Working fine now! Need better instructions for Mac

I was not a breeze to set up. After several attempts to follow available instructions for Mac, I finally resorted to contacting tech support. The support staff was friendly and patient. Really excellent. They helped me set up the device in a jiffy, but really, if your provided complete instructions for Mac, the call wouldn't have been necessary. It was all a matter of plugging the print server into the correct port while setting the different configurations. Here's the missing outline: 1.) In System Prefs>Network, make note of the IP address setting for an Ethernet port, then manually configure the IP address for the port to match the print server's IP address and subnet mask but with a different final set of numbers for the IP. 2.) Connect the print server to the Mac Ethernet port you just configured. 3.) Open a browser and go to the IP address to open the print server settings interface and under TCP/IP settings, configure the print server IP and subnet mask to match your router, but with a different final set of numbers than any other device on your wireless network. Save and restart. 4.) Unplug the Ethernet cable from the computer and return the address for the port to its previous settings (critical if you use this port to connect your computer to your router!). In your browser, go to the address you configured for the print server, the print server interface should open and show it's new address. 5.) Now you can connect your printer to the print server via USB and follow the StarTech video for adding your printers!

Works well to get my aging HP6L back on my network

I used to have the wireless version of this, and it worked well...until it didn't (can't remember if it died, or wireless changed, or what). So then I used a Centronics to USB and just shared it from a machine...but recent Win10 updates seem to have killed that. So bought this aging beauty (on eBay) and it works great. The Setup program doesn't work but I don't know what you'd use it for...it's easy to set an IP on your machine to get to the web interface, change it to your network settings, and away we go. Cheaper than replacing my printer.

Steady and Reliable

I had heard good things on the reliability of the print server here and I'm happy to say that so far it works exactly as needed.

Easy Up and Running

I purchased the PM1115P2 Print Server in order to get my old HP 5p Laserjet back in use. Hooked it up to my home network and after 3 years on the bench it's up and running again. Thanks StarTech. I would have given 5 stars but the reset button is not in a user friendly position.

Worked as described

Installed via a Win7 desktop to attach an HP 4100tn printer to home network to replace a failed Jetdirect card. The installation was faultless and took maybe 5 minutes total. Nice unit.

Steady and Reliable

By Business G.

I had heard good things on the reliability of the print server here and I'm happy to say that so far it works exactly as needed.

While maintaining a compact and lightweight design, the PM1115P2 Ethernet to Parallel Network Print Server seamlessly transforms a standard parallel printer into a shared network resource over a 10/100Mbps network. This reliable and efficient device provides network printing access, enabling multiple network-connected computers to utilize a single printer. This eliminates the need for individual printers at each workstation, saving both costs and space.

This high-quality print server connects directly to the Centronics port of your printer, offering a discreet solution that doesn't require a cable between your printer and the device. Instead, it simply connects to the network using an RJ45 cable. This flexibility allows you to position your printer anywhere on the network, eliminating the need for a dedicated print server PC and preventing potential performance bottlenecks.

The PM1115P2 Ethernet to Parallel Network Print Server is user-friendly, with an easy-to-use web interface or Windows-based configuration and setup. It can have you up and running in minutes, thanks to its remote web-based or Windows-based installation wizard.

This durable print server is compliant with IEEE 802.3 and IEEE 802.3u standards, ensuring its compatibility with a wide range of parallel printing devices. It supports SNMP for remote printer management, working seamlessly with most SNMP-based applications. It also supports Internet Printing Protocol (IPP), Print Job Control/Status, Email Alert, Rendezvous, DHCP Client, SNMP (v1 and 2) & HP Web JetAdmin, and Windows Print Monitor Technology.

Ideal for use in education and government institutions, this server is a convenient network printing solution that can convert a standard parallel printer into a standalone network printer. It allows multiple network-connected computers to share a single printer, eliminating the performance issues associated with a dedicated PC acting as the printer server.

In summary, the PM1115P2 Ethernet to Parallel Network Print Server is a versatile, efficient, and cost-effective solution for network printing needs.
