I've used a good quality, less expensive brand of binoculars for years. They were adequate, not great. The Steiner Navigator Pro is great. Wide, clear view -- like viewing high definition television. Excellent in low light. Rock solid compass. High quality binoculars are the best piece of safety equipment you can have on board.

I purchased this Steiner glass because I haven't been able to locate my Swift 7x50 w/ compass binos after a recent move. The Steiner have excellant optics, perhaps a bit heavy- but definately sturdy. The view of the compass takes some getting use to, but that was also the case with the Swift pair. I did purchase the floating strap, seems this should have been included, but piece of mind is a good thing.

I got these as a gift a month ago and they are the best binoculars I have ever used. The clarity and automatic focus is amazing. Taking fixes and plotting courses is much more efficient with these binoculars .

I am a Master Mariner in Cargo ships. I use that binoculars as a private purchase. Very good quality specially in law visibility conditions and slight fog that lights should be recognized asap, special during dense traffic in China. The only cons is the weight that during Navigation, with one hand keeping binoculars and with other hand interact with ECDIS/ RADARS etc is little difficult specially in VTS, port or congested anchorage approach that effective conning and quick orders are essential for safe navigation. Binculars are also very good responding to temperature alterations. For example from bridge to the wing and vice versa during navigation without fogging lenses. !!

The bottom line, you get what you pay for. My Navigator Pro 7x50 C was well worth the price.

This is my fourth pair of Steiner Binoculars. First one was bought in 1979 and is still going strong (military marine 7x50.) The design can't be beat, eliminating the need to focus depending on distance. This is my first pair with the compass. It is very useful and is well lit by ambient light and the battery powered illuminator. These 7x30s are very small and fit in a large pocket. Images are extremely clear and these have very good light gathering properties in low light conditions.

Shocked at how good the autofocus and superior optics of these NavPro 7x50c's are. I like them better than the image stabilizing model I have been using. Way better. I was stunned when I picked up a pair on a recent trip from Boston to Florida.

Due to courier restrictions, I could not import the bino's in South Africa. My girlfriend purchased them in the UK and brought them out. The problem I have is that the compass bearing is blurred when viewed on the horizon. Only when, I tilt the bino's upward, does the compass come into focus???

Purchased the Limited Edition 70 year anniversary version. Had to wait quite a long time for these and today they arrived, a day before I'm scheduled to depart. Took them out of the box only to find that the compass has a huge bubble inside making it completely unreadable. Will be returning it. Not impressed as I needed these for maritime guide purposes in the arctic this winter.
