Does not work with PCIe?USB bridge devices on the JMICRON controller JMS583. Driver error code 10. (if connect to MB Intel DH67BL with USB3.0 this controller JMS583 working fine) But same controller PCIe?USB Realtek RTL9210 working fine. Last FW: 2.0.2.6. Driver: 3.0.23.0 Windows 7 x64. HP Pavilion DV6 1330sa.

I just bought and installed this ExpressCard and so far it's working in my older Dell E6330 notebook. The connector for my only powered USB 3 port got broken somehow and I really wanted another on for connecting an external drive for backups, etc. Install went smooth, inserted ExpressCard, downloaded and installed drive. Inserted a mouse to just test that it's working and all seems well. Will update after trying out an USB 3 external hard drive.

This card is now somewhere between 8 months to a years use, and still works as well as it did on day one... Or so to say, not well. Straight away I was forced to disable power management in my BIOS on a few of the laptops this is used with, as it has major issues with the inherent power management protocol, and the community, via forums etc, indicated that this is the best approach to settling this particular issue. It is, as it solves the major issue of it not working at all... but it just gets flaky from here. You can get the thing to work, but it usually requires you to go into device manager, pop the card out, refresh the devices, pop the card back in, refresh the devices, then it MAY see what you plug into it.. or it may go yellow flag and take issue with its own existence... begging you to put it out of its misery. I have almost given in many times and just smashed it.... being that this is a reoccurring cycle, day in and day out, each and every time you fire up the machine from a cold boot, sleep, hibernation, etc... sometimes it just decides to let go in the middle of sitting there. You won't even be using it, but you'll hear the "do da loo" of the USB dropping a component.. and guess which one it dropped! That's right! The uber cheap Amazon obtained, StarTech USB 3 card... always. Fact is however, there aren't many good options to add USB 3.0 to a Sandy era laptop that simply didn't come with it. So despite all the hassle, and there is a ton... it does still end up providing good throughput when it works... so it isn't simply junk. It just ins't good either. I wish I could rank it 2.5 starts... as I feel 2 is just a bit too low. But three is surely too high. I'll rank it 3 on quality I suppose, as it hasn't broken into pieces or anything... yet.
