In your specs you write that it can support disks up to 16Tb, but my Mac gives an error message. However, if I replace it with a 6Tb disk, it works. Really frustrating!!!

I have no idea why my company would provide me with such an old and outdated product. In my opinion this dock should have been discontinued and updated. A docking station should reduce wires and mess but having no power feels archaic. I have 2 screens both with HDMI connecters and this dock can only connect one. I have tried a HDMI to display port adaptor but for some reason it doesn't work. I find the price confusing as I have found much more for less elsewhere.

I picked up this dock used, and it still works like a charm. It's connected to my 2015 iMac. I've connected a 4 drive raid via eSata cable and it has boosted performance nearly 50% over USB 3 connections. The HDMI works great with a second display. Love the extra USB ports. The thunderbolt cable seems to handle all the data I can throw at it without slowing anything down. Great product!

This device make a job done, for unfrequented use, but is you use it often It will be useless after 20 HD to SSD. and the process will take longer and longer until it failed.

This is an awesome standalone Duplicator. I was able to clone my Directv External Hard Drive and it worked great. It only took a few hours. Im happy because I now have a backup of all my programs. Piece of mind having a backup of the Directv HD. Awesome..... It still doesn't fix the issue if you put it on another receiver but happy I have a backup incase the HD dies and I loose all my shows.. Thank You Statech... Great products y'all make.

I bought this to run a second monitor using the USB3 port. My MacBook Air runs the latest Monterey 12.3.1. Once all was plugged in, which was all of 3 cables, plugged in the Power, the USB cable and an HDMI cable, I simply downloaded the drivers for the Mac 12.x and installed. Once the security permissions were granted the 2nd monitor sprang into life. One small issues (not much of an inconvenience, when I boot the laptop from cold I do have to run the DisplayLink Manager app for the second monitor to work. Like I said not really an inconvenience a I added the app icon to the taskbar.

I've had 3 of these docks none of the worked as intended, 2 returned and 1 will be going back soon, either the devices dont work alltogether or when put under any kind of screen motion, they disconnect and reconnect after 20 seconds or so, useless for business.

I have been happily using this device for a couple of years, but the device is only been used 5-6 times per year. Only compliant is the door that broke early on... Looking for a USB 3.1 version to double my transfer rate on work PC that now sports USB 3.1. So nice to find the USB 3.1 doco elsewhere here that helped show the difference.

I bought this bar to have access to extra USB ports. Well this bar keeps dropping two out of the three ports. For keyboard/mouse and headphones the quality is laggy and the USD stops working, which completely beats the purpose of getting a docking station to begin with. I only use VGA connection for the monitor other than the USB ports. How an this be fixed?

Ports are numerous but the lack of a way to charge a laptop directly through the dock is a game breaker.

Using this to clone SSD's. It's really fast. There is one feature I wish they added. I wish there was an audio beep sound after the cloning process was done so I know to insert the next drive. Have to keep looking at it every so often to see if it's done.

I bought this 3 years ago and it is a champ I've taken it to many university housing situations and used it with multiple laptops, monitors and a tv screen on one occasion. I constantly have 3, 720p monitors hooked up to it and it runs like butter. I keep my mouse, keyboard, optical drive and aux speakers hooked up to it and the run smoothly at all times I have never had any problems with it. I hooked it up to my 4k tv once and my video feed was a little slower than usual but I'm pretty sure that was because my old laptop didn't have the processing power for 4k. This is one of the best products I have ever owned as a engineering university student. This product doesn't stand out in any way and that's what is great about it. hook anything up to it and it just work as if it was plugged right into your computer.

