Avoid this case
I have had this case since December when I got my new Pixel 2. I loved it at first, but in February after only having the case for a few months I noticed the side of the case peeling away. The back of the case is certainly not "scratch resistant". This case is poorly made for the price I purchased it for. I am very disappointed and will probably go back to using Otterbox cases.

Good product
Overall I love Speck products. They put out a quality item. I give this case 4 stars because when I took it to Thailand the soft rubber/plastic that goes around the screen of the phone blistered and peeled away. Thailand was hot, but not THAT hot for this to melt. I live in TX, so if it can't stand up to the heat I experienced in Thailand, it won't be able to stand up to a comprable heat in TX.
I am still giving it 4 stars though because I think for the average user it will be fine. I had my phone out with me all the time in Thailand & I don't think I'd have it out as much in the sun in TX.

Surface too slippery and rubber peeling off after 5 months
Somewhat disappointing on 2 major counts:
1. Upon installation, it quickly became apparent that the slick, smooth plastic surface of the back and sides - combined with the fact that a phone this size can be hard to securely hold in just 1 hand - meant that the case was easy to slip out of your hand. I would have very much preferred a rougher / textured / grippy back surface - or even at the very least all along the sides - that would have helped my hand hold on to the case, not make it fall out. I have lost count of how many times my phone fell out of my hand because of the slick surface of the case. There is a bit of rubber used on the sides, it is nowhere near enough to help prevent the phone from slipping. On the other hand, though, the case was protective as claimed. Despite falling onto the floor MANY times, my phone has survived without any damage, so I guess there's that.
2. Disappointingly, however, barely over 5 months part of the rubber sides have started to "peel". There is a thin rubber strip that is stuck on top of the plastic case (the same side as the screen). For some reason, parts of this have started to peel off in 2 places on my case. I did not use my phone in any unusual manner, though it is often in my front pants pocket or out. Still, such normal use shouldn't have worn out the rubber to the point of peeling this early in.

I won't buy more cases with clear, plastic backs.
I just felt the button coverings were really stiff and it was hard to push the volume buttons. I wanted the clear back on the case to see the back of my phone, but I don't like seeing easily accumulated scuff marks on the clear back.

Sandly disappointed
I'm actually extremely unsatisfied. I filed a complaint and I am still waiting to hear back for over 3 weeks. I'm hoping it will be at minimum replaced but unfortunately even if it is replaced I really do not think it will help and I will have the same issue. The sides framing the phone are tearing away and I've owed the product for 4 months. The products by speck I've used in the past were much better.

I would buy it again
This case is very nice. It is a tight fit and looks very nice! Offers great protection for my Pixel 2.

Fine, won't buy again
Hard plastic holds up well, but the rubbery layer between the outer shell and the phone started coming apart after one month. A few more months in and it's really deteriorating.
