It’s a Hollywood Blackmagic filter not much to say besides that I use it all the time and I love it. I bought this one so I could have it in my own kit and so I would save money because for years I have been renting them. GET THIS FILTER! It should be in everyone’s kit.

Great looking filter that slightly halos light sources and offers subtle smoothing and subtle lifting of lowlights and nice rolloff of highlights. I used the 1/8 on some of my shots on a recent series, but the 1/4 actually got the majority of the action on an Angenieux 30-90.

It is with great precision that the 6.6x6.6" Hollywood Black Magic 1/8 Filter has been crafted to enhance your cinematography and photography endeavors. This professional-grade filter is designed to seamlessly reduce the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles, providing a flattering effect on subjects by softening fine lines and imperfections. Its unique ability to gently soften bright highlights aids in controlling exposure, ensuring that your images maintain a balanced and dynamic range.
The Hollywood Black Magic 1/8 Filter is the result of a harmonious blend between the renowned HD Classic Soft and Black Frost filters. This fusion creates a consistent, smooth transition in the highlights, preserving the natural beauty of the scene even when utilizing higher diffusion strengths. The filter's design is particularly beneficial for smoothing the harsh edges that can be prevalent in high-resolution images, such as those captured in 4K or 8K. This makes it an indispensable tool for filmmakers and photographers aiming to achieve a filmic, organic quality in their digital content.
With a subtle grade of 1/8, this filter offers a constant smooth halation in the highlights across all diffusion levels, a unique selling point that sets it apart from other filters in its category. Its application is versatile, softening details and creating a subtle glow that adds depth and character to the highlights. This effect is ideal for reducing the overly sharp, digital look that can be associated with 4K or 8K cameras, instead imparting a more cinematic and textured appearance.
Moreover, the Hollywood Black Magic 1/8 Filter ensures that while it provides an airbrushed texture to the image, it does not compromise the integrity of rich blacks and vibrant colors. The result is a balanced image that exudes a professional, aesthetically pleasing quality. Whether you're shooting a feature film, a commercial, or a portrait session, this filter is an essential tool for achieving a polished and refined visual output.
