Sounds great, has installation and usability flaws
Update Jan 26, 2026: The response from Samsung does not actually address my issue. The TV and Soundbar are configured just as they suggest. The TV remote works perfectly well controlling the volume from the soundbar. The problem is that when the TV is in External Speaker mode, and it "sees" the signal from the volume control on the remote, it displays a "Function Not Available" error on the TV screen. The response from Samsung in my review makes it seem like this is not a real issue and is user-error. This is incorrect.
Sounds great. But I deducted 2 stars for usability / installation issues:
1. The USB jack for updating the firmware is an obsolete USB-micro jack. You are *required* to buy an adapted to connect a USB Flash drive for this one purpose. They should include the cable since there is literally no other way to update the firmware. It's impossible to plug in the jack after installing the soundbar, so you have to install the cable before mounting. And then, no matter how hard I tried or how many internet searches, I could not get the soundbar to recognize the file. Maybe if you have a very old PC and a very old flashdrive, both will have compatible file systems? I could not get it to work. Very niche cable adapter now in my box of extra cables in my closet.
2. The installation brackets are 17-3/4" apart. If they were 16", you'd have a chance of getting it on two studs. Nope. No matter how you install it, you need to use at least one drywall anchor. Measure the bracket width yourself before drilling. I used the included paper template, and unless I pulled it super-duper taut, it was a 1/4" short.
3. No digital optical audio cable included. It does include an HDMI cable. So, now I have one more HDMI cable (up to 15 at last count) in my box of cables in my closet.
4. This might just be an issue with my Samsung TV model, and using digital audio out, but it's my review, and this affects me. When my TV is set to "external speaker" so I can use the Digital Audio out, and the Soundbar is configured for use by Samsung TV IR-Remote, every time I adjust the volume with the TV remote, my TV displays an error across the screen: "Not Available." It works fine with the included Soundbar remote, but I'd like to use one remote.

Works well with Samsung tv
It's not as wow as I expected. It's better than the Samsung tv but not overwhelming. For example the audio voice assistant while adjusting it with its remote sounds great compared to the actual audio coming thru from the show you are watching. Need more richer sound. Still too mumbled without turning up the treble too far and getting tin sound after each word spoken. But the tv recognized it immediately when I hooked it up making very easy to control volume and some setting on tv. It is close to the entry level but for $200 on sale I was expecting more.

Sound bar HW-S50B
I initially purchased a HE-400/ZA 2 Chanel bar for my 55"U7900 UHD 4K TV, which through troubleshooting with Samsung help desk discovered it wasn't compatible with that TV, I returned it to best buy and got refunded and I turned around and Purchased the HW-S50B BAR and it was a 100% improvement of quality sound.

sound adjustments too slow annoying etc
The only problem I have that is annoying. Is turning the sound down or evening turning it louder. It takes the LOngest time to get the sound you want.

That s is The Brand and the equipment....
I have never imagine, I would be able to listen l, such a crispy sound, outdoors.

Very nice equipment
Out of the box,it just feels like a lot of work was put into production.heafty components everything feels solid
I've always been a Bose person but I have to say.. Samsung, they're making some inroads for sure I have always had a Galaxy phone and would never leave that but..after a few years with the sound bar and subwoofer..I think I have a new sound device for my house

Over all a great buy.

Great sound, some issues...
Pros:
Great sound from this speaker on my terrace. Projects sound well, low distortion, clear vocals, good dynamic range.
Cons:
Wifi services like Spotify Connect are slow to connect and slow to respond to inputs like track changes.
Bought two of these outdoor soundbars hoping to sync the sound between them for more immersive coverage of my terrace, but I cannot seem to create an audio/speaker group in the SmartThings app. Please, Samsung, provide a firmware update to allow this feature! (without bricking my device ;) )

Great Sound + Options
I love the product. I love all Samsung products. The only con I have is that I always am having issues with the Bluetooth working for the sound to work. It works and then it doesn't. Constantly reconnecting it etc. Crazy because it's a wired connection. Also same issues when I switch to WiFi for soundbar too

Quality Sound Is Missing For $200.00!
I am a pretty good sound guy and always have been. I paid $199.99 for this Samsung HW-S50B soundbar and I must say that for $200.00 I really was hoping it would sound better than it does. It is hooked to a brand new Samsung U8000 43 in TV. I will return this ASAP and will stay with a Samsung soundbar but now I see that this single soundbar doesn't give me the sound I am looking for I will go with a sounbar that either comes with a subwoofer and/or rear speakers. I know "you get what you pay for" but again this soundbar was $200.00 and should give the quality sound I'm looking for. If this soundbar is low level and basic then the price should reflect that and not be priced at $200.00.
