on the canon platform digitally. had used this prior with film. tried the canon 550, 580s, they do have more bells and whistles, but do not seem as consistent as this is on automatic mode. It does not lock as securely as the 580 onto the hot shoe, but you can bounce it more creatively than the 580. tilting is prone to wearing out after a year or so, sunpak does repair, but about 100 no matter what is wrong with it. very nice, uniform lighting, no hot spots, fall off.

The only negative is it uses a lot of battery power. I found it to be more than powerful enough for weddings as well as being lightweight when taking hundreds of photos.

The 120JTTL is the first parabolic reflector flash that offers through-the-lens flash dedication capability with today's most popular 35mm and medium format cameras. Able to accept the complete line of Sunpak dedicated modules, the 120JTTL is extremely compact, lightweight and extremely easy to operate, yet it produces an impressive guide number of 45/150 (m/ft) with ISO 100 film. Both tilt and swivel movements are provided. When combined with the optional EXT-10 Cord, it permits the 120JTTL to be used off-camera, yet still maintain complete dedicated flash capability.
In addition to being powered by the high voltage TR-PAKIIa NiCd power pack, which provides 200 full-power flashes at an impressive recycle rate of 1.5 seconds, other power sources are also available, including an AC adapter. The 120J TTL can even operate with just 4 AA batteries installed, when greater capacity or faster recycling are not needed.
When TTL flash dedication is either not available or desired, the 120JTTL and its identical non-TTL version the 120J Auto, both offer 3 aperture settings, plus manual adjustment (full, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 power) for total creative control. The parabolic reflector can be positioned for normal and wide angle use, or removed for bare bulb lighting that creates a uniquely natural lighting effect.
