Shopper : How do I get the square part to separate from the circle? They're flush together right now and I'm having trouble figuring out how to use it.Steve H : If you point the base towards you turn the wheel clockwise. You might have to turn the whole threaded mount counterclockwise to get enough thread exposed to turn the wheel. Once you get it spinning smoothly, finger tightening and loosening works. But the first time you might need to use a channel lock to get it to spin for you. Again, make sure there is some thread exposed in the stem of the square part before spinning the wheel.

Solid little metal shoe mounts. Precisely what I needed for mounting an audio recorder atop my FX Nikon rig. The price would have been good for one, much less two. Stays tight and has a pretty good range of movement on the ball mount, considering how small it is. Recommended, and they would work for many cold mount accessories.... mics, monitors, recorders, lights, etc.
