have had issues connecting via hdmi from the start. been through the reset process, etc. currently soundbar will not connect to samsung mu9500 tv.

i cannot believe that samsung would question the purchase of their products when you have nothing but samsung products in your home that are registered. this hwk850 sound bar sounds great if and when it wants to connect to the soundbar. this is a serious problem with samsung electronics they are too expensive and do not hold up for the price. i've sent my subwoofer back 4 times and still no luck.

i have a hw-k850 soundbar and a q7 tv. my set top box and apple tv are plugged into my q7 tv and the hw-k850 soundbar is attached to the q7 tv through hdmi arc. i have all new hdmi 2.1 cables. i have tried everything and i have yet to have the little blue light go on the soundbar. no atmos. what should i do. calls to support are useless. they know less than i do!

Have had this Soundbar for over a year. Was very happy but now that the warranty is out the surround sound keeps turning itself off in the middle of movies. Also even though I turned off auto shutdown mode the bar shuts off if I pause any tv or movie for 3 minutes. Paid way too much for such poor quality. If you are looking for a Samsung bar I suggest you purchase a better model

Have been fighting this product for about 18 months - constant issues connect to Samsung TV via HDMI ARC, volume control issues via integrated Samsung control, slow response etc. Sound simply does not compete with high end competition (sonos, etc). I own 4 Samsung Tv’s and 2 sound bars - but save your money if you are looking for a high end soundbar, this product does not measure up.

I'm a Broadcast and sound engineer. I have published many articles in related national magazines. I have an 11 channel home theater with about 3500 watts of power. However I needed a small system for my living room that was compact. I know that there are many great sound bars made today. I did not spend hours studying specs of all the high quality sound bars. The truth... I just happened to find a great deal on this sound bar. I was not expecting superb quality. I set it up...and I was amazed at the results. The 850 was much more than I expected. The sound was incredible for the money I spent.. I have discovered some what of a secret to the production ability of this sound bar....by accident. You must have enough input level to achieve the punch of the 350 watts. If not the sound bar like any audio device feeding a low level then increasing the volume on the sound bar will be thin and might distort...even clip. Some TV,s might not have enough level to achieve this. However my TV does. When I switch to music on Tunein I shake the house at 40% level. Broadcast TV is another story. Most TV stations transmit square waves and the programming sound is terrible. I am satisfied with this product and have not had any anomalies that some have experienced.

The Soundbar stopped working after 1 year. The Soundbar stopped pairing with the woofer. I had to pay $150 to get it working again. It is defective.

I bought a display model from best buy and after a few adjustments, I have everything working well. My tv is an older Led model and after learning about the difference between ARC and eArc I figured I'd better connect through the sounbar instead of my TV. I connected my Fire Cube and my PS4 thru the sounbar and I get incredible Dolby Atmos through everything I watch. I stream only, got rid of cable years ago. I feel like I'm at the movies! Fantastic soundbar!!!

Soundbar sounds great when it works. Shuts off frequently when pausing watching; ie pause Netflix to just go to bathroom and when I come back, have to turn soundbar back on. Now, the soundbar will just completely disconnect while actively watching. Will have to shut evrything down to get it to reconnect.

Bought this product jan 2018. first 4-6 months worked great, sounded great. after that was glitchy and ultimately the sub died jan 2019. So far every samsung product i have bought died within a year. Does anyone else feel like the subwoofer is just a little too much when the atmos kicks in? Most of the time all I hear is the subwoofer more than the rest of the audio..is there a way to fix this? This unit has great sound quality but if streaming or watching tv and you need to do something and push pause it turns off after a short time. Also at times will not connect to my Samsung tv. Have to turn off and turn back on. And even at times have to completely unplug everything to get it to work together. Watching football with surround on you can’t hear the refs. Yes you can turn off surround and hear them but who wants a surround sound bar you have to turn off to hear everything. Commercial on network tv only play background music. Can barely hear the voices. When it works correctly it sounds great. But it takes so much work to get it to work correctly. The entire reason I bought this is because I love Samsung tv’s. Wanted to match so they would work well together to bad they don’t. This may be what takes me away from them totally. Most of my appliances in my house are Samsung

I really love this system! Unfortunately, you can’t take advantage of Atmos unless you hook an external disc player up to one of the HDMI ports on the unit. Most people who stream Hulu or Netflix will be in for a surprise when they find out that their TV will simply not offer the Atmos option. The most annoying part is that it does not even work with Samsung’s own QLED range - I own a 2018 Q7F and it won’t send an Atmos signal to the bar over ARC like it should. Of course they don’t tell you that until you find out the hard way once everything is set up at home. So yes, it’s a great soundbar but don’t expect to experience Atmos unless you factor in an external player - which seems very redundant and awkward if you ask me!

The Samsung Expert at Best Buy said all speakers would play with music, they don't. The upfiring atmos speakers only play in the HMDI mode. He also said I could connect rear speakers, you can't. I expected expert advise from the Samsung "expert" and didn't receive it. I should have returned it, dissapointed I didn't. I purchased this speaker system and while it works well I wanted to add a rear set of speakers to it because I'm getting a little hard of hearing and wanted a set of speakers closer to me. If I had purchased the HW-N850/ZA, mine is the HW-K850/ZA, I could have added rear speakers to them. Both of these speakers sell for $999.99 and in my opinion should be able to have rear speakers added to them. Otherwise the K850/ZA should sell for fall less and it should be clearly stated the "NO REAR SPEAKERS CAN BE ADDED". Actually the cheaper Samsung sound bars will accept rear speaker add on like the SWA-9000S. So save your money and purchase the cheaper sound bar. I have had this system for a year now and didn't need to add rear speakers until now. I do remember the salesman saying I could add rear speakers, but guess what......

