Simple and Mostly Effective

The sun shade really helps. Even with the brightness of the screen there are times when depending on the angle, the sun or a light source will cause glares and the sunshade takes care of a lot of those situations. The cage itself is great quality and it’s easy to install. However, if its one job is to protect the monitor, they could’ve covered it a bit better. A lot of the plastic of the monitor itself is still exposed. Though, your monitor will still be much safer with the cage than without it.

SmallRig 5" Monitor Cage Accessory Kit for Blackmagic Video Assist 1981 is a 5" monitor cage with sunhood. This is a great way to protect your Blackmagic Video Assist monitor. Made of CNC machined aluminum, the cage is quite lightweight and solid, and you will still have access to all the features of the monitor.

It includes numerous 1/4"-20 & 3/8"-16 threaded holes for many attachment options. An integrated and anti-twisted NATO rail on top for attaching NATO standard accessories directly.

The included HDMI clamp for protecting your camera HDMI port. Besides, adding a sunhood is perfect to prevent direct sunlight for a good visibility of the screen's image. Additionally, we considerately offer a SmallRig monitor support ball head 1875 for easy mounting.
