I got this for my otter box phone case. I found I had to really work to find the connection with other PD magnetic mounts I wanted to attach to. Because it is recess, it doesn't click into place as easily as the one that comes on the PD phone case. I had to switch to this because my phone would not charge on the PD car mount with the universal adapter.

Not as adaptable

Outstanding quality. I use it on my bike, boat and car.

I love PD products. I use it for my motorcycle. They don't have a case for my phone so I use this universal adapter. It's great But... I am tired of having to buy one every time I replace my phone case. Wish PD had this with a strong magnet instead of the adhesive. To shell out $30 every time I switch phone cases isn't cool at all. Just because of this I am dumping PD products and replacing my PD motorcycle mount.

Done with Peak Design products

While this is secure, my iPhone 16 Pro Max cannot charge wirelessly with this adapter. It blocks the RF charging.

No wireless charging

I bought 1 in June 2024.  About 2 months later the adhesive failed.  Luckily it was on my car mount and my phone fell on the floor.  I could not find the adapter in my car to show Peak Design for warranty claim.  I ordered a 2nd universal adapter around July 29 and put it on the back of my iPhone.   I later found universal adapter 1 which had fallen into a white plastic bag I keep on my gear selector for trash.  I had a lot of trouble separating it from the plastic bag and it got mangled and the magnets between layers were lost-in my car.  It shows in the photos.  Yesterday 9/22/2024 I was riding my motorcycle with my phone and universal adapter 2 on the handlebar using another Peak Design mount for motorcycles.  Just like many of the videos on the Peak Design Facebook and website.  

The universal adapter stayed locked onto the handlebars, but the adhesive failed and my phone went flying down the road and is now unrecognizable.  The adhesive side of universal adapter 2 seems perfect with black adhesive that has little stickiness.  I thought the 1st universal adapter issue was a fluke.  But 2 failing in approximately 2 months each tells me and a reasonably prudent person that there is a problem.  I sent an email to Peak Design but they have not responded.  Apparently the claims of quality products and great customer service are not true.  The 2 mounts and 2 universal adapters were not cheap at $270 total.  This does not include the price of my iPhone..  If I could give it Zero Stars as part of my review - I would.  I have photos of the 2 failed universal adapters and remnants of my iPhone but the attachment mechanism of this review is not working.  VERY DISAPPOINTED ...!!! Maybe this true story review will get a response??? Having trouble uploading photos which are equal to 1000 words each...

Universal Adapter Adhesive Failure After 2 Months

My wife needs a more protective case than the Peak Design provides but I wanted to move to  PD vent-mount phone holder. By carefully cutting a matching hole in the back of the rubber outer case I was able to attach the "universal" phone mount to a compatible surface. Note: you keep using that word (universal). I do not think it means what you think it means. This retrofit works great and almost looks like it was designed this way!

Not as strong as the Mobile case, but still secure enough for normal regular usage.

Nice adapter

The magnet is very strong and secure! However, the adhesive (that sticks the adapter to the wall/surface) has come off the surface a few times.

Strong magnet but weak adhesive

I bought this because nobody makes a mount case yet for the Pixel 8A (and nobody seems to have a plan to). 

I was worried it wouldn't stick well, or that it would be hard to apply without it being crooked. 

However I was wrong. Instructions were solid, the guide ensured it was straight. And finally, i can practically lift my bike with it.

Wasn't Sure It Would Be Good

I purchased this to use with my Peak Design Evotech Fuel Tank mount with an S20 with Tech21 cover. I was hesitant to use it on the Tech21 cover as it is semi flexible. After mounting to the cover, waiting 48hours (instructions are 24hrs), and going on a few short trips it has held up. Now, I have logged over 2k miles with this attached to my cover on the motorcycle and it is holding strong. I am quite surprised at the 3M tape holding as I have had issues with this tape holding inside vehicles and not exposed like on a motorcycle. No problems to report. I am happy with this mount and will purchase other mounts when I change phones.

Works on a Motorcycle

Easy install on my Moto 5G case. Stays in place with no vibration just like my iPhone 12.

Works Great!

I use it for the motorcycle mount and it works good. To be honest I'm scared in case it detaches from the case, but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

Really discreet

Works really well, looks nice and so far has been pretty durable. If I had any comments it would be that I would have liked some colors/finish options. I have a white phone, would have liked a white finish so it didn't stand out as much.

Works Well

I love the way the universal adapter has performed so far! It is attached to my Pixel 6a TPU slim case. There was not a case available for this phone. I followed the directions for attaching the adapter to the case and the results are bombproof! I attach it to the universal bar mount so I can switch out bikes easily. I use it on my all road bike on gravel and chipseal roads and on gravel and multi-use trails on our tandem.. It is secure and has proven to be bombproof on bigger bumps/potholes. The glue used is very strong and secure. Great product and great value!

