You can see the photo and the chromebook ethernet notification in the photos below. And thank you for finally making ethernet possible on my chromebook. I also got very fast speeds.

I purchased this in March 2023 so that I could have a USB Wake-On-Lan. Not only does that not work, but the gigabit speed it not there. Using the built-it RJ-45 of my laptop, does give me the expected speed, so something is obviously wrong.

Works fine. It is plug and play, even with my Android phone.

My ISP guy was apprehensive about this adapter when setting me up, said everything was router/ethernet/wireless and my attempt to run a no-ethernet laptop (USB-C only for internet) on a wired connection might be doomed... He was actually surprised when it worked perfectly, even without being able to use the included CD set up disc (nobody has CD's anymore!)

I bought this a few years back and needed one for a MacBook pro (2022 model with only usb-c ports had use another usb-c to adapter to plug this Ethernet adapter in. Followed the steps offered with this product and it works, full gigabit speed. Great.

This adapter works very unstable on Mac Os Mojave, I have to reinstall it over and over again to keep it working. After upgrading to Catalina it worked for one session and the reinstall trick is not working anymore.

This device really delivers what it purports to do, unlike several others I tried which caused far more problems than they solved. And, also unlike the failed others, this company has superb customer and technical support. A winner all around. I will always use their devices instead of others.

I keep this plugged into my external monitor. Did not work until I downloaded the beta driver. Now it works great with my 16" macbook pro running MacOS Big Sur.

Not as efficient as having onboard gigabit ethernet, but it has improved my throughput. I recommend it

I've got 2 of these plus a slightly earlier version originally purchased to use for PXE booting Windows laptops, tablets and PCs. Don't seem to have any issue in Windows 10, windows updates you can bet are likely to mess many things up and I even seen it mess up Graphics cards, network cards etc. I suggest if you buy this to make sure that it will fit the intended use and research as much as possible.

Device incompatible with Big Sur. The OS is almost a year old, but Start Tech is sitting on their bum rather than supporting their products

I was very happy with this adapter, but I have upgraded to MacOS Big Sur and the adapter is no longer supported. I'm disappointed there is not an updated driver for it.

Works great with both the Nintendo switch and the Surface Pro 6. Long enough to close the cover on the switch dock too.

Bought the USB3 to Gigabit adaptor a few years ago when I was using a Windows laptop. Changed to Mac. Just downloaded the Driver Package, Followed the instructions and works like a dream. One problem (Mac) handled by StarTech support via Chat and then telephone. Both worked great. No connection in any way with StarTech but all my career in IT (60 years) and can not think of a better product and support experience.

First install attempt was unsuccessful (I believe it's because I didn't use "Run as Administrator" when I first ran Setup.exe). I had no Link/Activity LED's. - Although the adapter may work for some without the drivers, they were required for my work laptop. - I had to uninstall the driver from Control Panel as well as the device from Device Manager. - I recommend installing the driver before plugging in the adapter. - Right-click the "Setup.exe" file and select "Run as Administrator" (even if your user account is Administrator, follow this step anyway) - Connect the adapter and then connect an ethernet cable to it. - Unplug/Plug the adapter from USB after the first connection if you don't have any Link/Activity LED's

Finally bought a new laptop and was bewildered by the missing ethernet port. I tried to find an external ethernet adapter online, but there were too many choices. The Dell Chat was a simple and easy process that made some sense of my online searching results and I felt comfortable with their suggestion for the Startech.com usb 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet NIC Network Adapter. Software is included in the box; make sure you look for it, although it could just work as a plug and play.

At first it worked, later sometimes and now hardly. I think the driver has trouble coping with the W10 updates.

The datasheet says this works with Linux kernels up to 3.5.0. But the current version of Ubuntu uses 4.15.0. Is there a driver version that will work with current releases of Ubuntu? Strangely, it seems to work fine with Linxux Mint which also runs the 4.15.0 kernel.

I purchased this to upgrade my laptop that had 10/100 Ethernet. Later, I installed Win10 Tech Preview on my desktop, and the Intel driver for the I218v gigabit Ethernet adapter wasn't compatible. Dug this adapter out of a drawer, plugged it in to USB3, and instantly had gigabit Ethernet. It's a great performer - I'm impressed all over again. Thanks, StarTech!
