i've been quite happy with tablet & because, i dropped & cracked the screen on my 1st one, i bought a 2nd. that says something right there, as i could've used that opportunity to try something else. i'm not very tech savvy & i found it much more user-friendly over my previous apple tablet. the reason i didn't give it 5 stars, however, is because i think the settings need work. it could be much more user friendly, especially the "looking for something else" prompt. as far as functionality & performance, however, this tablet is top notch. it would be great if it came with a little more memory, too, but i know they have to draw limits somewhere. overall, i do (& have) recommended this tablet & can't imagine anyone regretting their purchase of this tablet!

just received the tab a 8.0 back from a warranty check as it had stopped working. photos showed internal water damage. considering the device was either mounted to the windscreen (internal) of my car, in the glovebox of the car or on a high shelf at home i can only wonder if the product is not sneeze proof.

I've had this tablet since May 2018. It is now running Android 9.0 and UI upgrades that were received via official pushes from Samsung. The battery life, performance, and app compatibility are solid. It's been an excellent travel companion for watching movies, and handling my maps, hotel reservations, email and finance needs when on the road. I prefer the 8.0" tablet size over the 10" because it's just small enough to be able to hold single-handed while typing with the other. Only negative comment I have on the design is that the case is pretty slippery.

I only use my tablet for reading. I've never traveled with it, never dropped it. I usually keep it charged, but one time I accidentally let it die. After that, it wouldn't charge or power on. I contacted Samsung. But, I had had the tablet all of 13 months, so it was out of warranty. They wanted me to pay nearly half the original purchase price to have it repaired. So, I did some searching online to see what other options I had. Apparently, this is an extremely common problem with Samsung tablets. Look it up yourself. They lock up, and the battery needs to be completely disconnected to perform a hard reset. Well, since the battery is internal, the bezel has to be popped open and removed. The user forums on this issue date back several years. Samsung must surely be aware of this problem by now and makes no effort to fix it or to warn consumers. If your tablet ever fully looses charge, you may not be able to turn it back on without cracking it open. Mine is currently being used as a paper weight.

In the beginning it was fine but eventually this thing cuts on and off. Ive reset it way too many times but unfortunately it still have the same problem. That part itself overrides everything good about it.

I bought this for my 9 years old son to play and do homework on it. He loves it because he can download so many apps, takes pictures and videos. It's just right for him to go anywhere with it.

The device DOESN'T find/connect to all Wifi networks when travelling internationally. Purchased this device specifically as a compact and light device for travel but found it very frustrating when arriving to certain places with free wifi and this device wouldn't find the network (while my Samsung phone and windows computer did). It seems that this tablet is specifically configured for a purely american market and so cannot see Wifi networks using channels 12 and 13 (allowed outside the US). As this was a dealbreaker, i didn't get to use it much. But it does have very good specs.

The price point is a huge factor in my purchase, however I realize that after owning a Galaxy Tab A7 for a few months. I quickly fell in love with the OS and UI features. Coming over from iPhones and iPads it took a little getting used to but alas, I am free from apple products. Unless you are super stuck on iTunes and iOS, I consider this an easy switch. At the price, I can easily replace these tablets and phones every 3 - 4 years for around $200 each vs. The alternative. I am a typical end user, i have a few apps, use social media, games, web browsing, email and stream music, TV and movies on the go.

I use this for email, games, books, browsing the Internet, Facebook, etc. Great performance, nice screen size and resolution. With the cover I also bought, it feels like I'm holding a book. Haven't used the cameras too much, but the handful of photos I've taken looked good.

I bought this because I love my old Tab A and this one seemed to have even more advantages. The space addition is great. The touch screen ain't. Neither is the goofy access to insert micro sd card. To type an email or navigate a screen I feel I've got to punch a hole in it to produce letter or get where I need to go. I hope these issues will get fixed with an update. Meanwhile I am using my old Tab A to type this and everything else I need to do without a hammer. Also I prefer a format that does not reduce my mp4 movies (many to the size of a horizontal rubber band. Still I keep it (and hope for a screen fix) because I don't need the price of an s2 or s3.

Bought this tablet for my fiancé for our 12 yr, he always wanted a tablet just didn’t know much about them. Bought this tablet and was very glad I did. He has had it for over a month now, uses it everyday. It’s fast, very responsive and has had no issues. It’s one of the best purchases I have made. Gonna get myself one as well. I highly recommend.

