It worked once, the day after (after a power cycle) it did not work anymore. I did not trigger the device manager as well. The cable vga2vga works with another hp so it's for sure the converter.

Got this and tried it a few times - three computers with HDMI output, it works on two of them, not the third. The description specifically says it doesn't need to be powered, so I'd hope that's not the problem. I've done all the troubleshooting that I can, and I'm not a novice. Two out of three is a majority, but it's not good reliability. Also, it's odd that it's designed so that the thumbscrews on any typical 15-pin D-sub connector will hang loose on each side. It's compact, but surely two small tabs could've been added to address that?

this was the 3rd & most expensive adapter i tried before i was gonna give up & retire my projector. BUT ..... it worked with my old chromebook immediately out of the box. V happy

I purchased this converter for my wife who was having difficulties presenting to her students because her laptop has only HDMI ports and the projector has VGA ports. I recieved my converter a week ago and gave it to my wife to try out. She is so elated that she can now present to her students unhindered. She loves the converter and I am still her hero, thanks StarTech for a wonderful product.