Exceeds expectations!

I am using the peak mounting system in conjunction with Spartan mounts to mount Boss Flex speakers on various bikes. I modified the spartan mounts to accommodate the adapters and it works great. i now have quick release bluetooth speaker.

work great

I bought this to stick on a cheap android phone I bought to serve as a GPS navigation screen on my motorcycle for a trip out west. I was seriously impressed that the adhesive stood up to some seriously high temps, a lot of bumpy roads, and around 1600 miles of riding over 9 days. I can't speak for its longevity after that amount of abuse but it served me very well.

Impressed

I recently purchased this to use on the stem of my mountain bike.  The adhesion is strong and have not had any issues with the adapter disconnecting nor falling off.  There are magnets in the adapter that are needed to secure the phone,  Be aware that you will not be able to use your phone's compass unless you remove the adapter and case from your phone.

Universal Adapter for phone case

I have a S21 Ultra and held off on this purchase for a while. One, I already had a magnet (for magnetic car mounts) attached to the back of my phone case; two, I truly enjoy my current phone case (Poetic brand); three, my car has Android Auto and so I don't really need my phone to be visible while driving. That said, I've been interested in Peak's mobile accessories for a while (primarily the tripod) and so finally decided to bite the bullet (a week after the holiday prices, sadly). Along with the case adapter, I purchased the mobile tripod, non charging car mount, and the universal bar mount (to be used on car steering wheels so I have my phone nearby when not in my own car). Suffice to say, once I pried my old magnet off and attached this adapter, my life felt like it changed. One, my charger stays in place when my driving (courtesy of the phone being held securely in place and not sitting in a seat); two, mobile tripod (duh); three, I can drive my parents' cars and not lose my phone (bar adapter); and four, this adapter is as secure as can freaking be (while also still being able to use my favorite phone case). Suffice to say, I've been recommending this adapter (and system) to any of my friends who are willing to listen.

Wish I bought sooner!

While I really wanted a case mount, this is adequate for my needs.

Simple solution that works

Bought this for my husband who has been wanting to use my mobile mounts throughout the house and car but has a specific phone case brand he prefers. The adapter matches well, doesn?t take up too much space, and is turning him into a huge peak design fan.

Perfect solution

4 Major issues:
1. Not reusable and its very expensive to buy them again if you are changing your case or your phone.
2. They call it universal but its not really universal. Very large in size that in some newer phones like Samsung Fold 4 it can't be attached to the back if you have Samsung S Pen holder case.
3. You get stuck in a loop if you order other products from this mobile family. 
4. On Samsung phones that has s pen it makes the use of the pen very unstable and you are not able to draw or write anything on the phone because of the adapter.

This universal adapter is good for when you have a phone that the case can support it. Now I upgraded to Samsung Z Fold 4 and in order for me to have a case with S Pen holder then there is no place for this large universal adapter to attach to the cover. The biggest issue is that I bought a lot of attachments in this family from Peak Design when they had it on Kickstarter and now I either have to return my new Samsung Fold 4 phone and stick to my old Note 20 Ultra phone, or through out all the attachment and not buy again from Peak Design unless they have a proper adapter.

Being a professional camera user and loyal customer of Peak Design that has over 15 products of peak design this is really unfortunate.
At least they could come up with cases that their universal adapter doesn't support.

Very large, One time use Very expensive to replace

Works well if the phone or case has a flat back so the adhesive can attach securely. Once attached for more than 24 hours, it is permanent. Downside: there is no way to reuse it if you have a new phone or case. That's a $30 landfill (not recyclable in most cities). That seems counter to PD's environmental initiatives.

Works well, not environmental friendly

the worst item in the Mobile line. I've had 6 of these come loose and phones fall off, the glue pad just let's loose, I almost lost 2 phones it seems to last about 1 month. one let loose when I pulled it off the Peak wireless charger the others were attached to the out front bicycle mount on a ride when they lt loose

Universal Adapter

Attaches firmly to my phone case, excellent connection to all PD adapters I've tried. Highly recommended for phones without a cousin case.

Really strong mount

The universal adapter is great for turning any case into a magnetic/magsafe case. Makes it really easy to wireless charge if you have a magnetic qi battery pack or holding the wallet. 
The quality of the magnet is excellent and really strong.

i love the functionality of this adapter but i wish it was reusable. i placed it on a case as i waited for my pixel case to arrive, but now that its here and i want to use it on my tablet, i realized that i cant reuse it and im a little bummed. but it def does the job and if you dont plan on reusing it, its worth the compatibility with other accessories
