Can't believe I am sending this back 3x

Just beside myself at this point. Nothing I have purchased from Steiner that takes a battery ever works very long. Great glass on this scope but it is now being sent back for the third (or maybe 4th time, I have lost track) for electronics failures. Do yourself a favor and get the version without the IFS. Really anything they make that takes a battery should be avoided. I have sent their pistol TOR Fusion laser/light combos back more than a half a dozen times. Just sent another back last week. Now this. Just unbelievable really. I am at a loss for words at this point.

Intelligent Firing Solution and World Class Optics

I have to two M7Xi iFS 4-28 x 56 scopes with the TREMOR3 reticle. One is mounted in an ERATAC adjustable scope mount and attached to a 50 BMG system. The second is mounted in a SPUHR and attached to a 338LM system. I have used both systems in ELR training and shooting for almost a year now. After my initial outstanding experience with the 50 BMG, I bought the second scope for the 338 LM. I can compare the optical quality directly to European and US top end scopes which I own and use. The optical clarity ranks at the top of the group, period. Edge to edge sharpness and contrast are also at the top, consistent with the pinnacle tier of military scopes. The IFS function has a moderate learning curve, and does take some time to understand all the details - but it is very thorough. The connection applications are not as well documented as I would like, but can be learned very quickly. Some of the functions, such as re-zeroing for traverse are located in the cartridge section - which makes sense once you start to apply offsets for suppressors or different loadings. However, there is no shortcut to ensuring all setup data is accurate and calibrations are performed for the sensors, especially after mounting on a rifle with a canted rail. I have compared the firing solutions to other ballistic solutions and HTI systems - It is FULLY accurate to the ballistic solutions of my other ELR processes. Accurate and precise ballistic solutions require extensive, accurate and verified inputs, again, no shortcuts. I now rely solely on the IFS solution for ELR shooting, along with an external rangefinder and wind measurement. In both scopes, I have the full elevation of 26 - 27 MILS using ~45 MOA of total cant. Once set up, the solutions are very quick to access and execute, much faster than using external ballistic calculator systems. Steiner has brought to market a very unique scope with a very powerful and accurate integrated firing solution. I could not be happier with the scopes. From a military and ELR standpoint, this is really a cutting edge design and implementation. I only wish I had access to the military binoculars to test the bluetooth connection and integration of the laser range finding solution. Very highly recommended.

IFS

The Steiner IFS is not for everyone. Like any computer, the info you get out is only as good as what you put in. With accurate inputs the scope works amazing. (Start with the updated 2.53 firmware, get a good zero on the rifle, check your muzzle velocity, get the correct BC for the projectile, shoot one batch of ammo, input data into iPad or phone and sync to scope. I have tested from a 22LR to a 338 Lapua and it's been almost perfect. You dial until the distance on the display matches the actual distance you are shooting to and you are set. Wind is a variable that will never be mastered, but the scope allows you to input a wind direction and speed. (or use zero wind and guess) the elevation component is going to be really accurate. There is an option to add the Kestrel or the 1535 NM binoculars to the system... Hopefully the price will come down over time, so is it worth the extra 8 oz to the scope and the price depends on the customer and their needs. PS. The actual scope functions normally without the IFS and is one of the best in the world. Some of the best light transmission and anti reflective coatings. You can see the the animals in the shade under trees as you look into a setting sun. (Try that with any other brand of scope.) One con besides the added weight is the IFS eats batteries, so bring extra and expect to change them often. Hope this helps.
