Direct purchase ensure it's no knock off. Great glass and turrets. Smooth transaction. Shipping speed and communication weren't great. But knowing it's a factory-direct "cosmetic" deal made the wait totally worthwhile.

I bought two of these and both were dead on arrival. The first I bought through Amazon but the order was fulfilled by EuroOptic. That scope directly out-of-the-box had a broken O-ring sticking out from under the elevation turret. I immediately returned it to EuroOptic. The second had no visible broken O-rings. Instead the windage turret was very difficult to turn in various areas. I played with the windage a bit, just by turning it in hopes it would smooth out, when I noticed the turret lock was non-functional. I then looked over the whole scope and noted many anodizing marks/dings on a new out-of-the-box scope. Finally, I looked down the objective and saw lots of dirt and dust within the scope itself. What a shame for a made in the USA scope, with great glass, and awesome features at a killer price. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. The first failure was painful. The second is painfully hilarious. I have $2700 missing from my checking, a broken scope shipped off to EuroOptic, and another broken scope in hand.

One of the best scopes on the market - Alpha glass, locking turrets, green illumination, phenomenal at low light, not too heavy, comes with sunshade, tenebraex flip up caps, & a Steiner throw lever. And, it's worth mentioning again, the glass is just superior - as it has German Schott glass. Steiner really meant business this time.....

I was looking for a LPVO to put on a POF Revolution 308 that I purchased. I knew about the quality of the Steiner optics from a representative that gave a demonstration to a law enforcement firearms trainer organization I was in. I went into an armory that specializes in law enforcement sales inquiring about a purchase. As luck would have it a LE task force had just traded in 6 of the 1X5X24 scopes for red dot optics, as they had been using the 1X5's for two years and seldom took them off of 1X. I picked one up, as it was in excellent condition and the price was right. I mounted the scope in a cantilever mount and used it in various forms of shooting. I was concerned that the 5X upper limit would be somewhat restrictive but I have found that I am able to get good target acquisition out to 500 yards. Even though the scope I have is marked for the 5.56 I find that my rounds for 168 gr. 7.62 NATO strike very close to the indicated reticle marks. If I need to make a precision shot I can use the elevation dial to put me on target. I liked the scope so well that I went back to see if there were any others left and to my disappointment all of the trade-ins were gone. This scope is amazingly clear at all magnifications. The FFP etched reticle is easy to pick up. I only illuminate it when there is very low light. It is built like a tank, and therefore is heavy. That is the price you have to pay for the reliability that come with this scope. I have enjoyed the quality of this scope that I continued to search for another one and was able to get a second one. I looked at other scopes but I couldn't find the clarity that the Steiner has in other optics unless I was willing to spend more money that the Steiner cost.
