not find any signal. do not waste your money on this bad model clock/radio. even though the ipod dock still works with my 4th generation nano, but does not charge. alarm still works on chirping sound only. wasted my money on this, so i write this review, that way you don't. there are no fixes documented out there.

This radio does work with the iPhone 4. I doesn't work with the supplied adapters for previous gen dock adapters. You might as well not use an adapter and order the correct adapter from the Apple store for $10. You need to get the #20 dock adapter from Apple to get it to fit properly. Tagging songs are easy for those stations that provide artist, album, and title. This can vary from station to station or even from show to show.

It worked great, sounded awesome for the price and then began to randomly shut itself off, both with the radio and the ipod. Was super bummed when I bought an iphone and the dock does not work for the iPhone 4. Tried to take it back to Best Buy but no dice. I don't know if I just have a defect device or if this thing just kind of sucks. I have read some other reviews of the random shut off thing but was related to the volume being too high or the product over heating. This is not the case with mine. It's getting ready to go live in a landfill......Buyer beware

Why does Sony refuse to put any type of power backup in for their radios? I would love to use this as my bedroom clock radio, but its worthless without any backup for settings when it loses power for more than 30 seconds. You lose all radio presets, time and alarm settings. And WHY is the power brick so big?? On the plus side it has great sound and reception in its HD radio. But I am not sure if I have the patience to keep doing the presets. I bought this on sale as a reconditioned item. If I had paid full price it would have been returned. I'll probably end up using as a good sound system for my iPod and put tape over the clock.

I purchased the system because I wanted a high quality HD radio. The sound from this is outstanding for its size. I could care less that iphones or ipods connect to it and will never use that function. FM and AM connectivity and reception is excellent 30 miles from the transmitter. No problems with HD connectivity, like on cheaper brands. The system also has RDS which works great.

Seems like a reasonable value for the dollar when I purchased however the biggest drawback is the lack of compatibility with the most recent IOS 4 software update. Returned to store at that point.

Great sounding radio but cannot detect iPhone 4

It's ok, nothing amazing. The sound is what you would expect from this type of device & from sony (Good, but it won't replace your home stereo...) The other reviewer is absolutely right - No Battery Backup?? Ridiculous. No Snooze??? Why NOT?? How was that left out? Error "Cannot Detect" ipod - It seems kind of obvious, but I had to update my iPod Classic with the latest software to get it to work. Sony support could not solve the problem (Thank you GOOGLE & 1 reviewer on another website who mentioned this exact issue) 90 Day Warranty?? Between the ill-trained tech support & the 90 day warranty - it's not confidence inspiring. I used Sony points, I would not recommend paying cash for this item. (Note - I happily own a Sony Flat Screen TV & 2 Sony Laptops, but don't feel the same about this product)

Unlike most people I wanted this product to use in an office setting. I used to have just a standard radio and my iPod. However after several years you get tired of the same songs on the radio and the iPod. My company blocks any on-line music that is out there to listen to via the internet. Therefore this is a great addition without the monthly cost of Satelite radio. I bought this with the purpose of being able to listen to WGAR 99.5-2 which is classic country music as well as several other available stations. My office is located very close to the radio station itself, but after reading reviews i was concerned about being able to get reception within the concrete building. I set this up and after a little time spent adjusting the antennas to get the best signal i have found that this item works great without any issues of reception. It picks up all the stations that i was hoping with perfect reception in HD. I do not use this as an alarm clock or anything of that nature therefore i have no complaints about the alarm or the lighting features for the screen. I also have no issues with there being no time displayed when the unit is on. I am sitting at a computer so i have easy access to the time. This is a great product and i would definitely recommend this product to anyone that looking into HD radio.

In this day and age, having a digital radio without a little bit of nonvolatile memory, to store user programmed data, is simply inexcusable. A battery-backedup clock would be asking too-much of Sony engineers.

Great product, clear sound, crisp design, works well with the iphone. One of the best design features in my opinion is that you can have your iphone hooked up without having to remove the protective case. (I have the incase slider case.) It also charges the iphone, which is another great feature. The HD radio is sweet, the sound quality is better than standard radio and the song information is visible for many stations in my area. All of the clock features are visible and easy to use. Which to me is important because I have this product in my bedroom. The only downside it is a little on the expensive side, but it's still worth every penny.

I am really impressed with hd radio which does suprise me. I got this mainly because it is ipod touch compatible. The one real negative is that it has no battery backup and looses all the stored stations in memory and even the time with just a blip type power outage-what a dissappointment in an otherwise stellar product. I can not believe the engineers overlooked this in the design.

One of the better Sony purchases I've made. This radio fulfills two of my greatest needs: 1. Beautiful clear radio sound in my dental operatory to sooth my patients 2. The ability to choose my Ipod sound to suit the mood of my patients. I think I've already sold a couple more of these to people in the office who have heard it! My only complaint is it could use more watts to keep the distortion down. Overall, I really like it.
