I bought this optic for duty use 3 years ago. After numerous missions this scope has been beat up during breaching, banged around during rescues, and in the trunk during a car accident getting rear ended in the freeway. This scope has never failed in any way and I?ve only ever had to make one zero adjustment, which was only .5 moa to the right. This scope replaced my aim point on my M4 and is very versatile going from entry work to DMR duties. Very minimal battery changes and clear glass. This scope just works very well and is durable and reliable.

I purchased this to install on a 16" AR-15 CAR and it has worked out very well. It has very good quality glass and I really like the reticle. The only complaint that I have is the same as I have seen other report and that is that the windage and elevation adjustments could be crisper. The clicks are not very positive so it is somewhat hard to make good adjustments.

Super bright dot, clean reticle, feels high quality, I prefer the matte finish to some of the scopes out there with a shinier one, relatively forgiving eye box, great! Had an issue with the throw lever that was swiftly resolved after contacting customer support. Highly recommended.

I bought this scope about a month ago and got it mounted on the gun I was going to use for deer hunting this week (our season is only about a week. I went to the range Friday to get the scope zeroed and ready to go. I had some issues with getting a solid zero but assumed it must have been my shooting. It turned dark before I felt 100% confident in my zero so I decided to get up Saturday morning (first day of the season) and ensure I had a solid zero before I hunt. When I went back to the range, I found that something was wrong with the scope. It was extremely blurry when turned to 1X and no adjustments seem to help. There is also lots of scope shadow. The picture below is exactly what it looks like looking through the scope. It’s so bad that I can’t even see what is on the other end of it when I’m looking through the scope. In addition it sounds like something is loose inside. I have taken extremely good care of the scope so far. It’s never been dropped, banged, or even bounced around in a car. It’s only been taken to the range twice and both times it was kept in a padded case on the way. I would think that it would be way more durable than that considering how expensive it was. The $80 Nikon I recently got rid of took way more abuse than it and I never had a problem with it. The turrets on that scope were better as well. I have been having a really hard time getting a response from anyone at Steiner as well. Every time I call the waiting list is extremely long and nobody has answered my online request. I think next time I’ll stick with Vortex. Their optics seem to hold up much better and they have much better customer service. Thanks for wasting my 2019 deer season!

Very solid optic & exceptional glass, this 1-4 is closer to being a 1-6 in clarity & brightness.

The wiring to the red dot has become dislodged from the reticle and is now off center. This occurred after 40-50 rounds of .223. It becomes a more prominent issue as the magnification is increased.

I've wanted a LPVO for over two years but didn't want to spend Razor or Khales money. I finally decided to get the P4xi and I'm super glad I did. It's crystal clear, great FOV and a good eye box. The price is more than fare for the quality. I love this scope!

I have one mounted on my 16" ar15 in an ADM 1301 mount. Pro Price Great glass even with my eyes Great illumination(haven't tested in extreme bright daylight Great warranty Cons Knobs are mushy, nothing feels positiv, the clicks are not that loud to me, makes me think its between a click. Heavy No threading for a sunshade or killflash Magnification dial is stiff, you have to have a throw lever If you run a rear lense cover forget about adjusting your focus ring Eye relief for me is lacking as is the eyebox I really want to get another, don't get me wrong I did rag on it but it's still a good optic. Yet the positivity of the dials and need for a throw lever really makes it hard for me to quantify another. That said I would still suggest it.

I purchased this optic from my dealer at the same time I purchased a new rifle. I intend to use this combination in 3 gun competition. The reputation of Steiner and the clarity of this optic were the selling features. I am extremely happy with it.

I don't normally write these on company websites, but this optic deserves its review. I cannot describe the clarity this optic has. Compared to every other optic I own, this one, hands down, is clearer than $1000 optics from competitors. It currently sits on my Mossberg MVP Scout in 308 and it feels like injustice putting such a nice optic on such a chunky gun. However, come deer season, we will see if I can make it happen!