I work from home and also in the office...but I don't have a laptop. My work is mostly document-based, with spreadsheets and cloud-based things. The only video I do is an occasional YouTube clip here and there. I have a small form-factor desktop PC with an Intel i3 series CPU. On this hardware (running Windows 10) this thing works brilliantly. It allows me to move easily between office and home office. When I want to switch locations, I just un-do one AC power connection and one USB cable and I'm out the door. Connecting at the other location is just as simple - in two minutes I'm back online and working. If your intent is to use one of these docking stations with a system that is NOT a laptop, there are a couple things to watch out for: 1) Many PCs will not boot if there is no keyboard connected when you switch them on. I had to make one change to my PC BIOS to get around this issue. After that one little change, everything worked perfectly for me. 2) It is VERY important to install the DisplayLink drivers BEFORE connecting this unit for the first time. I did this, connected my three monitors and all other peripherals through the StarTech docking station and then disconnected the monitor from the PC. Then I re-arranged my monitor settings in the Windows 10 control panel and all was well. I haven't had to connect a monitor to my PC directly since then. Video performance is perfectly adequate for general purpose computing, but is NOT fast and I noticed a small performance hit overall in my system running this unit. Neither of these things are deal-breakers for me. I expected some performance penalty once I connected this device, but it isn't a real hindrance to me at all. I might wait one second longer for applications to load - not a huge deal. Many PC docking stations will do dual monitors but I haven't found any others that will do three. That is what makes this product so essential to me. You're not going to game on this device - don't have unreasonable expectations and I think you'll really appreciate it. I can't speak to Mac compatibility, but (again) I'd suggest not having unreasonable expectations.

This docking port was a big help until MacOS Big Sur #11.1 when my ThunderBolt-5.1 drivers seem to have vanished. Apple seems unable to advise. Tech Support with StarTech seems perplexed hopefully not as lost as I am. It was a great product when it was working. Now I am reduced to a small JBL speaker rather then a Yamaha amp with 5 surround sound speakers and subwoofer.

I bought this product months ago but then updated my OS and the monitors stopped working. Contacted the Techsupport team and immediately someone was on the line to help with my issues. Want to say thank you to Daniel for taking his time and helping me through the new set ups. Now everything is in order :)

I have been using this item for six months or so and it works great. I have one problem now that it only recognizes a drive if the drive in in the dock and powered on when the computer boots. I dont think it is a problem with the docking station but a Win 7 setting. I contacted support on line because I had misplaced the power supply and was wondering what the voltage and polarity was. The chat guy said he couldn't find that item and had me repeat it. Really strange he couldn't find an item on their own web page. Total waste of time. I finally located the power supply. It has no markings as to what it belongs to or even Startech. Pity.

I've only used this a few days and it immediately addressed the issue I was having with a less expensive USB dock that would dismount a drive randomly. However, the technical specs are wrong. This unit does not support hot swap. If you dismount and physically remove one disk, the other one will disconnect briefly. This is confirmed in the user guide and should be corrected on this page so as not to misinform customers.

This has tons of ports, and I'm using nearly all of them. I have two 2K DP monitors and a lot of USB. The only port I'm not using is the microphone. On two of the USB ports, I have powered hubs. For the monitors, they're hooked into active adapters that convert from DP to DVI-D. With all of that, what is there to say? I've been using it for 3+ years and I'm very happy. Is there anything better to say??

I picked this up to work from home and I am running 2 external monitors from my late 2013 macbook pro. Using two displayport cables from the hub and this all works really well. No mac issues, only the monitors detecting the right mode output and away it goes.

At my federal agency, I support a number of users who each have these drive docks, and who use them heavily every day, writing or reading terabytes of data. With these docks, our users can share data faster than transferring files across a network. My users do not often use the duplication feature, but I use it regularly. We have seen two of these units fail, but in once case, that was definitely as a result of the user connecting an improper power supply to the unit. While this is obviously not StarTech's responsibility, it would be helpful if the power supplies for these units came with a clearly visble StarTech sticker or label with the bay's name and model on that label. Other drive bay and power supply manufacturers should do the same. StarTech promptly replaced the second bay that failed. The plastic covers over the ports on the drive bays are a little fragile; many of our docks are missing one or both. We would like to see a side-mounted, quiet cooling fan that would cool both drives when in heavy use. We will continue to buy these products, and we are hopeful that StarTech will release a cooled dual disk Thunderbolt drive bay in the near future; we need better performance than we can get from just USB-C. We would also like to see a cooled bay to duplicate PCIe NVMe drives.

Everything works as expected using the USB connection, even plugging it into my NAS. When I tried plugging the ESATA into my Synology 412+ it doesn't see anything. This is only using one drive.

My first experience with Startech was using their 2.0 USB docking station, which caused problems when trying fix the external monitor resolution. I had gone back to Startech and got support from their online help team, who has always been great in handling my questions. They were able to identify a resolution compatibility issue and suggested using the new 3.0 dock. I went along with the suggestion and tried the 3.0 USB dock..... and it is working great! It's been working for about a month no...
