i bought this 3 years ago and it already doesn't wrk with the nex app of smartthings... so it is basically a piece of useless plastic. i will not buy any more samsung devices again

i would give this a 5 star review - as i have three of them - and have been happy for many years - however their lack of updating firmware to remove hacking vulnerabilities is beyond comprehension. currently there are 26 known issues with the firmware. i feel they must either update their firmware for security compliance - or provide me some form of compensation for their lack of support.

The camera takes good quality video. The IR/night vision is also very good. It was fairly straightforward to set up. However, I did not realize that a Samsung account is required not only to set up the camera but also to view the video and change the settings. There is no way to control the camera or change settings through the local network. You must go through the Samsung website and install a 3rd party plugin on your computer. The plugin does not work with Google Chrome. I was able to view an RTSP feed to view video on the local network without the Samsung app. But I cannot change the camera settings locally. In addition, the RTSP feed does not work if the "encrypt image" setting is enabled. So if you want to view video without Samsung's app, you have to broadcast unencrypted video to the internet. Other problems: The camera also gets very hot, even when it is not being accessed. The bright power LED can be turned off in the settings but it does not remember the setting after powering the camera off. This means you have to log into the slow Samsung website to turn off the LED any time the camera is unplugged. This camera would be great if you could access it directly without going through the Samsung website.