I deliberated a long time before getting this scope. I looked at every brand of low variable power scope I could find. I am so pleased with this scope because it's reticle is clear and sharp and so is the illumination. The illumination cap that unscrews to change the battery was very difficult to unscrew. It unscrews counter clockwise. I have no complaints with the clicks of the MOA knobs. Some reports say they're a little mushy. This scope is just as good as the ones in the higher price ranges. Highly recommend.

This optic is very well built with excellent glass and sturdy construction. The reticle is easy to use and can be used without illumination. I put this optic on my Colt 6920 and I have been taking 300 yard shots with ease with the 4x power. An excellent buy and I highly recommend this optic.

The P4xi is astonishing, best glass for half the price of others I looked at, better than my Leupold VX3 and as good as my Steiner Binoculars . I love this scope. The red dot is truly daylight bright.

I recently purchased this to mount on a BCM rifle. It has been through a Frank Proctor class and has several thousand rounds through it. The scope has been banged around and has not been "babied." I have shot it from 1 to 460 yards. The dot is perfect for both CQB and long-distance shooting. My only complaint is the "mushey" feel between intensity level settings. I would definitely buy this scope again. It is much better than my department-issued Leupold VXR-Patrol.

Excellent clear scope, nice finish lenses are clear and not too heavy for a ar-15 type rifle, compact in length mounted mine in a larue tactical mount 30 mm And has been a great combo, bought scope from optics planet after calling them and getting there best price policy couldn't resist. It's defiantly worth the small amount difference in price compared to other quality scope manufactures for the quality and clarity you get with this scope. You will not be disappointed Cons: didn't come with throw lever which honestly is needed with this scope it is very hard to turn for magnification. Also out to 300 yards scope does fine on targets but I have bad vision and could have used a 1-6 scope instead of the 1-4 power. But don't let that make you buy a cheaper 1-6 scope cause outside a vortex razor there isn't anything under 1500 dollars that I have seen to be this clear.

I purchased my P4xi with my Eotech refund money, and I couldn't be happier. The reticle is awesome in 1x for cqb and with an ability to give you 4x zoom it's the best of both worlds.

This optic is superb. It is amazing that they are selling this scope for the price that they are. The glass for this optic was confirmed to be of the same quality as their 1-5 which is far more than double the price!! Im almost afraid to put that in the review with the thought that they will realize that and double the price. The clarity of the glass is unrivaled by any glass I've looked through and keeps that clarity all the way out to 4 magnification. The dot is crisp and draws the eye and does not have any ghosting. The crosshair is simple yet extremely useful although I do wish it had windage marks. The included throw lever also seems to be of very high quality and is easy to install. As others have said the only real cons are the "mushiness" of the dials. Its not a big enough deal for me to think about it but I do wish they had made them a little more positive. Overall an amazing deal and I will be buying at least one more while these scopes stay at this price and are readily available. You WONT be disappointed with your purchase.

I wanted a 1-4 optic for my patrol rifle started with an accupower and the illumination was not daylight bright and the back wash at night was so bright it was dangerous for low light work. The Steiner P4Xi has neither of these problems and it's evident that Steiner made this for operational use.

