I bought two of these. I bought two, so one would be a backup of the other one. They both started switching on and off for no reason and failed. Obviously since they BOTH failed, I lost all my data. I'm sticking with Seagate from now on.

The 'Black' series is supposed to be high performance, what happened?! There is terrible performance, and then there are these. The performance is well beyond terrible, it so bad it makes me question reality! I bought 9 of the 5TB version of this drive, and so far 2 of them are so incredibly, unbelievably slow that they are completely useless, they can't even save a word doc. It takes several MINUTES to mount once connected, if they mount at all! Right now as I write this, I am using DD under Linux to copy a 480GB partition to one of the ones that still marginally works, as in it mounts in under a minute. It is 400GB into the copy (after a few days!), although the transfer rate started out at 300+ MB/s as the buffer filled up over USB 3.0... but now. You may question reality too as the transfer speed is in the single digits, a stunningly bad 3.1 (three point one) MB/s. There is simply no excuse for this. DD writes the sectors/tracks sequentially, its not updating the filesystem and going back and writing files... this is the ultimate sequential write. Whoever engineered this junk needs to be publicly reprimanded and barred from engineering anywhere for anything. I've been buying WD for decades and currently own dozens of 8TB+ drives, but I won't be buying WD after this though! The competing brand's products are looking pretty good right now. WD has lost me, especially with the low quality the last year or so.

Just got it, just did a back up... took a long time compared to my 8 year old G DRIVE... Four times longer than my old drive. Cute and small, good price.... we'll see how long it lasts.

I own two of these P10 drives, 5 TB capacity, purchased 2 years ago and 3 years ago respectively. They were purchased as a place to temporarily move large amounts of media for active editing projects, a backup drive. They seemed to work well for this function but *both* have gotten extremely slow over time -- to the point where they're impractical to use. At best, I get 45MB/sec write speeds -- but during copies it drops to 10 MB/s.. 2 MB/s.. down to 0 then pops back up.. fluctuates a lot.. and then sometimes is even disconnecting mid-copy and re-connecting! They are both formatted exFAT. I'm attempting to defrag one and it's going VERY slowly -- hopefully this might help. But overall I'm very disappointed that both drives are so incredibly slow and becoming unusable.

Purchased a 4TB drive from Best Buy sometime around 2020 and downloaded a multitude of games as well as their mods and just as many movies. Took it with me on a deployment to Iraq, surviving a couple explosions, drops, and rough packing on my part. It's surprisingly durable, though I've had some issues with it connecting and registering now after 3 years.

I cannot access this drive on any of my computers. I have tried a different cable. My work was saved on the drive, and it appears will now lose everything on it.

Have had the 4 tb version hooked up to my Xbox series x with no issuse for a year now. All of a sudden tonight it disconnects and reconnects ever minute or so. I loved it up until this point. Hiw am I supposed to use a drive that just doesn't seem to want to stay cinnected?

These "black" drives supposedly have great performance, don't believe it. I own 9 of these that I got for various backups and moving lots of files around, the 5TB capacity. They have been used on several different computers, all of which can easily push 200MB/S over USB 3.0 using other drives. I have never had to deal with such a SLOW USB 3.0 drive EVER. In fact, these things can't even max out USB 2.0 speeds, its beyond pitiful.

I've had this drive for less than a year but I used it regularly. When in use it lags immensely to the point where I would get dropped from games at least once a week. Recently it fell from the couch (2.5 feet?) onto a rug on a carpet (all the padding) and now it is unrecognizable to the PC. I was already frustrated, but now I'm disappointed as well. I won't be replacing it with another WD; I'll be looking for a drive with a much faster RW speed and more reliable performance.

Have no frame of reference for what a good hard drive is, but definitely not disappointed. It has been big enough to hold the 7-10 PS4 I go back and forth from with no issue and room for about another 10? Im using it on my PS5, and the games downloaded onto the drive seem to run better then the ones downloaded on my PS5 directly, at least that's how it feels to me. And it honestly looks nice perched on top of my PS5, feels and looks like a product worth its weight in gold!

Loading times are slow, but if you can tolerate that it's a great drive for all gaming purposes. As another person said, though, it is too easy to knock the usb out of a usb socket. Great value overall.

Works as expected got this one as my first one was running low and I needed to reformat it to NTFS. Speeds are what's promised and I haven't had any issues with this is the one I bought a year or two back.

every literal 5 secs it has to go through a repair and even then you are not guaranteed to be able to play your game even after literal 6 "repairs" this crap still doesn't work kicks you out of games you are in the middle of to "repair" this is the first and last product I will be buying from this brand it has been nothing but crap issue after another do not buy it is a scam and a rip off
