Samsung SSD drives still sets the industry standard for flash memory. I've owned the 980 1TB for just under 3.5 years (Dec 2022). No problems, fast r/w, drive magician software performs f/w updates without worry of bricking. The read/write is technically outdated by a few iterations on this model but it's fast enough that I'll likely buy another 2x of this specific model with how ssd prices are marketwide. With 1GBPS Internet the 950s are basically a 1:1 without bottleneck. I can also download/install it update games in the background without a performance hit on competitive games so its good enough for me. I also have an 850 Evo 500G from 2015 that is still used (benchmark r/w 11 years later is higher than listed at 554 read and 535 write) , and another old Samsung ssd drive from 2010. These drives will not die, haven't ran into an compatibility issues over the years. For reference I used to work in a computer shop and did data recovery, some of my old toolset I used via Linux is available in their software like 1:1 cloneing (added bonus you can benchmark your drive's as well to get a value on its actual read/write; great for troubleshooting). Tldr if you're getting an SSD get Samsung. If you're trying to save money with another brand just go back a few versions for a slower listed r/w clock and get Samsung.

I purchased the 980 1TB NVME SSD around when it first released at a great price at my local Micro center. I am astonished on how it has held up over the years still providing me with almost instant loading times while doing absolutely anything on my setup. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a reliable, easy to install, and definitely bang for your buck nvme ssd.Wa

I've had the Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB quite a while now and I really enjoy using it inside my gaming PC it works wonderfully and has very high downloading and uploading speeds or Reading Writing speeds . I don't think that I could go to a different memory manufacturer after using this memory stick . it is in wonders and it continues to amaze me.

I've been using the 980 500gb SSD for over 4 years now as my primary drive and throughout many reads and writes it's gone through, it is still holding up very reliably. It's continued to run plenty fast enough. I would say going forward into 2026 and beyond, you will want at least a 1tb drive minimum.

This is a very good SSD, but it is slightly outdated. It has been working for years for me and there's been no issues and worked across multiple of my computers with little to no issue, I can't complain about 1tb considering that's what i bought. It runs cool and my software and games load pretty fast.

The lighting fast performance from the 980 increased the startup of my computer, the transfer speed from one drive to another, and the opening of programs. I was so impressed by the first one, I grabbed two more! I'm able to do video editing, gaming, and even just simple browsing so much faster now. Best drive I've ever used. Speeds and reliability beats out everything in its class. Switching from a sata SSD or HDD as your boot drive to an NVMe M.2 is a must, and for me, Samsung's have been the fastest and most stable.

My experience with the Samsung 980 Pro nVME drive has been excellent. Since updating the firmware to the latest release it has been rock solid in terms of reliability. The speed has been more than sufficient for my needs and I can recommend it for both gamers and professionals. I have the 1TB model but it comes in various capacities, including 2TB and 4TB. The 980 Pro is a Gen 4X4 PCIE nVME drive but is compatible with both Gen 3 and 5 interfaces.

This drive is by far the fastest drive I have ever used. Not only that, it doesn't get hot at all. Running this in an external 80Gbps enclosure for file backup and sync, the drive gets warm, at best, and the enclosure fan does not even come on.
