The Bag Designer Never Owned A Camera

This is a nice looking backpack. My mom told me if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all. Now that I have said the one nice thing...Yikes! Where do I begin? It is obvious who ever designed this backpack has never used a camera. While the physical dimensions are large, there is very little room in the pack because there are few dividers and fewer places in the bag that will accept the Velcro dividers. The "L" bracket is a joke. It is a piece of fabric covered foam about 8 inches long that has two small pieces of velcro to attach to the few placed in the back that does have a place to accept a velcro divider. After spending considerable amount of time, I was at a loss on how to have the camera sit securely in the case. Additionally, since the interior is not very configurable, it would be difficult to secure the camera after switching to my 70-200 lens. The product description describes getting the camera out of the top of the bag, but that is not how this bag works. The quick access on the top only gets you to a storage location for pens and sunglasses - not to the camera. The harness does not include any straps around the waist to transfer the bags weight from your shoulders to your hips. This is a very useful idea if you want to carry the bag all day. The interior of the bag is accessed by placing the bag face down and unzipping the side that stays next to your back. First that means your handsome bag is soon going to be dirty and grimy if you use the bag in an outdoors setting. Second, is means it is difficult to access the interior of the bag since the zipper has to go around the harness system. The bag has two very small, almost useless pockets on the outside. These pockets are certainly not big enough for filters, battery chargers, or cables. Overall, a very poorly designed bag.

About Manfrotto MBSB390-7SW

The White Veloce VII Backpack from Manfrotto is a shooter's backpack. If you can't get the shot with all the gear this bag holds, you're doing something wrong. It's rated to hold a DSLR with or without a grip and a 70-200 attached - and held in a shooting position - plus an additional 3-4 lenses, flash, small accessories and if that isn't enough, a 17" (43.2cm) laptop. On the outside, the pack is made from rugged, water-resistant nylon.

As stated, it's a shooter's pack and the reason it is stems from the marvelous ability to access the main compartment from the top via the top zippered flap secured by a touch fastener. Isn't it wonderful knowing you can retrieve your camera (with lens attached) without having to open the entire bag? In the middle of a crowd, that's a real security bonus. Strap your tripod to the back with the included connections. Inside the Veloce VII, there are movable, touch fastened dividers that you can arrange to suit whatever gear you need to carry on a given day. The camera and 70-200 are held securely on a handy L Bracket that supports the body/lens combo in a face-down position.

Open the top flap, remove the setup, get your shot, slip the combo back inside, reseal the flap and you're off to your next shot. In addition, the Veloce VII has a protective, slip-in 17" laptop pocket. Stop for lunch, remove your computer, email your shots, make some notes, write a letter or work in Photoshop. Finished? Slip it back in its place and, again, you're on your way. And before you leave, access the organizer pocket where your iPhone, PDA, pens, business cards or other small items are stored.

As an added feature, if you don't want your tripod secured on the outside of the bag, you have the option to store it inside the bag, protected in its own section by the padded dividers. What a blessing when traveling. Since the Veloce VII is airline carry-on rated, you won't have to ship your tripod through as luggage. When you arrive at your destination, you'll have all your gear at hand. And speaking of tripods, there's an interesting and very functional integrated pocket that is perfect for fitting Manfrotto pocket series tripods.

The back straps are adjustable and comfortable making this an easy pack to tote around. At a very reasonable price, this backpack gives you all the benefits and features that make it appealing to anyone who spends time outside or who travels and needs a pack that can hold a world of gear securely and comfortably.
