Nothing really Kids focused about this
there's nothing notable that makes this tablet kid-friendly over a regular samsung tablet other than then the neon yellow bumper guard and the kids logo that appears during the boot up. i was hoping the ui would be kid focused, but it's not. my three year old would be able to fiddle with settings and the tablet comes loaded with all the standard android os app.

Not everything we needed.
we selected the galaxy tab a kids edition for our son because we liked the idea of a tablet that allowed him the independence of exploring content while still using solid parental controls.
however:
* some of the apps that we were looking for behaved in ways that the app makers cannot explain. other apps, like the omnipresent amazon kindle, are missing.
* parental controls work really well if you've got a singular control account for your kids. we needed to create a google account for our son, which now allows him to juggle devices efficiently so that a few hours on his different devices with different controls (firetv, pc, what have you), and he's still able to spend a full day on screens.
much of this tablet seems one step removed from everything else we've set up for our son.

in less than four months the tablet will not hold a charge for more than an hour. with remote learning, my daughter needs to use it for longer than that. two days ago the charging port stopped working completely. so now we have a very expensive paper weight. disgusted with the quality of a pretty expensive purchase.

Really fragile, not usable by kids.
the screen will crack if you look at it the wrong way, samsung do make bold claims of how rugged it is, all vapor ware. when the screen cracks they want you to buy another one, avoid this for kids!

Waste of money
i absolutely love the helicopter parent controls this tablet gives me. the system is totally mom controlled but they don't tell you that you have to pay for the kids service. you can use the tablet without it but in order to use the system they advertise you have to pay a monthly or yearly fee. if that wasn't annoying enough, within 3 months this screen will be broken. not like oh its just a little crack, we are talking full on shattered. like an idiot i paid the $99 to get the screen repaired. within one week of us getting the tablet back it was shattered again. if you trust me and do not buy this tablet, you will not only save money but countless stress headaches.

Very poor quality. Complete waste of money!
i have purchased for my 3 old son back in june.
after 3 months the tablet does not charge anymore. i have been asked to pay $160 for repairs as it is not covered by warranty.
i have my iphone 5 purchased back in 2013 and it is still working fine.
if the micro-usb is desinged poorly, you need to redesing it, especialy for young kids.
unfortunately, very dissopontong experience and waste on money.

why does my kids samsung galaxy tab always go to google play store all the time and then try to get a game and then it goes to a white screen and then back to google play store

Limited Storage - Unable to use SD card
item is marketed to have expandable storage by using an sd card. after receiving an error message trying to move kids+ apps to card, i contacted support. after a week of troubleshooting and jumping through hoops, i was told that firmware on the model does not allow for use of the sd card. the limited storage makes this device fairly useless. i would not have made the purchase had it not been marketed as having expandable storage. very misleading.

my younger daughter has an amazon kid-tablet and we purchased this one for my older daughter. it claims to be kid friendly, the bumper case peotects against bumps and drops. my youngest drops her tablet multiple times day, not a scratch. my oldest drops it once and the screen is cracked in multiple places. thats not kid friendly. i was also told that i would have to pay out of pocket for repairs. nothing like amazon, they replace/repair for free because it is supposed to be kid friendly.
we will not be purchasing a new one, but instead going with a kindle.

Very good in performance
i was looking to buy this for my 3 kids, and this turned out to be very cheap, and samsung kids works perfect on this tablet, my 3 children enjoy it! i am planning to buy 2 more for my 2 other children, because it is so cheap, and so worthy, and overall, it is the best!

LOVE THIS AS DOES MY CHILD
no issues with this at all, easy to use and my child loves the samsung kids! the ouside piece comes off if you need to clean either one (the tablet or case)

Features and product durability
i am a samsung person. i am very disappointed with this tablet. purchased it for my grandson's birthday in april. it was suppose to be kid friendly with the protective shell cover. the screen is not cracked physically but the image is distorted. apparently, this is not covered under the warranty. had it less than 4 months. complete waste of money. i would not recommend this product.

Exactly What I Was Looking For
Perfect for my son and just what i was looking for! Something easy and quick loading. I live the parental settings so that he can only access apps that are parent approved.

Screens both broke within 6 months
we had the previous version of this kid tablet for years when my kids were toddlers. when the charging ports broke on them, i stuck with this version since that one was great. this new version breaks very easily. i wouldn't consider this kid friendly. my kids are older now and much less rough with them yet both of their screens spider cracked from one edge to the other, from a drop off their lap onto carpet. that's not a quality kids tablet. i understand screen replacement is not part of their warranty because accidents absolutely do happen but when so many customers are complaining that the screens break too easily, maybe something should be done about it. i'll be buying another brand from now on.

Pretty decent!
set your expectations appropriately and this is a pretty awesome little tablet! i bought this to use as a navigation system for my motorcycle. the kids software was removed and replaced with what i need (standard android apps). the unit does have gps/altimeter, but does not have compass. that is fine since most software can detect orientation based on movement. my only complaint is that the soft silicone rubber cover is a little slippery. as for broken screens--understand that they are glass. glass breaks. it's motorcycle tough, but not kid-proof. if mine ever breaks, i will still consider this to be a good deal since my expectations are that it is disposable.

Screen breaks easily
The screen cracked with in the first month from being dropped... you have to buy a new one you can?t get the screen replaced. Otherwise I loved the tablet. Just wasted the money On a tablet that isn?t kid proof. But the product itself is good just it isn?t really that kid friendly.

This is So geared towards kids with the Samsung ap
I bought this as a Christmas gift , I am setting up the tablet before I give it,the updates using the free samsung kids trial ,with games , books ect. This is really quite nice once on the kids app they need the password to exit it. Once out of the kids network it is nice all for one tab that will connect to you tube ect. No lagging at all. Downloads are quick. I bought this on sale for 99.00 at samsung website. I see they are sold out.

Nice for My Guest Room!
Very happy with it. Wifi only, but was a "rewards purchase" for use in my guest room--nice display size, featherlite if you take off the kid-proof case, rich color, fast processor. Nice for my guests!