Bought this tablet to use for my e-textbooks because I thought it would be more convenient, but the battery can take 10 hours (when off) to charge 30% and will hold for only 2 hours (drains about 15% every hour, even when the screen is off, power-saver, lowest lights, not watching video, etc). I spent 24 hours charging it before hand to make sure it was at 100% for my open-book exam, turned it off overnight so it wouldn't drain, but the tablet powered on at 5% the next morning. Asides from the battery unreliability, everything else is amazing.

So far we like the tablet, but have not been able to use it much, yet. I was unable to get it to configure to use our home network, Google Fiber, so that made it highly unusable since that is our main target location. I spent quite a while chatting with Samsung support and then waited for them to service it, only to have it come back with the same problem. I contacted Google Fiber support and they jumped right to the problem. The tablet cannot stay connected to a default Google Fiber network, which I believe offers both 2.4 gHz and 5 gHz bandwidths to attaching devices. Google Fiber had me set up a 5 gHz ONLY network and connect the tablet to it to solve the problem. So, now we are getting a chance to actually use it. So far, so good!

not going to say how old - just old. big problem is the size of home screen icons and their titles. they are very small, difficult to see with my reading glasses. if I can't find a way to increase their size, I'll be forced to buy a second pair of reading glasses, specifically for use with the tablet. strangely, the options in settings for font type, font size and screen zoom has absolutely no effect on the home screen. I've tried many launchers, none of them performed the way I needed. small problem - wish it has 2 speakers for stereo sound. we all will just have to make do with only a single mono speaker. naturally it's stereo with external speakers and headphones, plug-in or Bluetooth.

Icons and thier titles on all home screens are too small. there is no option to incease them. screen zoom and font setting has to effect on content of home screens. have tried many-many diffrent home screen launchers on app store. few can fix icon/title size problem but loose some cool original functioning in the process. the speaker sound is very good but its placement is not and it's only one speaker, so it's mono. would be better to have 2 speakers, 1 on the top face and the other on the bottom face. having only one on the side -- i'm constantly covering the speaker with my left thumb. the all open touch button and the back touch button are difficult to see in a well lite environment, impossible in dim light. you'll need to touch, not push, the home button then slide to the left to activate all open button. slide to the right the activate the back button. those touch buttons are on opposite sides of the home button, as compared to most other common tablets and phones.

I've officially made this my gps unit along with mobile office for working out of my truck. I absolutely love the Samsung Flow app as it will automatically connect my S8 Active and tablet together along with tethering when I walk out of the house or office wifi. This is the perfect size for mobility sake along with magnet mounting on my dashboard as my gps unit. Also, Otterbox makes an awesome case for this as well if you take a walkabout on worksites and you're worried about dropping it.

First time tablet owner, I needed something between a laptop and a cellphone for keeping track of work/life stuff so I made the plunge after my tax return. I love this thing, I spend good deal of time on it at night (my wife does as well). Battery lasts a very long time, I charge it once every two days. No lag when playing games or other more intensive tasks. The play store has tons of tools.I actually write a bit of code on it (python, JAVA, etc). Really nice product for the price. I read a lot of reviews and some people didn't like things such as screen resolution, it's a tablet, the image looks great, does a tablet really need high def? Nothing looks pixelated, webpages are great, zero complaints.

I am very happy with the new 2017 model Galaxy Tab A. I like the 32 gb memory, which means I can have the apps I want without having to worry about running out of memory. By that I mean that with the old tab 4 8 gb, sure, it was upgradeable with a mini SD card. But by the 2nd or 3rd upgrade of an app on the SD the app would have to be removed and couldn't be re-saved back to the SD. Eventually the tab 4 started running out of memory because of all the pre-installed "software". I now have all the memory needed if that should happen again. I also like the new Samsung Notes that took the place of Memo and was able to replace Memo on my Gal S6 with it and the fact that they synchronize. Others have mentioned in reviews elsewhere as well as here, that it is hard to find accessories for this tablet. Not so. I have accessorized this one by looking online. Tablet covers and screen glass protectors are readily available for the new Tab A. I had fully accessorized it with a new cover and glass protector even before the tablet was in hand.
