So this is the adapter supplied by my help desk for a laptop it is not what I request as it is thicker then the laptop so actually lifts it up when plugged in. For the first few years it worked ok, have to plug it into the same usb port every time or setup the connection again but now I have to insert it just right and not wiggle or anything to get to function sometime it takes 2 or 3 times and different ports on the laptop to get it going. Very annoying since the only time I bother with it is when I NEED it such as configuring fresh out of the box equipment or network upgrades. Just sad that it has probably only been used 50 or so times and it isn't working

The USB31000NDS USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter adds a single RJ45 Ethernet port to a USB enabled computer system, with support for Gigabit network connections at full bandwidth when used with a USB3.0 host connection, unlike USB 2.0 adapters. This compact USB 3.0 NIC works with 10/100/1000 Mbps networks and offers backward compatibility with USB2.0/1.x computer systems (speed limited by USB bus), making it an ideal portable replacement LAN adapter or laptop accessory. Support for features such as Jumbo Frames, VLAN tagging and Wake on LAN (WOL), provides versatile Gigabit network performance for home or business use. Backed by a StarTech 2-year warranty and free lifetime technical support.