Sounds ok, biggest issue is it can't do Atmos or surround through arc.You need another direct source input to the soundbar. They have fixed this on the N950 and N850 after promising to do a software / firmwareupgrade on this into that never came. Save your money they are way overcharging for this faix atmos bar

I have always been the guy that goes overboard when it comes to audio systems. Lots of speakers and big power. But a recent downsizing had me looking for a means to meet my expectations with little compromise. I bought this bar as a non-current demo model. Got a good price and brought it home hoping I had made the right choice. It fit perfectly with my 65" TV and it's certainly well built. I 1st connected it via optical cable from the TV. But soon realized it wasn't all that good. I connected it through the Xbox One via HDMI and it came alive! Optical doesn't support Dolby Atmos.

I bought this sound bar 1 month ago. I followed all the instructionals on how to set it up correctly. Firstly the sound it produces is below expectations. The I have yet to get dolby Atmos to work and after connecting to Bluetooth for the first time and switching it back to TV arc the sound just drops out for no reason watching Netflix or TV. I have it connected to the SAMSUNG Q7 Qled, I have done nothing different since I first connected it. Problems after 1 month is not acceptable especially when it's paired with another new Samsung product.

I purchased this after hearing an incredible demo in a local store. I added a Samsung Q7 65” tv to compliment the sound bar. Problem is, ATMOS does not work (blue light won’t come on). I do not have an ATMOS blue ray, but managed to find a title online that was broadcast in ATMOS. Tried for an hour to make it work. After returning to the store was told that this unit was not built for streaming ATMOS, and it would only work with Atmos Blue Ray Players. Bummer. I don’t do disks anymore. So, the overall sound is pretty good,, so I MAY keep it, but as for Dolby ATMOS, this unit is a bust.

I should've thoroughly read the reviews regarding this system's inability to utilize Atmos via the HDMI Arc direct TV to soundbar connection. The only way to get Atmos is to use an external source such as an xbox, or dedicated bluray player. But I feel like the point of soundbars nowadays is to have a minimal system which was what I was aiming for. I don't plan on hooking up a separate bluray player. If you have an external player then this won't be an issue for you. The system sounds great even without Atmos and the subwoofer is very powerful. Sadly, I'll be returning this unit as there is no Atmos support via HDMI Arc. Samsung needs to listen and address this as this is a major complaint of most customers regarding the HWK850/950 series soundbars. The complaints are dragging the ratings down on this system even though it sounds great.

I bought my HW-850 in December 2016. It's connected to my 55" Samsung curved television via bluetooth. Connecting the system was quick and easy, the sound quality immediately blew me away. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment about 800 sq ft and even at a low volume I can feel the subwoofer in other rooms and hear glass dishes rattle, I Love it! The annoyance is with streaming music via bluetooth from my iPad, iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. The subwoofer is connected to the sound bar via bluetooth and it's like the soundbar can't communicate with the subwoofer fast enough. The sound bar plays the music but the bass of the subwoofer sporadically gets behind then it all becomes very choppy. This only happens when streaming music from other devices. Also, when changing the sound mode, ie Music, Sports, Movie etc. you have to turn the surround sound back on each time you change the sound mode that's also annoying.

I bought a Samsung sound bar. Thinking it's name brand so maybe it will last a few years. Sike!! My soundbar barely made it to 8 months old before I started ha being problems. It would begin to just randomly stop playing my music then start again. If I didn't use it for a few days it would be fine but then would do it again. It is definitely a manufacturer error because I don't allow food/drinks near my speaker and know it has 0 damage. I would definitely suggest going with a different speaker set

I bought HW-K850 Soundbar speaker in December 2016 along with Samsung SUHD TV. Here are my Problems: D.IN-> My Samsung TV remote can't control Sound bar volume when it is connected via D.IN. I have found D.IN is the only way you get consistent clarity on the sound bar, because Wifi / Bluetooth does not work fine always. Wifi-> Connecting TV and Sound bar with Wifi is possible but it does not always work fine. You need to restart the entire system to connect them once again via Wifi when it does not work. Bluetooth-> Connecting TV and Soundbar with Bluetooth is possible, but suddenly it gives white noise / wired noise sometimes. So we have to disconnect immediately. It would work again for sometime if we restart TV and soundbar completely. Connecting the bluetooth to your phone works but sometimes we have to disconnect and connect back to play songs on the soundbar. HDMI-> TV to Soundbar HDMI connection is not possible. The reverse way is possible but we can't control TV and other devices connected to TV with Soundbar Remote. Phone app-> iPhone app is one of the worse. They did improve it a little now compared to 5 months ago, but its still bad. It is not consistent. Overall I am not happy with the Samsung Sound bar.

This is the first time buying a Samsung and my experience with this sound bar was terrible. It really depends on the over all view. I've always been a fan of other brands, the way I got to this sound bar was at Store where I fell in love with the demo they had. I automatically wanted and knew it was the best of everything. During my purchase I did see some bad reviews of this but I ignored it and wanted to give it a shot. Come home and installed I automatically realize it was not the same as what I heard at the store. I made my setup but nothing compared to what I wanted. Comes to a conclusion that you need to have everything Samsung or everything 4K. And in order for atmos to work it has to be a 4K movie or video. I didn't like the idea of that and return the product and during the process I really wanted to give it a shot but I was not satisfied of how poor the volume is in order to hear the sound bar loud and it stops at 50 volume when it's just getting louder. Ideally this is for someone that has Samsung all over the home so you can also add the addition of the 360 speakers.