I ordered a PX4 as a Fathers Day gift for myself and so I could get one with the free Steiner mount and magnification throw lever. I ordered on line from an approved vendor. The scope came in, it had a small scratch in front of the powder adjustment ring and for some reason I had trouble getting the reticle focused. The scratch wasn't so bad that I actually thought about keeping the scope anyway, but the reticle issued bothered me, so I contacted the vendor, they sent out another scope right away and sent me the 100% free return label for the first scope. The second scope actually came in on the same day as I got the return label via email, so I had the ability to compare the two scopes. The second one had no blemishes, but the dot on the second seemed to work better (it made me realize that the dot on the first one, even though it was definitely daylight visible, wasn't nearly as bright on the highest of settings in comparison to #2). One major problem with scope #2 though was that the bottom leg of the vertical reticle line was "bent" (See picture). Yes, it was actually curved to the left, all the way up into the ranging cross-hash marks. The retailer was amazed when I told the rep this problem and they were willing to send me another, but instead, since the LED was much brighter on this one, I decided to just go through Steiner warranty service and get this one fixed so I could apply for my free mount while #2 was in the shop. Steiner sent me another return label no questions asked and off it went, free of charge. BTW, the optical quality of the glass on both of the first 2 scopes was excellent and I own many other fairly expensive pieces of glass to compare it to (Leupold Mk4-M1, Nightforce, a couple Vortex PST's, and a Meopta). The problem was essentially with the P4X reticle alone. Anyway, Steiner had a brand new scope in my possession within a week or two. This one was cosmetically flawless, the reticle was perfect and focused nice and sharp, the glass' optical quality was "Steiner excellent" like the other 2 and even the red dot was nice and bright like scope #2 was. SWEET! About a week ago, I got my free mount too. Nice mount! Well machined and I love the built in bubble level. This level would be especially handy for a 7.62mm version of an AR; for 5.56mm, due to the much shorter effective range of that round, it's probably overkill, but still nice! Last night I finally got a chance to mount the scope on my AR.... Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh....! The mount is not high enough so that the eyepiece bell can clear my rear backup sight (Magpul MBUS)!!! Kinda disappointing after all of the above process... BUT, the eye relief on the scope might be long enough so that I can move the MBUS way back on the receiver rail and put the scope/eyepiece far enough forward to still get a good sight picture.. It was late last night so I didn't get a chance to play with it to see if this will work just yet... Even though the above "problems" sound like I should really be knocking this scope down, since I knew I'd be waiting for the free mount to arrive anyway, and since all the returns, etc... didn't cost me more than a few minutes of my time, I WOULD still recommend the Steiner P4X scope. Optical quality is excellent. I love the simplicity of the reticle compared to say a Vortex Strike Eagle. The LED dot inside the P4X is AWESOMELY SMALL (and bright!) so that even at 300+ yards, the dot will not obscure a lot of even a small sized target With the true 1X level of non-magnification, the P4X offers an even better field of view than the many Aimpoints I own (PRO's, Comp M2 & M4's). Even the Trijicon MRO can barely compare in this field of view comparison, AND, the P4X will dial up to an adequate 4X magnification when the targeting parameters and distance calls for it. Just MAKE THE MOUNT 1/4" TO 3/8" HIGHER GUYS SO MY MBUS WILL FIT UNDERNEATH THE EYEPIECE!!! ;-)

You can spend more, but you won't get more. This scope has glass clarity that you would normally pay at least twice the msrp for. The reticle is simple and precise. Illumination is visible even in bright sunlight. Build quality is battle grade. 1x is as fast as a red dot. This scope is an awesome do-all rifle optic. Buy one!

I had just purchased a new AR 15 and was interested in installing a scope on it! I done some research and was pretty much confident that I would be purchasing a Vortex Viper! That is until I talk to one of the knowledgeable salesmen at my local gun store. He pulled out a Steiner P4Xi and showed me the difference in the quality and clarity of the optics of the Steiner! I was blown away! So..... I ended up with the Steiner P4Xi mounted on my AR 15 and I'm very happy with my choice!

I bought this scope around a month ago to use in service rifle matches. I was a little concerned since I read most people set the elevation and windage then cover the turrets and forget them. Due to the nature of service rifle matches the turrets have to be turned often and need to be reliable. I had a malfunction 5 rounds in to the first string of fire and attempted to clear it everyway I knew. This consisted of slamming the buttstock on the ground and finally using the heel of my boot to attempt to break the round loose from the chamber. During all this the scope was kicked and banged multiple times. I finally got the round out of the chamber and finished the string of fire. I continued to shoot using my normal settings for the various yard lines. After all the beating and banging that happened to clear the round from the chamber at the beginning the only thing that had changed was 2 clicks of windage. The elevation stayed true at every yard line. This could be attributed to the low cost scope mount I am using but either way I was extremely impressed with the toughness of this scope. Even the guy on the line that was scoring me couldn't believe it wasn't off more than that. I missed the free cantilever mount by one day when I bought the scope but it is well worth the money I paid for it. Time will tell if the turrets stay true after being turned so much. As for the match I managed to place within the top twenty out of over a hundred competitors. Not bad for having been out of the sport for over 5 years. Thank you for such a great product, as clear as the glass is you may want to consider getting in to the service rifle scope market.
